I did more on Sunday than I expected. I did a daily practice. I went grocery shopping so I have a nice breakfast I can eat in a minute (Monday morning here). The rest of it didn't happen. Not surprised at all.

As to the week as a whole, it went kinda like I expected. I didn't get as much work done as last week because there were more events. I feel like my daily list have slightly higher numbers on certain things (writing and movement).

Since about Thursday I have been turning inwards, preparing to end this experience for myself, and perhaps in spirit visiting Kate's Came Fireheart that also happened this weekend. I was sorry to miss it although...

I haven't flown since early August, and this short flight to London reminded me why. Don't get me wrong. I'm not irritated about 40 minutes delay that just happens. But being on an airplane is just not somewhere I want to be anymore. Which does interesting things to me being on the travel. I will think about and explore this more in the next few days I think.

I think this coming week (which I will plan some time today), I want to focus on finishing off partial done tasks (like the organization lecture!), keeping up with DW, and to get on top of admin tasks. I also know I've been thinking of starting up Japanese again since I'm planing to go to Tokyo middle to late December. And I want to ease into being mindful about eating when hungry again.

But top of my priority will be to dance with my inner artist/writer and do writing.

Very tired today and partly figured out why. We just shifted to winter time and then I shifted another hour over into London. So my body clock is two hours later than the clock hour. Explains a lot.

 

I sampled several books today, and I finished a game I've been playing.

 

EDIT: I forgot I also thought about where to go between Sweden and Tokyo. And it depends a little, but if I look at being close to where I would fly to Tokyo, I'm looking at Copenhagen. Or maybe I'll go to Amsterdam since Copenhagen is just a train ride away. Yes, I'm considering options that I can get to with train so I can limit flying.

I love the way you put this. This is good. I need to set this intention for my own work. I hope you have a great dance...or few. Hope your jet lag is easing off and that you're getting settled in. Are you staying near a park? That didn't seem to be a problem in Spain, but I've admittedly been absent more than I'm here. Without your thread in the Rebel forum I keep forgetting to come pop in, sorry about that!

Thankfully, jetlag didn't really happen in that way. More the compounding effect switching to winter time and switching 1-hour time zone at the same time made winter time suddenly a two hour difference. I guess that could be considered jet lag though. If only one or the other had happened, I would have been fine.

 

You are right, not being near a park in Barcelona was fine. I did get out in nature or to the beach about once a week though, so maybe that made a difference. In London, I'm staying in the same place so 20ish minute walk to nearest park, but currently I'm just enjoying being outside because there is a chill in the air! I've spent the last six months on warm to hot temperatures and I'm so ready for some chill and cold.

 

No worries! I know it happens. If my battle log stop being so effective, I might go back to challenges, but right now I really enjoy being able to plan for more than four weeks, or even to pick four weeks in a row that makes sense to me. :)

I did do a workshop on Introduction to Publishing while in Barcelona, so yeah. :)

 

Well, sometimes life just looks like that. If you want to be able to go somewhere to update while you aren't sure how often you'll be online, you can always start a battle log. That way you won't necessarily be starting over every time, creating a new thread and such if you don't come update for a couple of weeks. Just a thought.

Is the forum the right place for you right now to try and work on yourself? Maybe a journal (bullet or otherwise) might work better currently?

A friend of mine uses an index card system where he writes down the three most important tasks of the day each morning (the evening before) and then slowly sees a stack of used index cards (with many if not all tasks done) as achievement. (So he doesn't throw them away at the end of the day.

Happy Halloween!

 

I did some clearing of misc tasks. I finished off all the photo stuff from Norway, finished up a small thing hanging from the photos I downloaded from Camp NF 2016, and then I went through and cleaned up the genres of my music in iTunes... Mostly because I've been annoyed at randomly finding duplicates of songs I have, and thought maybe it has to do with my iPod syncing its versions of those songs? So I deleted everything on my iPod and then noticed wonky things with some genres on my songs and I promptly cleaned that up before re-syncing 3900+ songs to my iPod... Took a bit of time, lol.

 

I also went for a longish walk. I don't actually know how long I walked. I went down to the Thames and then bought groceries on the way back. It was so awesome to have a chill in the air. Also I had lunch before shopping and sat outside. The heater right by me didn't work so I was a bit cold around my legs, but still pretty great. I probably had my last meal outside for this year. :)

 

Also confirmed date with @Vibrantella! Looking forward to walking in the chilly air with her.

 

Seriously. I'm so in love with the chill right now. My skin feels refreshed. My whole being feels it, but especially my skin. It is like it is waking up after a long nap. Summer is just heat and heat and heat. Slow death for skin cells I suppose... While chill/cold? It is invigorating!

 

Tomorrow is admin day. I'll send a couple of reminder emails to one of my mentors (I expect they disappeared in the workshop he held last week), do other admin tasks, wash clothes and have a late night call for Phoenix Circle with Kate. She's doing an extra call just for us and I plan to be there. :D 23:00 isn't that late, thankfully the US haven't gone to winter time yet so time difference is only 7 hours (normally 8 hours in London)!

When I walked I started to get this sense that I wanted to step into someone else's shoes and into another world. There are three ways to do that: reading, playing a game, or writing. Nowadays, writing is the most vivid one. I know I'll start dancing with writing again in the next few days, but I'm not worrying about it. Instead I'm just taking each day as it comes.

Well, sometimes life just looks like that. If you want to be able to go somewhere to update while you aren't sure how often you'll be online, you can always start a battle log. That way you won't necessarily be starting over every time, creating a new thread and such if you don't come update for a couple of weeks. Just a thought.

Is the forum the right place for you right now to try and work on yourself? Maybe a journal (bullet or otherwise) might work better currently?

A friend of mine uses an index card system where he writes down the three most important tasks of the day each morning (the evening before) and then slowly sees a stack of used index cards (with many if not all tasks done) as achievement. (So he doesn't throw them away at the end of the day.

 

I really like the index card idea.

I was astonished as to how well a structured journal worked for me over the summer.  Just the minute-long act of writing a couple of words each morning set me up for the day, and I was able to do the things I wanted with almost supernatural ease (simple things, like fast / gym / walk).  I finished that journal just before my surgery, and only started a new one this week, and I'm already feeling more positive!

 

FWIW, it was this one, and I got it as a gift.  I had been looking at it myself, but thought that it would be unnecessary for me as I already have a BuJo - well, it turns out they work differently for me.  Hope you find something that works as well for you, @Butternut!

Still very much in rest mode, taking it slow. I have now finished all the admin I can do this week, so that is good.

 

Meet up with @Vibrantella and had a wonderful time walking along the Thames, visiting Tate Modern and ending it with a nice coffee/tea. This looks really cool... it works with the BuJo idea, and brings in the challenge idea (in a way) and it works in something I've been doing at work from another worksheet I discovered which has you set your three priority tasks for the day. I like it! Thanks for sharing.

 

We're having cool weather here too @Dagger, it is so awesome, agreed. It's lovely and makes me want my books, my blankets, my kitties and my warm drink. Awww, yes, now please.

Someone sharp eyed might notice I changed some tasks when it comes to publishing. I finished the organization lecture and realized I needed to do things differently. My first stop is to pool all different tasks I've created for my publishing business, organize them and such, so I can have a comprehensive and useful list to work from. I started that tonight just by brain-dumping (aka putting down anything I could remember), but I have tasks here, and in a to do list program, and I have the Strength workshop to finish working on to gain all basic tasks, and a few books that would be good to read. So I know what I'm doing for the next few days when it comes to publishing...

It was some time ago that I posted outside my daily update, but I guess today is the time, haha.

 

So I just went through and organized the shit out of my publishing tasks, business tasks, and everything around that, even studying for writing/publishing/business.

 

I've now put everything into OmniFocus and even put the main projects in order of which have super important tasks that need to be done as soon as possible for different reasons. This also means I went to my Last Quarter goals and deleted a lot of waiting publishing tasks there. For one I'm not sure if I'll get to them this quarter or not, but tracking them here isn't helpful anymore. I need a more flexible system.

 

I don't know if the way I organized OmniFocus will work. I basically just organized tasks by categories and then organized them somewhat within those categories (the business category is the most populated and there for the most confusing and possibly disordered or not ordered enough). I later moved some tasks so I only had super important tasks in three categories instead of spreading them all over.

 

I'm wondering if it would be helpful to have a Next Step project where I moved next steps, but at the same time, knowing myself it probably wouldn't work for me. It would help if I could have tasks show up in multiple projects and one click could check them off. Then a next step project would work for me. Alas, no to do app has it all, and I like that OmniFocus works offline, although I'll have to be conscious of the fact that it doesn't sync to the server unless I am online.

 

But most likely, I will only use it on one of my computer accounts on this computer, so it should be a problem (yeah, I have multiple to help me separate different tasks).

 

This task took longer than I thought it would. Partly because it isn't something I could just sit down and do all in one sitting. I needed pauses to let my mind mull on the possibilities.

 

And still I need to figure out how to track what I'm doing and getting done. OmniFocus hides away tasks when they are done. I could change that view (I think), but I'm not sure I want to. I don't know if I want to start tracking hours here or something like that to signify that I've been working on my stuff and so I can get an overview of how I'm doing. Because that is what my tracking here does. It gives me a daily look at how balanced I'm managing to be and I can see at week's end if I managed what I wanted to, and get a feel for how the whole week went.

On the heels of that, it is starting to be time to review this week and plan the next one. But I'll do dinner first I believe. :)

Spent basically the whole day organizing my work tasks. It wasn't that I literally worked on it for 10 hours on it, I had plenty of breaks. I broke for breakfast and lunch. I had gaming breaks too, and a movement break. But it took basically all day.

You can definitely see that my low energy and high need for rest this week impacted my productivity this week. I'm not surprised and I'm not mad. I did the best I could and I've been enjoying gaming.

 

My studying took a hit, I skipped one assignment and I've left all the work of this week until the last day (tomorrow/Monday). Maybe it was better to have the task as a scheduled task, because then I saw it more as something that I needed to do.

 

I only did one self care task. Well, only one on the list. I've done more than that, but nothing to further my foundations or such. More maintaining, and that is fine and good. Nothing wrong with that.

 

Basically a slow week with a lot of rest. And I managed to have it guilt free. #win #celebration

Week #6 (#45) - Nov 6 to Nov 12

 

I just realized that I have just finished one of three months of this last quarter goals thing. I found the goals and lists extremely useful in October. I definitely have been noticing some shifts lately, so I've moved my work tasks away from here, perhaps for now, perhaps they will come back. But we will see. I don't know how I want to track work yet. Didn't get much done today. I had super vivid dreams and woke up with tired eyes. Didn't help that I used my eyes mostly to watch youtube videos, oops... But I had an enjoyable tea/breakfast with my friend and I've had a good day today, even if I got no work done, so once again I'll miss turning in the workshop assignment.

Today was a social and chores/admin day. I went by Fortnum and Mason to buy the good tea I bought there before while talking on my friend on the phone. We continued talking as I got back, washed clothes for an hour (washing and drying both) and then for a while longer after getting back up to my room.

 

The afternoon was spent eating lunch, watching Inspector Lewis since my little brother invited me to use is Netflix (oh yeah!), and then taking the Phoenix Circle call. Then I started a bit of packing, had dinner, finished packing and now I'm here delivering my report.

I should probably go up and change the number on writing and working days, because the way this week is shaping up there is no way I'll work five days.

 

Also, while talking to my (Swedish) friend it turned out that it would fit really well for her if I visited next week (she has basically the whole week off because she works 48 hours this weekend), so I'll fly up to northern part of Sweden and visit her all of next week. Woop woop! It'll be good to see here. I last saw her this January and I think this will be the first time in a long time we'll see each other twice in a year.
