Went to the doctor. Great news, no problem. I then went shoe shopping and tomorrow I'll wear the shoes a lot indoors and see how I like them.

 

Beyond that I have now booked a flight to Tokyo and my accommodations and will fix a flight away from Tokyo directly to the US either later this week or next week. The rest of my admin, I moved until tomorrow and now I have a few things that need to move fast since I'll be gone from Sweden at least six months.

Didn't update yesterday. I spent the evening watching Rogue One with my dad. Good movie. I already knew the spoiler-y part of the ending, and I was glad for it. Although I suppose I might have had a different (not necessarily better) experience if I hadn't known.

 

Yesterday, I returned the first shoes I bought and bought another pair. Then today, I took them for a spin outside which means I can't return them. I have a pair of Nike Free runner shoes now. I had a strange thing happen while out for the walk today, but hopefully it was a one time thing or a break in the shoes thing. :)

 

Tomorrow I will deal with packing, partly for my trip up north next week (Mon-Sun) and to start prepping it for going to Tokyo. I'll have three full days at home (except for an appointment) after I get back, but if I'm going poking around in my luggage, I might just permanently unpack some things. :)

On my right foot, just behind the toes on the right side (not sure what that is called... front pad region?), that area anyway started aching as I walked with my new shoes and I don't know why. Maybe it was because I had to jog or so across a road when the walking light turned towards red, or maybe I walked a little strangely first, or maybe there is a problem with the shoes, or maybe it is a breaking in issue. I don't know, but it was a strange area of my foot to hurt.

Not much to say today. I slept later than usual. I took a slow start to the day but eventually started a washing machine and took a shower. Then I poked at my packing, taking out several things for permanent removal as well as putting together the stuff I need for my week away.

What can I say about this week? It started in London, ended in Stockholm. I've done needed admin, but not much beyond that. I am definitely in a phase of rest. I'll put together a plan for next week after this, but I have no idea what it'll look like. I'll make sure to carve out some time every day for work, but beyond that... Well, it'll show in the next post I suppose.

 

This is probably the first week with this low productivity where I don't feel bad about it. Not even a little. Because my life isn't about productivity or how much I get done. It is about how I feel, and how much I enjoy life. Sometimes that means diving deep into work, sometimes that means just resting.

Week #7 (#46) - Nov 13 to Nov 19

 

So the last couple of weeks, basically since I got back from Barcelona, I have noticed that this list and tasks and such aren't working right now for me. Although, they are mostly not working because of the cycle of rest I've entered. That means I'm not feeling much drive. I'm pretty tired a lot of the time, except tired is a bad word for it. I feel sleepy often. I feel like cozying up. I feel like snuggling down. I feel like slowing down. Reading more. Spending less time at the computer. And my body is even telling me those things clearly.

 

Most days, my eyes suddenly get tired so much quicker from watching a screen. In a way, I before have only noticed when I've spent like 12 hours in a row staring at it without much break. My mind keeps straying to the book I'm reading and wanting to slowly and luxuriously meander through it.

 

I still have my ambition, it is just pretty quiet at the moment, and I'm definitely shifting and changing and leaning into it.

 

So this week is pretty bare bones. Mostly because I will be staying with a friend, but also in recognition that I'm not super drawn to that right now.

 

I also expect that I might not update at the end of every day. Since I'll be spending time with my friend, I don't want to feel like I have to crack open my laptop and update this the last thing I do, and I might be with my friend all the time until I go to bed.

Spent yesterday about as I imagined. I flew up north. My friend and I spent the afternoon and evening: eating (lunch, dinner), talking a lot (I will be surprised if I don't get a sore throat some time this week), playing a card game (a bit surprising), and computer games. A very enjoyable day.

Nice day yesterday. A walk with snow on the ground and sunshine. Then off to shop pants and food. Then come back for dinner and computer gaming all evening. Oh, and I did writing and some catching up before the walk.

Another great relaxation day. My friend and I went for a walk cooked lunch. Then she went to work. I played computer games, did some other things and caught up on a couple of videos.

Friday and Saturday was a whirlwind. Spent the day indoors, no walk due to weather, kinda wettish snow and such. Played a lot of Guild Wars 2 as we have been. Then after dinner we played Talisman (the board game) for a couple of hours and more. Some more Guild Wars 2 and then off to bed.

 

Saturday was pretty similar except I also tried the Oculus Rift during the afternoon. Wow, it is kinda cool. First they had me watch a short movie, and then I played a first person shooter, unfortunately it was a little off, the sensors because we moved one without recalibrating, but I still had fun and man, can I imagine it kinda being a workout. Geez, haha. Kinda really left me brain tired.

 

Also woke with a headache today (Saturday), probably because I haven't been sleeping enough, thankfully I can sleep whenever come Sunday night. While with my friend I do want enough sleep but also want to get up reasonably.

 

Tomorrow I fly back south in Sweden, spend a couple of days home and fly to Tokyo on Thursday. Exciting!

It mostly left me tried because not only was I learning a new game, I was also learning how to do certain movements. Like picking something up is pretty intuitive, except since you hold a control you can't let go of it completely to pick something up, but you let go of it partly. So new movements and gestures to learn on top of a new game.

 

My thighs aren't sore today precisely, but I definitely feel them when I walk up or down stairs, haha. So much crouching and such.

Sunday have been good so far. I'm wanting to make an early night of it so I'll do a review of the week and a plan for next week tomorrow. I already know I need to go grocery shopping tomorrow. I'll do some planing, and hopefully I'll start going through the computer for some easy touch ups.

This turned into a complete week of rest. I wrote and worked on one day, but otherwise I spent time with my friend. Walking, playing games (board games and computer games), and such. It was very relaxing although I tended to not allow myself enough sleep on any one night. I also met a lot of my old habits around gaming and mostly observed myself with those without judgement, guilt or needing to change anything. I want to see what would happen basically, and I am satisfied with it.

 

A very nice week. And the coming one will be full of some socializing and then travel. I'll start travel around nine-ish am or so on Thursday and arrive in Tokyo around 10:40 on Friday, and then I'll need to travel to my accommodations. Eight hours of difference beyond a long day of travel. But I've done those long ones before, so I'm sure I'll manage it this time too.

Week #8 (#47) - Nov 20 to Nov 26

 

This week is a week of transition. I came home from my friend yesterday (Sunday, I'm making the plan for this week on the Monday of the week). Then on Thursday I fly to Japan and arrive Friday around noon due to a long time traveling plus time zone differences of moving 8 hours ahead. So I transition home to Stockholm for a couple of days where I will spend time with family, run errands, and pack (more reduction coming). Then two days of travel and buying a little food and settling in my room while trying to shift time zone. Then Saturday and Sunday of really settling in, figuring out what I can cook (I expect their ingredients to be very different from what I am used to) and getting ready for two weeks of writing related to a workshop I will do in Feb/Mar next year.

 

All my current daily tasks are gone. I'm not sure exactly how I will change things, but I'll try something this week. But knowing what transition weeks are like I will try to set my expectations in the right place.

Having very specific tasks I wanted to get done today, really helped me make sure I did things, but also did them on a schedule that worked for me. I know that isn't always true, but I will work hard to remember that and try to assign different tasks to different days. I think I kinda did that in my head in early October and I seem to remember getting what I wanted done.

 

I did about a 45 min work session today. I didn't time it. I had certain tasks I wanted to do today: clear cookies and history that I haven't cleared in my browser for over a year, install some updates, re-download Guild Wars 2, do a new backup, and then I had those nomad tasks above. If I put them all together (and ignore the GW2 download), I'm sure I reached about 45 minutes.

 

Tomorrow is not a work day. I will go grocery shopping for the dinner I will make. I might also tackle either a self care task or another task. Actually, I'll commit to doing at least one of either self-care or other task. I won't decide which one right now because it depends on how my day shapes up, how much sleep my body demands tonight and such.
