Last month was a good month, I swear! We did good and we’ve even expanded our little travelling party to include 2 dwarf merchants, Sten a Qunari killer, I mean warrior, and Leliana a Bard/Chantry sister. We helped the villagers of Lothering as best as we could. Once we found and made camp, we got word that Lothering had been overrun by darkspawn. It’s important, now more than ever, to find allies and use the Grey Warden Treaties. Alistair, Morrigan and I have talked about the treaties and we decided to head to the Circle Tower first.

Circle Tower - Gaining allies #1

Welp the Circle has gone to hell in a hand basket, Blood magic, abominations and Templars calling for the Rite of Annulment. Time to save the broken Circle, no matter how much Morrigan complains! Seriously she is always complaining! The Templars said we could go up the tower but in order for us to get out, we must find First Enchanter Irving, alive. We need to save as many mages as we can and get to the top of the tower.

 

On our way up the tower, we ran into a group of mages fighting off an abomination. Wynne, one of the mages asked to help us save the circle so she is coming with us. Looks like we might have a chance at rescuing some mages after all. Since we cleared the way to the exit, the group of mages are going to wait there until we come back with First Enchanter Irving.

 

Each week’s completion gets us a cleared floor, last week of the challenge will be the top where First Enchanter Irving is.

We need to find First Enchanter Irving and I'm pretty sure he is at the top of the tower. Nothing with this journey has been easy so I'm only assuming. We need to get to the top of the tower.! I'm not looking forward to all the stairs, gah I’m still so out of shape. I never imagining so many stairs when I wanted to go on adventures with Duncan.

1. 2 Cardio workouts & 3 Body Weight Workout a week

 

Save the Mages

Wynne, you know the mage I mentioned before wants to make sure we save any mage we see and clear the way for them to run back to the main floor. That means cleaning up the place, fighting blood mages and other magical beings but at least she is coming with us. You would think I'd be less trusting of a mage from the tower who wants to help. Wynne just seems like good people. I swear I'm not usually this trusting...

Food Quest:

1. Meal Plan & Meal Prep on weekends & Track food.

 

Kill the Abominations

There are 3 boss abominations that we know of, each floor has one our group must defeat. These are desire abominations and will try to sweet talk us at every turn! Resisting temptation will help defeat these abominations.

1. Limit Sugary foods  (Week 1: 6 items per day, Week 2: 5 items per day, Week 3: 4 items per day & Week 4: 3 items per day) & Soda days (wk 1 - 3, wk 2 - 3, wk 3 - 2, wk 4 - 2)

While we are making our way to the top of the tower, we need to keep our eyes out for any survivors. The tower was filled with mages and templars and someone has to be alive.

Life Quest :

1. No credit card spending & make payments. Survivors will be found and helped only if I don’t use my credit card each week. For every credit card purchase, 1 survivor doesn’t make it. Survivor goals = 20

Week 1 Review

 

We cleared the 1st floor and made it safe for any survivors we find. We did find 7 on this floor and it will be safe for them to wait until we find more. It was a struggle to get through this floor but we need to keep going up!

 

Top of the Tower : 2/2 Cardio days & 3/3 Bodyweight Workouts : To the next floor!

Crappy cardio this week but I got it in. I started the NF Academy workouts this week and those seem to be going well. I defeated General DOMS. Had major doms after that, front of my thighs were screaming at me for days after!

Save the Mages : Meal Plan on Sunday & 7/7 Tracked food days  : 1st floor cleared of Shades and blood mages!

I planned my meals and did a pretty good job sticking to it. I tracked all my food this week and I'm really trying to do a better job of just tracking and not judging what I ate. I will do that when I switch to tracking calories. Lol. 

Kick the Abominations out : Limit Sugary foods: 1st floor Boss Abomination destroyed!

I did a good job keeping sugary foods to under 6 items a day. I'm changing my soda goal though because only 1 a day was a little too much to start with. (wk 1 - 3, wk 2 - 3, wk 3 - 2, wk 4 - 2)

Look for survivors : 7 survivors found!

No CC purchases for a week! I'm pretty sure that is a record. :) 

 

Week 2 Review

 

Shades and Blood Mages taken care of, Boss Abomination destroyed and we even managed to save 7 survivors. We cleared the 2nd floor and are halfway to the top.

Honestly this week kind of went by in a blur. Not a lot of great eating and kind of craving soda. It’s amazing how much your brain is like MUST HAVE only when you decide to limit yourself. Seriously, soda has never been a huge issue for me but I wanted to limit it because sugar and duh it’s soda, not that great for you. Before I decided to limit myself I drank maybe 2, 20 onces a week….now that I want to limit my brain is like, ALL THE SODAS ALL THE TIME. Really brain, really?

 

Top of the Tower : 2/2 Cardio days & 3/3 Bodyweight Workouts : To the next floor!

Moved onto NF 2A & 2B this week. My knees are doing so much better. I still need to be careful with them but bodyweight squats are staying steady and this week's lunges did not kill me. :)

Save the Mages : Meal Plan on Sunday & 7/7 Tracked food days  : 2nd floor cleared of Shades and blood mages!

Tracking is still going well but I need to do better at following through on my meal plan.

Kick the Abominations out : Limit Sugary foods: 2nd floor Boss Abomination destroyed!

I did a great job keeping sugary foods to under 5 items a day. I didn’t even have a 5 item day and that makes me really happy. This goal is prepping for a Whole30, so getting the sugar down will be extremely helpful. Soda was a major struggle this week though. I did refrain from having a soda at the soccer match though.

Week 3 Review

 

Shades and Blood Mages taken care of, Boss Abomination destroyed and we even managed to save 7 survivors. We cleared the 3rd floor and are heading to the top. First Enchanter Irving and a few of the other mages are being held by the Demon and we need to break them free and hope their minds are still with them.

 

Stressful end to the week but I made it and barely. I hit all my goals but i’m not feeling very motivated to have a great last week of the challenge. That needs to end and I really need to learn how to deal with stress besides moping around, eating like an asshole and reading romance novels.

 

Top of the Tower : 2/2 Cardio days & 3/3 Bodyweight Workouts : To the top of the tower!

Save the Mages : Meal Plan on Sunday & 7/7 Tracked food days  : 3rd floor cleared of Shades and blood mages!

Meal Planning like a boss but still horrible follow through.

Doing fairly well with this goal but I know some days I struggled.

Week 4 Review

Abominations and Demons down, mages and survivors saved! It was a tough quest but this week we got through it and accomplished what we needed to do. 

 

This was a pretty stressful week for me again. I managed to push through it and finish my challenge and now I'm happy to have a few vacation days and a challenge break. 

 

Top of the Tower : 2/2 Cardio days & 3/3 Bodyweight Workouts : We made it!

Save the Mages : Meal Plan on Sunday & 7/7 Tracked food days  : Top floor cleared and the rest of the living mages have been saved!

Meal Planning went great but seriously, why can't I follow my own plan?

Kick the Abominations out : Limit Sugary foods: The Sloth abomination was slaughtered and this fight was a lot harder than the previous abominations.

Some days I struggled but I did really great this week.

Look for survivors : 7 survivors found!

No CC purchases for 4 whole weeks and made a payment on Friday!

Rest all the way! My legs hurt from the 5k I did on Sunday but I might do a few short bodyweight workouts just to keep up with it. You never know what craziness will come up during a challenge so might as well get some rest while I can. :) I might play around with my sugar goal though, depending on how zero week goes.

Honestly I already have the next like 8 or 9 challenges already planned out. This is zero week and I'd rather just post it now rather than wait. You don't have to though. Some people like to start their challenge to see if what they have planned will work or if they need to adjust a goal.

I have to admit I've never played DA, but now I'm quite interested. I do play a bit of WoW, as a Mage for one of my mains even, so I have a love of all things magey lol. I'm ready for this adventure!

I always start a new game as a mage or some magic wielding nut but my opinions of the mages have changed pretty drastically with each DA game. Origins I felt bad for the mages and the mage circle made me sad. In DA 2 I felt bad for them then BOOM WTF Anders/Justice and DAI, again WTF mages you get no more sympathy from me! I will say playing all 3 games back to back you get a better feel for the story and events start to click better.

DA is my favoritest game, don't know if you picked up on that. The story is just so fantasic and playing through it again I'm picking up on stuff I missed my previous play throughs. :) I played wow for years as a druid until they F'd up resto druids and...stop, breath, not getting into that. Let's just say wow has been ruined for me. Lol

Ugh so I ended DAO differently this play through and I just got the option in DAI to meet The Champions Warden friend....Alistair. I know whats coming and I AM NOT OK. I want to say this is going to be the hardest decision of my life but sorry Varric :(

I'm a planner and when I originally came back to NF there was no zero week. So I wanted to make sure I had my challenges ready to roll as soon as one ended. Now I make little adjustments here and there but I have a skeleton of a plan for a while. :)

When I decided to become an assassin I made up my mind to make my challenges more fun. After coming back from a year hiatus and already completing double digit challenges, I knew I needed to make my assassin challenges have a fun theme. From previous experience, I knew that would help me stick with it. So now I have a really great outline, thank you Bioware, and just need to add in the finishing touches. It also helps me focus on my current challenge rather than spend too much time thinking about what I need to do next. :) 

 

I LOVE planning (/wave hello fellow planning nerd) but I struggle with the follow through and often have a difficult time coping with outside events ruining my beautifully laid out plans. I'm getting better though and I just bought a new planner for this upcoming year. It's currently in the mail and I'm sooooo excited for it to get here!

When I decided to become an assassin I made up my mind to make my challenges more fun. After coming back from a year hiatus and already completing double digit challenges, I knew I needed to make my assassin challenges have a fun theme. From previous experience, I knew that would help me stick with it. So now I have a really great outline, thank you Bioware, and just need to add in the finishing touches. It also helps me focus on my current challenge rather than spend too much time thinking about what I need to do next. 

 

I look forward to being able to design a whole year of thematic challenges. No wonder so many Assassins I met are writing books! Thinking about the challenge themes and actually creating them is like writing a book / story. I'm not yet in that level but with the way things are going, I am sure I'll get there. It's so much fun to see life / fitness in this light and to know you can actually take control of it.

I use an easy note taking tool - QUIP to outline my challenges. Hehe.
