Also gonna drop this here: thanks for doing those challenges and posting them publicly. I know everybody has their own issues and no one actually has their shit together, but seeing your answers makes me realize that I'm not as bad off as I thought. Or at least I'm not alone. You're not too much older than me, you're married with kids and a house and a grownup job, so you must be an Adult™ ... and oh wait, you have these issues too? But you're clearly not a complete disaster. So that means I must not be a complete disaster either. Time to go reevaluate the way I think about things.

Having done it twice, honestly, it's not that bad.  Roughly equal to licking a 9v battery, if you've ever done that.  Last year I was helping a few people through and just started touching all the wires to find the live ones. (only about 10-15% of the wires are actually live)  Unless you have a pacemaker or something, it's not bad at all.

No, I've never licked a battery - is this common? :mushroom:

I am all about this. And also willing to attempt races more central to PA/wherever NTB lives because I constantly forget. (Fun story, I was talking to my therapist about how I need to start working out because Spartan. And she asked who I was doing it with, and I said "two people from the internet I've never met." And her face was great. No judgment, just "oh. okay." Idk I guess you had to be there for it, but I was amused. Hooray for making new friends and running through mud pits together.)

It doesn't matter where you get your friends. What matters is that they support you no matter what! BTW, if anyone cares, I totally called Flea out on Instagram, because I got my mileage in today. I'm so mean. 2.74 miles in 40 minutes, with warm up and cool down. I did 2.25 in 30 minutes total running.

I appreciate this anyway! I know you can relate to my party hatred. Why can't everyone just party separately, in their own homes?

Last night, we put the deposit down on a vacation home for the summer!

201505_0917_diffa_sm.jpg

We are going to Kitty Hawk, NC for a week in August. Found a place with a ping pong and foosball table too, so hopefully the kids will not be as whiny with it being the Outer Banks versus a more commercial beach.

Planning on doing a chapter in Age of Pandora and that's about it for today. Some cleaning and laundry and my weekend is set (I live such an exciting life). Also, this weekend, we have not splurged and gone out to get anything for dessert, which is a real win - my family has such a sweet tooth!

Self-Love challenge:

Identify a feasible workout routine - commit.

Spoiler

I don't even know that I need to spoiler this. Just keep moving forward, doing what I'm doing for the rest of this challenge!

A note to your past you:

Spoiler

Dear past Sylvaa,

Our lives are made up of a number of individual dots that are just one piece of the bigger picture. Some of those dots need to be ugly and dark to make sure we realize the beauty of the light, pure dots. The shading is what makes our picture more than just a piece of paper.

You can't be enough for someone who doesn't really want you. You can't be enough for someone who is using you. You can't make someone love you, no matter how much you think you love them. You can't keep beating yourself up over what's already happened.

But most of all, forgive yourself. Love yourself. Stop thinking that you aren't strong enough or worth it and do what you need to do for you. Demand help - stop bottling everything up inside. Find what makes you happy - and hold onto that happiness. Take a page from A.A. Milne and remember:

The Ranger mini is going to be so much fun! It's really just an excuse to follow people I normally follow anyway!

So, after all the ranting about races and such, this song has been on the radio daily all weekend. I love it and it makes me laugh.

Spoilering about the stuff going on in Orlando:

Spoiler

This hit me a little too close to home. I finally finished talking to my family this morning as my one brother (the older one) was being a slacker about answering texts. All friends and co-workers have been accounted for, although a friend of a friend was killed in the shooting. Ironically, my brother (the one that wasn't texting), had been in St. Pete, with his best friend and his best friend's partner. They went to a Tampa Wedding Showcase on Sunday.

I read this comment that really touched me about society. It was that one of the worst things that will come out of this is that some mother or father will now not only have lost a child, but will also find out their child was gay through this. That we still live in a society where people feel they have to hide their sexuality from their loved ones and then lose that support. That somewhere, a person is going to grieve their partner alone because they have kept that part of their lives a secret. I think of all the conversations on here, in regards to coming out or family support and it hurts my heart.

Tonight is Week 2 Day 1 workout and the next chapter in Age of Pandora. Also, I finally grabbed my fitbit, so I'll get that charged today and finally throw it back on my wrist. I was going to take pictures / measurements, but kind of got off track last night with the hockey game on (priorities).

Self-Love

Make a list of ten things you are grateful for: *in no particular order, with varying degrees of humor*

Spoiler
  1. My family. Both the blood relatives and the ones I've picked up by chance. I've had a lot of ups and downs with certain blood relatives over the years. So I've learned to appreciate the people that are in my life because they want to be. I'm thankful that I can reach out to them at any time and get responses and we can count on each other for anything.
  2. My cat. Just the one. She makes me laugh and makes my day better.
  3. My internet friends. Seriously, you guys are the best and I appreciate that there are memes and inappropriate jokes and everyone is positive and caring.
  4. My co-workers. I work with awesome people who deal with my .... quirks and embrace them.
  5. Having enough money to make life comfortable. I've had times in my life where this isn't the case and I can definitely appreciate how hard it is when you struggle.
  6. Peanut Butter and the ability to eat said PB.
  7. Living in a place where I can go for a run and my kids can go outside and play without being afraid of something happening to any of us.
  8. Not having the ability to eat ice cream. (My waistline is also thankful for this).
  9. Knowing that the people I love know I love them.
  10. Internet memes (sometimes you need them when things get too serious)

A Note to Future You:

Because my future self is going to be so awesome, she doesn't need a note from the past.

I really need to stop coming here before I do the challenges on my own thread because we wind up with similar answers and even though it's not on purpose I feel like I copied you lol. But I had to check this time because I can't get one of the challenges to load to see what today's thing is. (It literally did not occur to me until now to just save the images. Derp.)

I'm glad everyone you know is safe. <3

Today is going to be crazy busy work-wise, so this is what I've got:

Running (going to have to think through my challenge goal versus the Rangers mini. I'm thinking either a Runkeeper workout or a 5K towards the challenge goal, then anything over that will count towards the mini. Also, next Age of Pandora chapter.

Might need to re-think my no "S" goal a bit. I have trouble with low blood sugar, which (depending on my eating habits) has been recently rearing its ugly head. Last night, I was almost at a migraine-level headache, ate a cookie, and I was fine. Unfortunately, I was at the hotel with all my food on site, so I was kind of low on options. I'm hoping that a snack of grapes will help this from happening today, but has anyone else had issues with low blood sugar and does anyone have any tips or tricks?

Self-Love challenge:

Identify one relationship that is toxic or robbing too much of your time. Scale back your attachment without guilt:

Spoiler

To be completely honest, I do not have this problem at all. I have very few relationships with people. I, at one point, had some toxic friends, but as they have moved from my area, I've scaled back attachments.

I've been toying with the idea of deleting a few Facebook friends. I have one girl who moved to Florida to live with her dad, has found Jesus, has done a complete 180 with her life, and is annoying. Not that I have an issue with anyone finding Jesus, but we are talking about a girl who, while she was living in Pennsylvania identified as bi, smoked a ton of pot, and partied like a rock star. So all of a sudden you find Jesus and none of that is relevant anymore? I get cleaning up your life as you get older, but don't judge the people you once were.

One thing that's just for you:

Spoiler

Hahah! made you look!

I need to think about this and post later - I'll probably just post a picture of something in here.

My dad is diabetic.  Type 2 I think.  I always get them confused.  Anyway, one thing to keep in mind is that "blood sugar" and "sugar" are not the same thing.  All food ends up being blood sugar.  Cookies are good in an emergency, but with a little planning the blood sugar levels can be maintained pretty well with normal, healthy food.  Still, though, it's a good idea to keep a few very simple sugars around just in case.  My dad keeps a couple little sugar cube looking things around just in case.

Also, keep in mind the body processes alcohol before other food, and alcohol lowers the blood sugar levels, so if you're drinking, say, Rum and Coke, the run goes first and lowers the blood sugar, and the Coke goes second and raises it, which makes for some weird low/spikes.
