Wildross: Journey to the nationals #5

Turns out, challenges do help me, so I'm back...

So some goals.

First the setup.  I'm developing and presenting a 2 hour lab at Red Hat Summit in San Francisco the week of the 26th.  Quite an honor and a lot of work...  The conference finishes up on Thursday and I'm taking the next week (first week of Fuly).  We're going to see Lake Tahoe, then back to the CA coast for some lighthouse hunting.  The second week of July I have a competition in Orlando.  Not the best thought out plan..

1) Lift 4 times a week.  20,000# a day.  I really want 100,000# a week but not sure I can get 5 days.

2) Increase my cardio.  More rowing machine, more walking, more man makers, more low weight, high rep squats and deads.  I need to build a foundation for the nationals in the fall.

3) Track my eating/cut some carbs/pounds.  I really liked competing as a heavy weight, rather than a super heavy.  But I don't like worrying about my weight.  The cutoff is 120KG/264#.  I'm around 270# right now.  So I'm heading for the 250's so I don't have to fret the weigh in.

4) Something else...oh...actually relax on the vacation.

Warriors don't count reps and sets. They count tons.

I'm so glad that you are challenging.  :glee:

(See what I did there?)

Seriously...you inspire so many of us.  I don't always have an intelligent comment (mostly just slack jawed at the numbers you throw down), but always lurk and try to learn.  :-)

So...you writing goals, or do we get to write 'em for you?  ;-)

Yes. It's not random, though it may look like it. A lot is based on how I'm feeling physically. If I'm tired then it will be a volume workout. Lots of 10s, probably around 70% of my maxes, and lighter accessories. If not, then I'm going heavy on something. The something varies with the gym equipment I have available. There are certain brands of racks I won't squat or bench heavy in due to pin height. I almost always superset legs vs upper body or push vs pull, cause I hate just resting. My goal is to move over 20,000# per workout. That seems to be the level I can sustain 4 to 5 times a week. I almost always have a plan a and b when I go to the gym. I never wait for a piece of equipment. I'll do something else instead.

I'm also cycling through the big 5 exercises so i do a volume and a heavy day for each on a semi regular basis. What I'm really trying to do is duplicate farm or manual labor cause I want to be country strong.
