SnowOwl Posted June 7, 2016 Report Share Posted June 7, 2016 It is time for me to slow down and center myself so I have come to the druids for guidance and support this challenge. I need to keep things simple and focus on improving my mood and my thoughts. Main Goals: 1. Mindfulness/Meditation/Thought - spend time reflecting and meditating daily (must be time set aside for this, no multitasking) Currently, I am working on releasing the unhelpful things - negative self-image, anxiety, and a feeling of being overwhelmed, and focusing on the helpful - calming my mind, recognizing my awesomeness. 2. Declutter - I am ready to have fewer things. I will get rid of at least one thing every day. 3. Yoga - doing yoga before bed helps me sleep and is good for me, but I struggle with getting myself to do it. I will do yoga each night before bed. 4. Recognize my awesomeness - Write down what I accomplish each day and write one positive statement about myself each week - something good about me aside from accomplishments. Overall, it looks very peaceful and well-centered, the only thing I worry about for you is having more than one item that you are going to do every day on the list. If you miss even one day, it could lead to discouragement especially since you're struggling with negativity. What if you set up a minimum of 6 days a week (or even 5) with the intention of going for 7 days a week? That way if you miss a day you won't feel overwhelmed or beat yourself up. The Saturday podcasts on this site: https://www.sipandom.com/the-daily-meditation-podcast/ are the ones that have a walking meditation. I have a history of deciding I'm going to change everything all at once and then about three weeks in fall apart because I can't keep up. I figured I'd pass along the lesson I learned while I still remember it. No guarantee I won't have to learn it again. SnowOwl Posted June 9, 2016 Author Report Share Posted June 9, 2016 Zero Week (Housecleaning) Didn’t do great today, but made enough progress that I feel inspired to do more so that’s some success. bed made quilt hand washed dishes handwashed table kept clear and clean bathroom floor swept worked a lot on tidying my art/sewing area Also went to yoga class this evening. I love my yoga class. The people are wonderful and the teacher gives foot massages to everyone during shavasana. I forgot! One other thing I cleaned today - I emptied my email inbox! It's NEVER been empty before. I’m getting rid of, clearing out, and simplifying. It’s slow going, but I’m making good progress. My art/sewing area is almost done and the loft is also getting close. I spent time thinking over my challenge and looking at each goal and I think I'm going to leave it how it is. I think the only goal that I will be dragging my feet on is the daily yoga one and I really want this to become a thing I do every night before bed. So, I will strive for 100%, but will happily level up with 80% if I need too back off on something and will not be too hard on myself if I miss a day. She was shown to her quarters, given the morning rituals that she will be expected to follow, and left to settle in on her own.
