I really need to give up my Keurig habit. I only use it on weekends but it was a gift and I feel obligated to use the thing because it's from my future mother-in-law. I might one day try the Aeropress. My problem is that because I only drink coffee at home on the weekends that when I open a bag of coffee it often goes stale before I use it all. During the week I get free coffee at work. What's the best way to store coffee? Only buy whole beans and grind as you use it? Do whole beans go stale like ground?

I actually have two Aeropresses and there are some subtle differences...

Re: beans, I have gone full hipster on that one and have a coffee subscription. Tiny bit shameful but again, worth it!

Edit to add bit on storage, I'm not sure about ground coffee (will lose aromas within minutes anyway), for roasted beans I think cool, dry and dark.

i've heard it's a thing to store ground coffee in the freezer if you don't use it often? i'm not sure as i also grind my own before brewing. and i keep the whole beans in a cool dry place. i might have to check out the aeropress though next time i break my french press beaker!

the SO got me a 3 month mistobox subscription for christmas, that was fun! but we have a friend who roasts beans and stocks our pantry for free so it was just a fun thing to try.

I heard fridges and freezers aren't great for coffee because there is a lot of water / moisture involved, and coffee needs to be kept dry. Assume this would apply for ground as well as beans.

General rule of thumb, Australia is too damn hot not to refrigerate our coffee. Zip lock bag it to keep moisture out, and either freeze or refrigerate (straight from a barista who sold ground coffee to afficianado's). In winter it should be alright though...

when you said macros weren't too bad, i took a closer look and realized that the dinner you added didn't have the macros logged in it! ;) i hate when that happens. for me, the skewed macros usually comes from too much vodka though

Yep, I was going to say as long as it is sealed air tight in ziploc or tupperware or something you should be fine.
