Guest discomFITure

Greetings, fellow rebels!

My name is Lauren, but most people call me McDee. I stumbled upon Nerd Fitness through facebook; my friend, Jackie, placed 2nd in the Rebel Strength Guide 6-Week Success Stories article from July of last year (link) and posted it to her page. I followed the link and became hooked on NF.

So, my handle on this forum is discomFITure, which I suppose is pretty cliche... but I think it sums up the reason why I'm here.

For the majority of my life, fitness has been a source of discomfiture. From a young age, sweating has acted as a trigger for my anxiety, which perpetuated a sedentary lifestyle, an overindulgence in stress-related food consumption, and amounted to several (hundred) extra pounds on my 5'4" frame. Thankfully due to a modified diet (though not the healthiest) and light exercise (walking at a moderate pace for a mile each day), I have trimmed down and held steady at 200lbs. I'm hopeful that NF can help me to continue losing weight while building strength.

Right now, I'm endeavoring to complete the 30 Day Paleo Challenge to correct my terrible dietary habits, and working my way through the levels of the Angry Birds workout. Once I've made some ground in both of these areas, I'll look to branch out into more serious workout programs.

In any case, I look forward to seeing your posts on the forums and getting to know you all. We're all in this rebellion together!

Wow, he hires some help and suddenly starts popping up on the forum again. Spezzy really must be doing all the work...

Anyway, welcome Lauren! Embrace the sweat, it's a good thing. I love Angry Birds and will be doing it when I'm on vacation in a few weeks. It feels great to progress and really is a good full body workout.
