I floundered a bit last challenge, since I was burned out and didn't have much direction.  Now that I'm studying to be a full instructor at the parkour gym and may be helping with some stunt fighting classes, I have renewed my focus and motivation!

 

So, on that note, it's time to become Immortal and enter The Game.  Each goal has a target of 100 points over the course of the challenge.

Goal 1: Fight!  - Immortals need to be experts in combat to survive.  Points toward the combat goal are earned by doing any of the following:

-2 points for every 10 minutes of weapon training

-2 points for every 10 minutes of shadowboxing

-2 points for every 10 minutes of remembering and reviewing hapkido self defense techniques

-5 points for every strength session that includes some sort of muscle up progression, some sort of hanging core work, HSPU progression, handstand holds, and grip training).

 

Goal 2: Run away! - Sometimes, the best way to survive is to run away.  Points for running away are earned by:

-5 points for parkour open gym skills practice.  Fast wall top outs, vaults, and other things = easier time fleeing. ;) 

-4 points for actually working on swimming when I take the kids to to the pool

-4 points for any jog of any length

-4 points for any nature ruck

 

Goal 3: Immortal Healing-  I'm still having some knee issues, and I need to stay on top of my prehab.  So, 4 points are earned every day that I do foam rolling and prehab.

 

Goal 4: Seek Holy Ground- Immortals are safe* (more or less) on holy ground, so they can relax a bit.  For me, this goal is about reducing stress.  I earn 4 points every day that I take 30 minutes to just do something for myself, like yoga, reading, playing a video game, or whatever else might help alleviate stress.

 

Goal 5: Become worldly - Immortals who live long enough travel the entire world.  I will work toward worldliness and earn points by:

-50 points: plan and take vacation up the Atlantic coast.

-5 points for every chapter of Harry Potter that I manage to read in Spanish.

 

Bonus: study the instructor guide and schedule my test.

 

Hopefully, all of this focus helps me get my mojo back!

Apparently I've missed out on a lot during my short hiatus in the real world... That sounds amazing, Nym!  Glad to see you back again though; seems like a lot of us grizzled veterans needs to recharge after last challenge.

Whoa.. There's a highlander anime?!  I actually got into the mood for a highlander theme by watching another anime about immortals called "Ajin"  I really hope Netflix or Prime have this highlander anime. :)

Okay.  I do have a bit of a confession, though.  As much as I loved the original Highlander movie in all of its glory, I was much more into the TV show.  I love me some Duncan MacLeod.  :redface-new:   I found it weird in the series, though, how a lot of immortals didn't seem to spend much time becoming combat masters and really really proficient at running away.  The Immortal version of me would be training all of the time.

It's week 0, and I'm not really tracking anything.  That being said, today I'll be at the parkour gym, where I'll teach my class, do a little bit of open gym, and then work on my muscle up progressions (jumping muscle ups onto lower bars; negatives; bar dips), handstands, toes to bar, and more parkour strength stuff.  If the knee feels okay, I'll do some vaulting, too.  It's been awhile since I've had a solid vaulting session.

Thanks, everyone! :)

 

Wednesday was teaching my parkour class + muscle up work + handstand work + hanging core + pull ups

Thursday was jamming with weapons and then yoga.  It was interesting for me to spend some time thinking about how I would teach certain moves with each weapon.

Today was a nature walk + prehab.  But it also looks like swimming will happen!

 

And I should be all set for 3 hours of parkour + strength training tomorrow.  I'm really appreciating having some extra focus right now.

The anime is SO awesome!! I don't think it's on Netflix though :(. I watched the first episode of Ajin the other day and liked it. The artwork is beautiful. You could more than likely find the whole Highlander Anime on YouTube??

And,now that my focus and motivation are back, i had 2 hours of a great session at the parkour gym, followed by a nasty fall and a full elbow dislocation . :blue::angry:

 

im I the ER, and my elbow has been re-located, but I'm looking at 3 weeks in a sling at the minimum, followed by PT.  in the worst case, i might need surgery, but I won't find out until I have a follow up ortho consult.  

 

I will have to completely overhaul my goals.  Maybe a lot of rucking is in my future.  

 

Blah.  For anyone who was wondering, elbow dislocations hurt A LOT.  But the pain goes away quickly when the bones are back where they belong.

No ambulance ride.  My husband just drove me to the ER.  I'm already home, and I'm depressed, but at least happy that I can still walk or ruck for exercise.  If I need surgery, it would be to correct any laxity in the tendons.  

 

I learned that it takes a heroic dose of propofol to knock me out.  The doctor was very impressed.
