Darkfoxx 27: YOU GAIS, I'M HOME

So...... nerd school. 

 

It was a little harder than anticipated, and despite my best efforts, it really got to me - especially toward the end there - and keeping up with everything I needed to do with that + taking time to take care of myself + treating my body right by not eating shit + making an effort to at least do yoga really caught up with me and I let some things (namely diet & exercise, aka the things I had on lock down and could control nicely) slide. Slide to the tune of +6 lbs & I don't fit into 2 pairs of pants. And my body hurts. And my skin is freaking the F out. And my GI system is aaaaaaaaaall outta whack. 

 

Dumbass.

 

And now Nerd School is complete & (f)unemployment is here. 

 

As we all know, I can be a bit of a yawning chasm of anxiety and hyperbole. Let's try and mitigate all that shit during this job hunt, shall we? 

 

Coming in the next 4 weeks:

 

Whining about the things I want to do but can't afford because I'm unemployed. 

Whining about being fat. 

Massive freakouts about the job search. 

Fighting like hell to stay motivated and on top of things to hone my skillz.

Being drained from networking events.

Fighting to focus on 1 task or 1 group of tasks at a time. 

Unfucking my body.

Ruck vids. Tank, I still owe you a Church Ruck and I haven't forgotten; Rurik, I owe you another Hipster Ruck.

Maybe a really cheap weeknight 5k with the DH's running club. 

Getting back to eating right - starting today - and back on My Fitness Pal. 

Not eating allthebagels. Daaaaaaaamn, I want a bagel and some fries. 

And yogas. I need lots of yogas. 

Plus: less TV. I may or may not add that as an official challenge goal once week 1 starts. 

And I'll probably go on another minimalism binge if I get bored. 

 

Cooking actual meals needs to happen. 

 

And I may or may not attempt to be one of the cool kids by getting into the SnipperMcChitChats (what my brain has decided SnapChat should really be named) for accountability.

 

Or, I may be lazy and just post pics here. We shall see. 

 

Updates to come as I codify actual goals out of that mess above. Too happy to be home to wait until thoughts some order are in.

Well, there's your problem; you're trying to wear two pairs. I suggest you try one.

 

Also, you had to use the B word and I'm low-ish carbing it, but I now have a desire to get to Trader Joe's for a pack of their pretzel bagels.

 

Anywho, good luck. I'll be tuning in and cheering you on/whining with you. Possibly torturing you with a video of me doing the truffle shuffle, should your "I'm fat" stuff get out of hand.

Yesterday:

Worked on job stuff + coding slides for school (I'm helping the team that makes presentations actually make their presentations - which is done in some weirdo JS Frankenstein format involving inline styling and zero control)

Attended an informational talk given by a recruiter + gave her my info

Attended my weekly slides meeting

Identified a few jobs I'll apply for.

Kept my macros pretty good - 1,397 calories, 102g carbs (2g over), 88g fat & 75g protein

Had my typical green smoothie & coffee with almond milk for breakfast, a roast beef & pepperoni sandwich on romaine lettuce "bread" with a mini thing of guac and nut thin chips for lunch, a quick sautée of chicken thighs, zoodles, lemon & butter for dinner, and lots of cherries and grapes for dessert.

Also got to the gym for a podcasts' worth of treadmill hills walking, since it was raining most of yesterday and the yoga thing I had planned on going to was liable to be rained out or gross.

Yesterday

 

Workouts: That ^ happened. 

 

Macros: Fine. Breakfast: smoothie/coffee | Lunch: chicken avocado salad with kinda crap dressing from Pret + a bunch of cashews | Dinner: (paleo) pulled pork taco bowl from Tres Carnes (basically Chipotle). Hit 1,389 calories | 76g carbs | 80g fat | 100g protein

 

Went to a Sass meetup and met one person keen on helping me find a job, hung out with classmates at school and got a little work done (namely updating my info on job boards), came up with about 9893483 other meetups and things I need to attend, and spent time talking with the faculty co-head for the school I went to - who happens to live in my building and happened to be out at the same time I was. 

 

Up for today: working on the slideshow thing I'm doing, some light job board perusal in prep for Monday's getting my proverbial shit together to actually apply for places, and taking it fairly easy on my burning hip socket. 

 

In good other news: Just stopping eating like a damn ninny for 2 days has me down 2 lbs. and back within heavier-than-I-want-but-acceptable given the amount of effort I'm *not* expending re: working out range.

I fought the wind - especially on the bridge - to keep my hat pretty much constantly. So much so, it kept the sun off my face - but not shoulders. Damn wind negating sun hat effectiveness.

Workouts: historical rest day - walked over 2 miles getting dinner.

Macros: 1,263 calories | 55g carbs | 86g fat | 83g protein

Breakfast: nut thins 100 calorie pack as a late breakfast + coffee with almond milk;

Lunch: roast beef & pepperoni lettuce wrap sandwich + little pack of guac + nut thins snack pack;

Dinner: collard & lettuce & pecan salad with fried chicken strips;

Snacks: bunch of grapes + pepperoni

Other: worked on slides and identified a few more jobs to apply for.

Also caught up on NF boards.

Yesterday

Walked a bunch around Brooklyn when we couldn't think of anything to actually do.

Food was pretty good - 1,260 calories | 101g carbs | 56g fat | 79g protein

Woke up too late for breakfast + wasn't hungry, so all I had was a coconut cafe misto

Lunch was had at a bbq place - smoked pulled pork, smoked brisket & a side of not cooked to death collards

And dinner was delivery Mediterranean - chicken kebab, half my hummus, cucumber salad, red cabbage salad, and carrot sticks.

Other: finished this week's slides, did some research into the type of auth I need to figure out for the MEAN stack application I'm working to improve.

Caught up on boards & peer pressured myself into signing up for the mini.

Awesome Ruck! I loved the church. The housing is usually for church staff, I believe in Episcopal life they call it a rectory, since one of the words for local church pastor is Rector (Darn near Killed 'er!). An Episcopalian once described the denomination to me as "Diet Catholic."

 

I didn't realize how much I missed your ruck videos till they came back.
