Legs, upper back and neck are easy to reach but I find arms a bit more difficult ... maybe because I bought the long Tiger Tail. I also use lacrosse balls if I have a particularly tight spot.

 

I've been considering a foam roller for a while.  I have a few recurrent tight spots that could use some specific attention and I'm not dextrous enough to massage them out myself.  I like the look of this range, and that they have instructions on how to use it (the biggest thing that's put me off getting one is not knowing what to do with it).  I think this may well be a future reward for me :)

Week 01 Day 06 - Friday 17 June 2016

 

Steps: 5583

  • Treadlift was shoulders, fun! 
  • Foam rolling done, it was good - especially around my calves and above my knees.
  • So late home after work I didn't manage to walk with Harry at all :apologetic:
  • Added 2 photos to my 365 days of Edna project.

 

Week 01 Day 07 - Saturday 18 June 2016

 

Steps: 7594

  • Walked down town early to attend my eye test appointment, that was a mile done for the good airship Rumrunner. Normally I would have gone in the car but the walk felt good and I remember that I like to be outside walking early in the morning, getting the dew on my shoes!
  • Took Edna with me to town and got 3 photos uploaded towards my 365 project.

  • Steppage: 7 out of 7
  • Catch up: day 176 out of 232

Week 02 Day 02 - Monday 20 June 2016

 

Steps: 8242

  • Treadlift done, improved on the weights (did heavier) and increased the incline on the treadmill. Awesome!
  • Foam rolling done. My legs really needed it and were thankful!
  • Got in a 45 min walk with Harry. It was so muddy after all the rain we have been having. So much for the start of summer!
  • Uploaded 1 photo to my 365.
  • Bonus snackage note: have reduced my chocolate button portion from 20g to 18g and my almonds from 15 to 10. This still keeps me going at the time when I need it but fits in better with my goals. I am not really craving a lot of chocolate now that I am eating a small portion every day, and I have not done a chocolate binge for a long, long time!

I rarely enjoy foam rolling while I'm doing it, but I always feel so much better after I finish. Nicely done all around.

Week 02 Day 03 - Tuesday 21 June 2016

 

Steps: 8590

  • Did my treadlift workout and BONUS got 25 barbell squats (50kg) in for the crew of the Rumrunner :apple:
  • Thighs sore, foam rolling was gooooooood.
  • Another muddy walk with Harry. There was too much going on in the field tonight and he did not want to hang around and play so it was more of a 35 or 40 min walk.

  • A day off from treadlift, went for a morning walk and for a long walk with Harry in the evening.
  • Got the DOMS from Tuesday, foam rolling done and helpful.

The gym was practically empty this morning, so I used my 20-secs of courage to approach the trainer and ask for some help. The conversation went something like this:

 

  • Me: Hi, can you help me set up the cable pulleys please? I've never used them before.
  • Trainer: OK, what do you want to use them for?
  • Me: *looks at notebook* Well today I need to do lat pull downs. Can you show me how to set them up on the cables please?
  • Trainer: We have a really good machine for that.
  • Me: Great, but I want to learn how to set up the cables.
  • Trainer: But you can do lat pulls on this machine over here ...

 

So you kind of get the idea.

Guh. That is obnoxious. I imagine that the trainer thought that they were only trying to help, but it is unfortunate that they didn't just show you what you were asking.

Week 02 Day 05 - Thursday 23 June 2016

 

Steps: 8950

  • Did my treadlift, eventually (!) got to use the cable machine and did some lat pull downs. Actually I enjoyed them! It was good to use a different machine and I can see plenty of potential there. It even has handles at the top of the cable machine where I could practice hanging from so it could be used to learn pullups. Anyway, I set up a step under the cable to sit on for the pull downs and was able to do some reverse crunches on the step as well as getting 25 squats in for the airship Rumrunner.
  • Feeling my core muscles (that was good as it was core day) and was able to do good foam rolling to help. 
  • Uploaded 2 photos towards my 365.
  • After visiting the polling station to vote, I walked with Harry for about 45 minutes. Played plenty of "fetch" tonight.
