Big_Show
Hello Rangers, I'm back! I've spent the last couple of challenges over at my Battle Log but this seemed like the opportune moment to come back again. Since the end of March I've started lifting and been trying to drop weight. This went really well for the first five weeks or so, but then my weight loss plateaued. This was mainly due to an increase in lapses in my diet, so I've come over here for the extra accountability. to keep me honest. I go on holiday to Boston & NY right at the end of this challenge, so it's the perfect countdown to my trip. Although I do have to beware of once again following so many threads that I spend my time catching up on them instead of working on my goals. It's a tricky balance, I have another major incentive to stick to this too - in March I took some starting photos of me in just my undercrackers and gave them to a friend for safekeeping. The deal is, if I do not take a picture of myself on holiday shirtless at a pool/beach etc., he will post the starting photos all over Facebook whether I like it or not. So either I get myself into a shape where I'm comfortable being photographed, or this happens. Actions have consequences! At the moment I weigh 107.5kg. I've noticeabley dropped weight from my face and chest, but it's still stubbornly clinging to my midriff. Four weeks is time enough to safely knock another 4kg off that, and if do it correctly it'll all come from my waistline. With that in mind, I have come up with the following goals for this challenge: 1) Eat clean (1 cheat/week) - after all this time on NF it's perfectly obvious what I should be eating and how much, and I have documented proof of what works as well. Add in to that the fact that it's currently Ramadan and eating/drinking in public is banned during daylight (including in the office) and my ability to snack is immediately curtailed. This really is the perfect opportunity to cut. I'll still allow myself one night to cut loose a bit, but nothing crazy. There are very few possibilities to socialise during this time, so I'll need to be flexible otherwise I'll end up a hermit 2) Lift 3x per week - after getting a few PT sessions to show me the correct form, I've been doing the Barbell Battallion workouts from the NF Academy for the last couple of months. I'm making progress (despite a few setbacks due to a wrist injury which hampered my bench & OHP for a bit), and I'm going to carry on with this until my holiday, throwing in some bodyweight workouts every so often as well. 3) Average 5km of rowing daily - it is now far too hot to run outside over here so I've had to stop running completely, so I'm shooting for an average of 5km per day on the rowing machine. I don't necessarily have to row every single day, just as long as the average ends up at or above 5km by the end of the month. 4) Decontaminate the batcave - it really is just a big mess. I always keep the kitchen clean & tidy, but I'm rubbish at keeping on top of the rest of the housework. I'm going to do something daily to make it cleaner/tidier/less obviously bachelor-inhabited, while also maintaining the bits I have already improved. This all kicks off tomorrow. If I don't check in daily on how all four goals are going, please feel free to kick my big fat arse for me. I need it! 12 Quote Big Show: Human Swift Hunter Respawning. One day at a time. Big_Show
Ok, so the first two days of the challenge have got off to a good start. Yesterday I was still feelinga bit rubbish but managed to row a 5k, so that's a start. Today I was at the gym after work: - w/u - Bench Press - 5x5: (10xbar) (5x77lbs) (5x88lbs) (5x99lbs) 5x 5x126.5lbs - Barbell Squats - 5x5: (10xbar) (5x110lbs) (5x132lbs) (5x154lbs) 5x 5x192.5lbs - Press-ups - 3x10 - DB Step-ups - 3x20: 2x40lbs - Plank - 30sx3 - c/d After dropping the weight down last week as I got back into it, this workout saw me get back to matching my PBs on the bench and the squats. This means that next time round I'll be back to pushing those n00b gainz further - looking forward to breaking 200lbs for the squat! As for Decontaminating the Batcave, yesterday I cleaned the kitchen and today i emptied all the bins in the flat. I've also added the latter to my To Do list (on Habitica.com) so I'll do the same every weekend now. Watching some crappy TV before bed now that I've got everything done - early start tomorrow, and then another 10k row after work to look forward to! 8 Quote Big Show: Human Swift Hunter Respawning. Big_Show
Three days in, still going well so far! 1) Eat clean (1 cheat/week) Eaten well again today, the inability to snack at work definitely makes it easier. I'm in a workshop all day tomorrow so it'll also be severely limited, but I also won't be able to get any coffee! Somebody may die, and it won't necessarily be me... 2) Lift 3x per week - Rest from this, looking forward to tomorrow's deadlifts though. 3) Average 5km of rowing daily - had originally planned a 10k tonight, but it was a veeeeery long day at work and so I cut that down to my minimum 5k (20:56.1); I'll make up the balance over the next few days to keep my average up. 4) Decontaminate the batcave - cleaned the bathroom sink. Nice and simple goals this time round, hopefully that means I'll stick to them for a bit longer than usual! 8 Quote Big Show: Human Swift Hunter Respawning. One day at a time.
