Yoga therapy this morning, then a rest period before lunch and a hike up Read Mountain, which was lovely indeed, and a bit of a surprise piece of wilderness right in the middle of town.

Yoga this morning, then the repeat appointment with University HR to have a session where we all talked it out. It was good, but draining, and I took a rest period afterward.

Then we hit the gym:

  • Walked 1.5 miles
  • 48 back extensions
  • 32 inclined sit ups
  • Weights
    • 12@7.5# (l,r) skull crushers
    • 12@7.5# (l,r) fly
    • 12@7.5# (l,r) swimmers press
    • 12@7.5# (l,r) some weird thing where I take the weight out behind me from a 90 degree elbow
  • 20 minute sauna meditation, which was perfectly brilliant.

At home, we whipped up some slaw dressing and put it on a bowl of spinach,  broccoli, carrots and red cabbage, and had rice and chicken to go with it. I had extra broccoli,because it's just so darned yummy, and we played a hand of cards before  cleaning up the kitchen and calling the day complete. We have a movie we might watch, and bedtime has been easy and restful this past week.

Yesterday's hike up Poor Mountain was our farthest yet, coming in at 4.5 miles.

There was a ton of downed trees and debris from the storms that have ripped through, and we seemed to have been the first through the trail, so it was a bit of service work as well as a wonderful way to spend the day.

Did the elliptical for three whole minutes - this is new.

Walked a mile, did a minute plank and 30 seconds each side. Side planks are new.

Spent a couple minutes in the hot tub.

Thank you so much for the reminder!

I did a look-back and my resting heart rate was 92, as an average, for November 2015. Today, it's 63, and has been in the sixties for nearly a week. That, my dear, is a solid Druid win.

 

So much has happened in the last six months, all of it good, even when it was strange and new and I didn't understand yet. I have learned a great deal about faith and surrender and peace.

 

After the gym and a rest, I went to lunch with a friend, then Harvey and I went to acupuncture. Then on to pick up fruit and vegetables for the week at the farmers market, came home and made quinoa tabouli, sourdough bread and did a bit of yoga at home before dinner. We watched two more episodes of Mr. Robot and then off to bed.

 

Looking forward to yoga therapy tomorrow morning at dawn.

Wow. Sorry for the disappearing act.

Thursday afternoon saw some furniture delivery and all the shenanigans that go along with new furniture coming in and old furniture leaving.

Friday to today have been very emotional, healing, important, and loving all at the same. There has been some powerful transformation going on.

 

Acupuncture today, then fruit and veggies from the farmers market, and home for cleaning while we made bread. Dinner was bread with slaw (homemade dressing and a bunch of vegetables to make room for this week's delivery), homemade bruschetta (had to do something with all that basil!!) and steamed snap peas.

I've been swamped with classes and the foundation stuff and school paperwork -- all in a good way. I have another 80 pages (of 180) to read this week and another three essays (of six) to write before Saturday morning class, and a book about the power of asking to finish sometime as well. This is the way weeks are in the summer.

 

I haven't made it to the gym since Friday, and my body is feeling the lack of sauna. I have yoga therapy tomorrow morning to start the day (7a.m.) and I'm completely looking forward to it. No hikes in the past few days either, hopefully to also change tomorrow.

Yesterday dawned early on activity,starting with yoga therapy just after dawn, a beautiful spot in my week that I have come to rely on as I make my way through the changes of my life's path.

We went up the AT to Dragon's Tooth yesterday. It was so humid, we our clothes were damp within the first mile, and the mosquitoes really showed the strength and merit of our Badger bug stick.

I was relaxed-tired from yoga when we started out, but never really got worn out, a sign I take as a real win.

At the foot of the trail as we returned, a miss covered rock caught Harvey's attention, and I noticed it looked like a happy, hippie bear. Too cute.

Today is hard.

As thought the shootings this week weren't bringing their own form of stress, there are the inner workings of my own mind to contend with.
