honeybadger
This time around I will be keeping my categories the same and making some small adjustment to the specific goals. Last challenge went well overall while leaving plenty of room for improvement. Zero week was a week of lazy (I also worked 3 days so lazy in the sense of working out). I am recharged and ready to take on this challenge. 1. DON'T BE LAZY As I mentioned last challenge, I like watching TV and reading and playing with my dog way more than running or going to the gym. Last challenge I was able to hit met goals on a consistent basis and actually did much more exercise than planned. I feel good about this. I want to continue to work on my RWRing. I want to incorporate some weight training back into my routine. I have plenty of time and a variety of weights at home. I also have plenty of excuses so this could be a challenge. Goal 1. Exercise at least 3-4x/week Goal 2. Run at least 2x/week (aiming for one run to be RWR) Goal 3. Lift things at least 3x/week. This will include squats and at least one ab exercise. Other than that I will be using this challenge to work on establishing a routine that I can stick with. It might take some trial and error. 2. DON'T EAT LIKE AN A**HOLE My diet was better this past challenge. I ate better food I just ate too much of it. I managed to log most everything in MFP including my exercise. This is what contributed to my eating more calories than I should have (albeit of healthy food). This time around I will note my exercise in MFP rather than log it so the calories won't be adjusted. I am back on the wagon in regards to candy. I had one slip up but otherwise stuck to this goal which I will be keeping. I would be lying if I said that I am not more than a little frustrated with my weight plateauing. I did…do... a fair amount of brooding and wallowing in self pity about this. I have always had to work hard at maintaing a "normal" healthy weight. I have never watched my diet so closely and worked so hard a losing weight with such little progress. Sometimes it is hard to stay the course without going a little bingey. I am trying to be patient. I'm not too far away. Goal 4. Zero candy unless I'm at the movies. I can't be trusted without having this as a specific goal. It stays!!!! Goal 5. Eat grain/gluten free at least 4 days a week. I don't know if it is worth having this as a goal moving forward. I eat very little gluten or grain anymore. I'll keep it for now. Goal 6. Log all meals in MFP, staying within my calorie allowance. 3. DON'T BE ANTISOCIAL I did ok last challenge. Not great, but ok. Passible at best. I will keep these goals. I have changed goal 9 from 2 friends to 1. I reconnected with a friend last challenge. We are trying to get together more regularly. If this does not happen because I am lame I will readjust goal 9. Goal 7. Keep up with Rangers I am following! Read, post, repeat! No excuses. Sometimes it's hard to contribute to the conversations… another joy of social anxiety. Goal 8. Post on my own thread. At least 3x/week. I filter too much and worry too much. I need to work on this and just post. Goal 9. Reach out to at least 1 friend I haven't seen or talked to in a while. Bonus points for making plans. Not too many changes. 5 Quote Ranger/Recruit/Professional Do-gooder Challenge #1, Challenge #2, Challenge #3, Challenge #4, Challenge #5, Challenge #6 Challenge #7, Challenge #8, Challenge #9, Challenge #10, Challenge #11, Challenge #12, Challenge #13, Challenge #14, Challenge #15, Challenge #16 , Current Challenge "The Hardest thing in this world is to live in it. honeybadger
Sunday run-day! I did an easy 2 miles on the dreadmill (21:3something). I would have pushed harder but I did an endurance ride yesterday and wanted to save my legs for spin tomorrow. Calories came in right on target but I'm feeling more than a little hungry. I did notice that a few people I have followed I am no longer following….ugh technology. honeybadger
Made it to spin today. So happy that I took it easy on Sunday run-day because it was a sprint ride. We do sprints almost every ride but this is a specific ride we do every 6-8 weeks. It is 1 minute sprints with 2 minutes of recovery basically until you want to die… and then twice more. I also realized that I forgot to wear deodorant. I was that girl. I also got a honk and wave from a man in a truck while I was leaving the gym. He was obviously so captivated by my Rangerly physique that he forgot all about socially acceptable behaviors. 3 hours ago, Tanktimus the Encourager said: Real World Running, as opposed to the dreadmill. Thanks Tank! You got to this before I did. Blonde-E welcome! Happy to have you! I have a long standing love of dreadmill running. I L O V E my dreadmill runs for so many reasons. RWR has been a big challenge for me and I would love to maybe join a running group. I needed to set a goal to do some RWR or I would spend all my time in the gym (no so Rangerly, yet totally acceptable if that's what you are into). 12 hours ago, Raxie said: Great day one! honeybadger
Today was a rest day for me. I took my furry beastie to the dog park for the first time. It was not a total disaster. The first dog she me was a fairly assertive, dominant, and well over 30lb dog that scared her by basically eating her head and barking at her. I should mention that my dog is 17lbs and was on the appropriate side of the park. A bunch of other small dogs/puppies showed up and what happened? My dog ignored them and played with the people. I tried to ignore the people and played with the dogs. That's not entirely true, I did make some awkward conversation with strangers. I might count this toward my "don't be anti-social" goal. My diet today was full of gluten but totally within my calorie allowance. Yesterday I went over my calories by around 200 cal. I am ok with that given the fact that I made it to spin. 2 Quote Ranger/Recruit/Professional Do-gooder Challenge #1, Challenge #2, Challenge #3, Challenge #4, Challenge #5, Challenge #6 Challenge #7, Challenge #8, Challenge #9, Challenge #10, Challenge #11, Challenge #12, Challenge #13, Challenge #14, Challenge #15, Challenge #16 , Current Challenge "The Hardest thing in this world is to live in it. I'm the person playing with all the dogs, and my greyhound is the dog that just wants to hang with all the people. My pit-mix tries really, REALLY hard to dog... but he's such a complete goof, he ends up spending most of the time running after the pack with this look on his face like, "Hey! Hey, where are we going? Guys? Hey!" I would totally count the escapade towards your social goal. honeybadger
Haven't reported in a few days so here is what I have been up to. Spoiler alert…not super exciting. Consider yourselves warned. Wednesday I basically loafed around. Ran some errands. Did minimal adulting. It was actually pretty hot so I decided against doing a RWR and rode the recumbent bike and did my first weight routine. It was fine felt awkward since I haven't lifted for a loooong time. I am going slow and working out what my routine will be. Thursday I worked. I have no more work obligations until August. While at work I ate in the dining hall because it was free. It was gross and made my stomach really upset. Note to self- remember to avoid the dining hall in the fall. Today I went for a RWR. I was nervous because I did not do a RWR zero week and my last RWR was less than great. After putting off running until almost 5pm because I was anxious, I sucked it up and ran. It went better than expected. Garmin tells me I ran 2.16 miles in 22:15. Mile 1 was 10:42, mile 2 9:58. I cut my run short because biology. I also lifted today. I won't get 3 days in this week but I am happy with 2. My calories were over yesterday by 300. Damn you cheese! As of last night I was only over by 150 for the week. So it seems like the calories are balancing out. I definitely need to focus more on eating better food and not only focusing on staying within my calorie limits. Cheese, ice cream, oven fries…. In other news, I took my furry beastie to the vet for her second round of shots. The vet tech was so nice and said how nice it was that my dog is always so happy to see them even when she is getting shots. It made me feel better about my dog's general lack of social skills. 3 Quote Ranger/Recruit/Professional Do-gooder Challenge #1, Challenge #2, Challenge #3, Challenge #4, Challenge #5, Challenge #6 Challenge #7, Challenge #8, Challenge #9, Challenge #10, Challenge #11, Challenge #12, Challenge #13, Challenge #14, Challenge #15, Challenge #16 , Current Challenge "The Hardest thing in this world is to live in it. honeybadger
Week 1 was a good week. Here is what it looked like. 1. DON'T BE LAZY Goal 1. Exercise at least 3-4x/week-Rangered! Run, Spin, Bike, Run! Goal 2. Run at least 2x/week Rangered! Sunday DM, Friday RWR Goal 3. Lift things at least 3x 2x/week. This will include squats and at least one ab exercise. I did this twice. 2x/week feels more realistic. Goal edited. Each workout looked a little different but that's ok. 2. DON'T EAT LIKE AN A**HOLE So far doing better. I'm still not super happy with all my food choices. I need to be better at eating good food and staying within my calorie goals. I seem to have flip flopped from eating too much but good stuff to eating the right amount but not as good quality. I am very adept at finding the loopholes in my diet goals. I am my own worst enemy. Goal 4. Zero candy unless I'm at the movies. Rangered! Goal 5. Eat grain/gluten free at least 4 days a week. Rangered! 4/7 days GF/GrF. I did eat more gluten and grain than I would have liked however. Goal 6. Log all meals in MFP, staying within my calorie allowance. Rangered! I went over a few days and under a few. Ultimately I think I was very close to even! 3. DON'T BE ANTISOCIAL Goal 7. Keep up with Rangers I am following! Read, post, repeat! No excuses. Sometimes it's hard to contribute to the conversations… another joy of social anxiety. Rangered! I'm even caught up with Tank's thread! I don't know how that happened... Goal 8. Post on my own thread. At least 3x/week. Rangered! Goal 9. Reach out to at least 1 friend I haven't seen or talked to in a while. Bonus points for making plans. Not Rangered. Though not officially a goal, I did bring my dog to the dog park twice this week. I made awkward conversation with strangers while my dog ignored her furry playmates. Today is Sunday-Runday. I did 40 minutes (3.68 mi) on the dreadmill. Having chinese food for father's day dinner. I'm going to try to find the least diet sabotaging option. I added some new songs to my running playlist but, unfortunately, today's run is delayed due to some tummy troubles. Hopefully it will subside and I will get a RWR in later this afternoon. If there is a silver lining I think I have identified at least three foods that trigger my tummy troubles. They are popcorn, legumes (peanut butter is not my friend, it makes me sad to admit this), and whole nuts.
