Project: Rebirth

CLASSIFIED

After successfully completing phase 3 of the project Rebirth (see file: Project: Rebirth, Subject: Allycat2407, Phase: 3), subject Allycat2407 will be entering phase 4. This phase will commence on Monday June 13 and will end on Sunday July 10. The starting weight as measured on Monday June 13 was 92.1 kg (203. lbs). There will be weekly weigh-ins on Monday morning, with a final weigh-in on Monday July 11.

The first three phases of the project Rebirth were beginner bootcamp. The subject has shown aptitude for body weight exercises, biking, and swimming, consequently the subject has been reassigned to the rangers.

During this phase, the subject will be working toward the following objectives:

  • Fitness objective #1: Complete NerdFitness beginner body weight circuits exactly 3 times a week.
  • Fitness objective #2: Go swimming exactly twice a week.
  • Fitness objective #3: Bike on a hometrainer exactly once a week.
  • Dietary objective #1: Eat snacks and/or drink alcohol on no more than 2 days a week and on such a "treat day", have no more than one portion of each type drink or snack (having one of many different things is fine).
  • Level up your life objective #1: Stop biting nails and rims.

Subject is expected to keep track of weekly progress in this file.

Signed,

Capt. F. Castle

So far so good, but on Thursday I was a little pressed for time, so I had to rush through the whole workout in record time. The next morning I went swimming as planned. Later that night I got DOMS, which I still have :( Because of that (and too little sleep from a party on Friday night), I decided to make Saturday my skip day. Hopefully I can go at it again later today.

The first week is done, so here is my official progress report.

  • Fitness objective #1: I complete NerdFitness beginner body weight circuits exactly 3 times a week. A
  • Fitness objective #2: I went swimming exactly twice a week. A
  • Fitness objective #3: I biked on a hometrainer exactly once a week. A
  • Dietary objective #1: I had two treat days and kept to the restrictions. A
  • Level up your life objective #1: I bit my nails and rims on day one and two, but not after. B
  • Starting weight: 92.1 kg (203 lbs)
  • Final weight: 90.3 kg (199 lbs)

Obviously, I'm very happy with this weight loss. On Thursday I went out to an all-you-can-eat tapas restaurant with friends on a non-treat day, I stuck to water and did not get any desert, opting for the vegetable dishes instead. I had a lovely time and thoroughly enjoyed myself without overeating, so I'm proud of that.

The second week is done, so here is my official progress report.

  • Level up your life objective #1: I bit my nails and rims on two days. B
  • Starting weight: 90.3 kg (199 lbs)
  • Final weight: 89.4 kg (197 lbs)

On Friday night, after completing the circuit training (which I do with incline push ups) I tried doing a normal push up again and failed miserably. I still can't do a single one. This was quite demotivating. I've done 50 body weight circuits since early March, steadily increasing the number of reps until I could do the whole circuit 3 times as prescribed. For the dumbbell rows I'm on 15 kg (33 lbs) now. Still no proper push ups though :(

Bad news! I was sick last week: nothing serious, just the flu, but enough to make me fail the challenge for last week. It was mostly on Tuesday and Wednesday. After that, while I was recovering, I sort of relapsed into eating poorer than I had in a while (although I wouldn't say I binged on the bad stuff). I also did not exercise, because I was feeling rather weak still. The last two days were regularly scheduled treat days. Regardless I still lost some weight.

  • Starting weight: 89.4 kg (197 lbs)
  • Final weight: 89.0 kg (196 lbs)

If I'm being honest with myself, I think I was maybe pushing myself a bit too much with the fitness objectives. I was no longer feeling reinvigorated from exercising, but just very, very tired. So, I decided that I will extend/amend the challenge. The second half of this challenge will run for 12 days from today, Monday July 4, until Friday July 15, with a final weigh-in on Satuday July 16. I'm switching my end date, because my summer plans starts that day and I want to try something different during that period. My objectives for these 12 days will be:

  • Treat day: alcohol and snacks with sugar or saturated fats only from Saturday July 9, 16:00 until Monday July 10, 04:00.
  • Home trainer: 2 days x 40 mins
  • Swimming: 2 days x 60 mins
  • NerdFitness beginner bodyweight circuits: 4 days
  • Rest days: 4 days

Hopefully, this slightly more forgiving regime will fit in with my schedule a little better. What do you guys think? Am I letting myself off the hook too easily? Or, does this make sense?

Looks like a solid plan. Listening to your body and making adjustments is always wise.
