Emerald_Dragonfly
The theme (motif?) this month: positive lifting, positive eating, positive weighing in, positively jamming out to excellent music. Goals: 1. Lift 3x per week - likely my last month of SL - make it count! 2. Solid and positive food choices, continue to send daily food log to TZ, as long as she is willing. :-) 3. weigh in each day - treat this as data - post here - not the actual weight (too much stress), but a simple up or down will suffice for now. LUYL: FUN! Music makes everything better. So I will post some of my favorite tunes on my thread. Beware, nerds, my musical tastes are eclectic at best, bizarre at worst. Please to enjoy. 10 Quote ~Emerald_Dragonfly Level 13 Warrior Link to comment

I probably missed this, but what are you switching to after SL, and what made you decide it was time to switch? Going to 5/3/1 as soon as my home gym is finished. Leaving SL because I feel like I need a program that isn't quite so intense. Squatting 3x per week heavier every time is feeling pretty brutal. Also I need something with some room for conditioning and something that doesn't make me quite so hangry. I'm not officially "cutting" but I am heading in that direction (weighing for data, keeping an eye on my food choices, etc.), and while I love-love-love lifting heavy, I need to pull back just a tad to help with all of the stuff just mentioned. 2 hours ago, ixaera said: Here for this! Sounds like your goals are generally similar to mine. I really enjoy lifting, but trying to get just the right balance of food to lift heavy while losing weight is hard, unless I can also find the time to sleep for 10-12 hours per night. And honestly, I do enjoy and want to do other fitnessy things. 1 Quote Challenge Link to comment
Emerald_Dragonfly
Today: down on the scale from yesterday a smidge Training Session, in pounds: Squats 2 x 5 at 45 1 x 5 at 95 1 x 5 at 135 1 x 3 at 185 3 x 3 at 200 (PR for reps!) OHP 2 x 5 at 45 1 x 5 at 65 1 x 3 at 85 3 x 2 at 110 - just didn't have that third rep in me on any of them. Still! PR!!! and for reps!!! DL 1 x 5 at 45 RDL 1 x 5 at 135 1 x 5 at 185 1x 2 at 215 1 x 1 at 185 1 x 5 at 135 So, DL was a bit of a mess. It didn't feel "right" so I backed down the weights. I'll need to video to see what the heck is going on. I felt like my DL form felt pretty good until all of a sudden, it didn't. 215 is still a deload for me, but it feels sloppy and round instead of tight and hinged. (To compare, 225 felt tight and hinged, then I took 2 weeks off cuz of hip trouble - which I think was actually caused by benching, not by DL - now working back up it feels sloppy.) Sigh. I am okay with deloading, though. Not too much ego, just don't want to hurt myself. Oh...and I most definitely was not silent at the gym today. ;-) (Yes, the original is incomparable, but this one of the better covers I have heard of this heavily covered song. I'm not a huge Disturbed fan, but in my opinion, this is very, very good. Plus they killed it live on Conan, too. A really nice crescendo. The singer gets pretty gritty, without losing the melody & key, too - which is difficult.) 4 Quote ~Emerald_Dragonfly Level 13 Warrior Link to comment

I have a similar issue with deadlifts... they'll be going swimmingly and then I start to have trouble with my back rounding and they feel blegh. I think I figured out the setup issue that was hindering me this latest time - I'm sure with some experimenting you'll do the same!
