Let's make it my themed challenge this month! D.Va - Gaming 100% Uncharted 4 and Collect the 5 dragons in DragonVale Genji - Agility Practice yoga on off days and stretch until splits (front ways, both legs) are obtained Symmetra - Knowledge Read 30 mins a day and finish two books this challenge Zarya - Strength Green Arrow workout MWSa and Handstand progression everyday Lucio - Music Learn all the words to a tough song. Mercy - Spirit Read at least one chapter of the Bible a week and continue to go to church every Sunday Winston - Health Have one side of fruit or veggies with lunch and dinner Well that's it! I may have bitten off way more than I can chew.... but oh well. Live and Learn. Lilmissbri Posted July 13, 2016 Author Report Share Posted July 13, 2016 In preparation for my upcoming challenge, I'm going to give my beginning stats and such of each category. D. Va Gaming I've already completed the game and am working on getting those last few trophies. Specifically, completing the game on Crushing mode and the speed run (which is somewhat glitchy?) AKA Trophies: Charted! - Crushing (which will unlock Charted! - Hard) and Charted! - Speedrun. Doing these two will inevitably unlock some other trophies I need like Unstoppable! and Sharpshooter. With DragonVale, there is an event right now so I'm aiming to collect the 4 event dragons as well as bread 4 dragons that aren't limited so all the ones I need from here on out are limited and I can focus on them when the time comes. Genji Agility I have been doing stretch-y yoga everyday during this week Zero to keep the flexibility going! I've done yoga on my off days in the past all last challenge as well as stretch for ~20 minutes after a workout and BOY have I felt and seen a difference. I was never one to touch my toes or reach the floor, but now I'm getting gosh darn close! I took measurements today and my splits on the Left Side = 6 inch from the ground. Right Side = 5 and 1/4 inch from the ground. From taking pictures, I already noticed how much more upright I am on my right side than the left... hmm... something to work on. Symmetra Knowledge I'm almost done with Game of Thrones and then my book club will start! Yay! We will be reading School of Good and Evil : A World Without Princes. I'm excited as it's a kids book and should be a very fast read compared to Game of Thrones. haha. If I finish it within the month, I want to up this part of the challenge to three books, but We shall see. Zarya Strength I will be doing this Green Arrow bodyweight routine. I am starting on the Intro/Oliver lvl just to see how I do. Now I also want to work on my Handstand Progression. I am following Nerd Fitness's progression. Feel free to join me here with Google Sheets as I record my progress/upgrading instead of loading up the message here. Ha! (Like I haven't already done that). Zarya is also very brave, therefore I will be doing the bodyweight routine in a park when I can. Which I have found as of Week Zero Prep. Lucio Music I have always wanted to learn all the words and rap perfectly to Lose Yourself by Eminem therefore this month, I will do just that. Mwahahaha. If I perfect this song before the month is threw then I will move on to A-Team by Ed Sheeran. And since that one is a bit easier, then Ride by 21 Pilots. Mercy Spirit Right now my church is reading through Acts one chapter at a time. Therefore, I want to keep up with them and actually, truly follow along instead of just reading it on the powerpoint on Sunday. Maybe have a discussion with my husband about the latest sermon. Winston Health I'm already doing this as best as I can, but I want to track it as closely as possible. Therefore, I joined a challenge in Habitica that makes me eat a lot of veggies and fruit daily bringing me closer to a 90% Paleo diet. Yay! He does great DPS, can heal himself, and his Ulti is nice for getting those pesky healers/snipers on the other team. From there, I would suggest picking a character in each category and see what comes naturally or who you have the most fun with. That's how I chose most of my go-to's. Keep me updated on your journey! Also, YouTube videos help with specific tips and tricks and each player's role which is very helpful sometimes. Like even though D. Va is a tank, she doesn't play like the other tanks. Like complete, do nothing except continue to eat right (maybe), day off. But with this challenge I have an actual goal in gaming. Therefore, today I'm going to try to knock out some gaming goals... even if it's still technically week zero. I was more than halfway done with Uncharted 4 on Crushing mode, so today I'm continuing that save. I should be able to finish that today and then I can focus on the speed run. Which is scary. XD I just pray it doesn't glitch. I shall edit this post as I continue my play. :o) If anything interesting happens. 11:43am - Been playing for an hour at least and I think I'm on chapter 18. 12:07pm - Started Chapter 19. To be fair, I was pretty close at 11:43 but there are so many guys! How the **** do they get behind me? So frustrating. Died more times than would make me happy, but I got through. Woot! 1:11pm - Chapter 21. So not looking forward to this boss battle. *sigh* 1:22pm - Oops, Chapter 22. This is where that boss battle is.... right? 1:25pm - Oh, yeah. Here it is. 1:56pm - Hey, that wasn't so bad. The major fights with tons of guys in one room is way worse and more frustrating. Plus the epic movie I'm apart of makes the final battle amazing and the constant checkpoints. Haha. 2:12pm - And... Trophies Charted! - Crushing and Charted! - Hard are unlocked. Awww yeah. Trophies I still have to get: One Last Time (the Platinum) Charted! - Hard Charted! - Crushing Charted! - Speedrun I Thought I Heard Something Unstoppable! Sharpshooter I Accidentally All The Guns Swordmaster 2:28pm - Eh, while I'm here. Let's go for I Accidentally All The Guns. 3:06pm - Annnnnnnd. Done. 3:07pm - Hmm. I'm on a roll. I should just grind for I Thought I Heard Something. 3:30pm - Aw, yeah. 3:31pm - Let's keep it rolling. I'll get the last one that I can without playing the entire story over. Swordmaster here I come. 3:42pm - Mwahahaha! Man, was that way easier on Explorer than Crushing. Hahah. Hilarious. Welp, that's all my goals today for this game. Yeah! Ana should be very interesting. At first glance she looks to be the least powerful support character yet, but she'll definitely have her place. When did the buff on D.Va take place? I thought it was going to be the same time as Ana but she's only in the beta testers. Oh man, I wish I was good at sniping. Widow maker wrecks when your spot on people's heads. But when I did it was in a hammock with a lovely breeze. So it was nice. BTW! I have finished Game of Thrones and moved onto School of Good and Evil. Spirit / Mercy - I missed the regular service however we did go to a special service at night. With all the racial tension in the states, my church held “A Real Conversation About Race and the Church”. It had a panel of people including several black pastors across the states, 2 white pastors, the mayor, and a chief of police. It was very interesting and a needed conversation right now that everyone is scared. Health / Winston - I didn’t make my quota, but I did enjoy wonderful watermelon and corn on the cob with my in-laws. Lilmissbri Posted July 19, 2016 Author Report Share Posted July 19, 2016 Monday, July 18th - Ow Day 2 Gaming / D.Va - Meanwhile... in DragonVale. I’ve been getting the Ring Cap everyday. I recently “bought” the Fates dragon and Trimera dragon with some of the rings I’ve earned so far. I worked out that I need to collect 28,080 to get all the House dragons I want to buy in this event. And I have 14526 right now. Event goes until Sept. so I won’t finish this particular goal until then, but getting the cap everyday is necessary to get all the dragons I want. Agility / Genji - ~17 minutes of stretching Knowledge / Symmetra - Read for about an hour and about 20% done with the book! Yet, have to catch up to my book club member who is 43%!! Regardless, we Skyped and talked for a long time about the parts so far. Strength / Zarya - Oh boy. Shaky arms! O_O Even typing is felt in my biceps. Ha! Annnnd I’m a noob. I tweaked something in my back/shoulder/neck area. I was doing the PK rolls on a hard surface (like an idiot, cause I wasn't ready) and pinched my skin under my arm. Plus, I felt something under my should blade hurt. I thought I landed on end of my braid. So when I got back to my apt, I practiced a few rolls on carpet and tried a hard version (like an idiot, cause I wasn’t ready). I went super slow through the roll to make sure I was doing the technique just right (instead of using momentum) and “yep, yep, I tweaked something.” Turning my head to the right causes pain and I can’t look behind me on that side. *Sigh* So I may be taking a rest from the PK rolls in the future. But we shall see come Wednesday. Nevertheless, I was able to do the Handstand progression and such. (It’ll probably get stiff and hurt more with time, unfortunately). Lilmissbri Posted July 19, 2016 Author Report Share Posted July 19, 2016 Tuesday, July 19th - D.Va's Day 3 Strength / Zarya - So I had the idea to do a handstand progression everyday, but wow. I am freaking sore. “I have muscles right here?!” kind of sore. And my back/neck is still tweaked. (But getting better!) I’m going to change that to every MWSa and just add it after my Green Arrow routine. On the off days (Tu and Th), I’m going to focus on the Mini-Challenge and yoga stretching. Today, I did the mini-circuit 3x so far. Agility / Genji - Whoops. Accidentally clicked on a workout yoga video instead of a stretchy yoga video. Now my legs are true jelly. Ended up stretching after for about 10 minutes. Knowledge / Symmetra - 28% through School of Good and Evil. Health / Winston - Grrr… This is hard. :o/ And it’s going to be harder when I go on vacation for a friend’s wedding. Maybe I need to meal plan down to the last carrot. Hmmm… Gaming / D.Va - Overwatch’s patch came in (!!! so soon ???) meaning we can play Ana AND see D.Va’s buff. And holy crap is it a buff. It’s so nice that her shield is properly used and the self destruct actually kills people now. My average for self-destruct kills before the buff was 2 point something and now I’m getting at least 3 kills a game with my Ulti alone. It’s amazing. I EVEN GOT THE CHIBI (cute) SPRAY THAT I’VE BEEN GUNNING FOR SINCE THE BEGINNING. Can you tell I’m excited about D.Va? I loved her before the buff and now she’s my practically my main because she can be utilized in so many different ways. Oh, and Ana is cool too. I thought I’d be crap since I’m nonsense with a sniper, but she’s very noob friendly. People? You're thoughts?!? This is exciting stuff. I had no idea the patch would come through this soon. Music / Lucio - Practiced Lose Yourself today for a bit. I had about half of the first verse already in my blood before this challenge but I pretty much got the whole thing now. And of course, the chorus was already done because it is known. Lilmissbri Posted July 21, 2016 Author Report Share Posted July 21, 2016 Wednesday, July 20th - Preparation Day 4 Strength / Zarya - I did it. hahaha. That’s all I can say. I did the circuit 3 times with lots of pauses and breathing in between. Those push-up negs? Yikes. What. a. challenge. But I did it and did the handstand progression. About 42” from the wall. Neck is still hurting a tad but it’s way better than the first day and even yesterday. I can turn it now to look behind me with just some mild pain. *phew!* Agility / Genji - Stretched for like 30 minutes. Or at least it seemed like it. All of a sudden it was 9:30a and I started my workout at 8:15a. Not quite sure when I started stretching. Probably ~20 minutes. Gaming / D.Va - Got the Pixel spray for D.Va today! Woot. Fun stuff. Health / Winston - So the reason why I've been terrible with this part of my challenge is, I haven't gone shopping for more fruit! I didn't get a lot done today in general with my challenges because I was preparing for my vacation. Tomorrow through Monday I'll be out and about so updates will be on pause but I'll try my best to document everything and pursue my challenges. (Although I'm telling ya right now there's no way I'm getting Winston's done. Ha!) When I come back I'll buy lots of fruit/veggies so I can't munch all day. Spirit / Mercy - Pray for me. Yeeeaaaahhh Days 5-10 I tried eating any veggies and fruit I could when I was able. However, I kinda just ate what I wanted since I was on holiday. :o) I drank a lot of water cause it was blazing hot, but I didn't measure it so I have no idea where I was on the scale. I didn't do my prepared workout routine, but we were in the pools at the resort like.. everyday. So, I'll count swimming/wading in the pool a somewhat workout. haha I did some minimal stretching whenever I remembered. Nothing too crazy or stretchy I read in the terminals, waiting for planes. But wasn't able to read on the actual plane or at the resort. I didn't want to carry a book around, plus we were in the pool a lot! A lot of prayers were made and I made it home safe! Woot. Although I still have a lot of dizzy spells and feel like I'm flying. (blah) Regardless, these last five days were awful (nerd fitness wise) and beautiful (vacation wise)! And I intend to get back up to speed for the rest of the challenge. OH! And they had a scale in the room, so I weighed myself 139lbs! I don't ever remember being under 140!!
