After a couple of months of TERRIBLENESS wherein I gained back essentially all of the weight I lost, I'm getting back on the wagon. This challenge really put it in perspective for me that I need to be more focused on GIGO. That's old computer speak for Garbage In Garbage Out. While I don't think it applies to computers anymore (they're too smart), it definitely applies to my body. I've been feeling SO MUCH BETTER after using MyFitnessPal for the past couple of weeks. I'm losing weight again and I'm moving more. I'm starting to get back my faith in my fitting into my wedding dress. Luckily for me, I had already gained back all the weight when I went shopping for the thing, so any weight lost is helpful. Goal 1- 5 days /week of MFP tracking At least 5 days/week for 4 weeks- A +2WIS +3CON At least 5 days/week for 3 weeks- B +1WIS +2CON At least 5 days/week for 2 weeks- C +.5WIS +1CON Anything less is a fail So honestly, I'm starting small. And this goal is more along the lines of "5 days of tracking everything with accurate estimates of things you can't necessarily track." But if I'm going somewhere, I can't always use that app. My city has a TON of little local restaurants and I honestly prefer those to chains. Oh well. I don't go that often and I'm not going to completely deprive myself, that's a recipe for disaster. The tracked days SHOULD be within my calorie deficit. That's just part of the app. I have a 500 calorie deficit set so as long as I'm under maintaining levels, I'm happy. Preferring to be under the deficit levels obviously, but sometimes that's not realistic. Goal 2 days/week treadmill running 2 runs for 4 weeks- A +3STA +2DEX 2 runs for 3 weeks- B +2STA +1DEX 2 runs for 2 weeks- C +1STA +.5DEX Anything less is a fail I'm gonna drop the $39 for a gym for the next month or so. It will most definitely make my life easier with running and it's not dependent on the weather. Anyone know if I can use the Couch to 5k app on the treadmill? Or should I try something else? I don't know. But it's going to happen in the evenings after going home and eating dinner and such. Goal 3- 2 days/week of yoga 2 yogas for 4 weeks- A +3DEX +2STR 2 yogas for 3 weeks- B +2DEX +1STR 2 yogas for 2 weeks- C +1DEX +.5STR Anything less is a fail I like yoga, I don't know why I don't do it more aside from laziness. So I'll add it in since it's a good workout, a good supplement to the running, and good for my brain. One other 'goal' that I have for this challenge is that I would love to start tracking my measurements. For right now it will be day 1 and day 28 of each challenge. That's my challenge this go round. But for real, the biggest happiness isn't that after recording them I'm still coming in around 100 calories under my calorie goal, it's that I felt absolutely no guilt for eating them. I ate them, it was nice, and I didn't feel guilty forever. I've got MFP set at a 500 calorie deficit so I've been running on a 6-800 one for a while since I haven't gotten to my calorie goal most days. Some of it is a buffer since I don't record my coffee (with creamer), my tea(with milk) or my water flavoring (5 cals each, I usually drink 2 each day). But still. TheGreyJedi-Ranger Posted July 18, 2016 Author Report Share Posted July 18, 2016 My pre challenge weigh in was a little distressing, but I've been retaining water a bit and I ate something late last night that probably threw me off. But there's no physical way that I ate +4lbs worth of calories this weekend, I didn't do terribly (though I didn't do stupendously either). But I'm going to start weighing myself only once a week. Then I can back off on my scale useage. I will also record it here. I'm doing a rest day today because I'm exhausted from having Fiance visiting. Neither of us tend to sleep fantastically or a whole lot when he visits me. I'm going to get things straightened out for the week, folding my laundry and cleaning my room back up, plus doing my starting measurements. We were chatting about how we were going to do things when we live near each other (because there's a good chance he's going to be moving to my city!!!!!), and one of the big things is that we're going to massively back off on how often we eat out. Like drop down to once a week or so. We can back off from then if we decide to later but for now we've decided to make a point to go out and have 'date night' once a week. One of the biggest problems is that we both mentally associate seeing each other with a special occasion, which we're going to break ourselves of once we actually see each other regularly. I'm going to get my gym membership tomorrow. I'm going to bring food and grab dinner while I'm at work, then I can just walk to the library to drop off books, then drive over to the gym and go home afterwards. I started tracking my numbers today, and will update at least those daily, even if I don't do a post. I'm super ready to get my challenge started. (Side note: I thought today was the first day of the challenge rather than yesterday. Oops. But I've got enough time this week to get all of my goals in easily. I've got this!) I've never achieved that before. NEVER. Bad eating is my Kryptonite. Yet, I've managed to get MFP to actually feel less like a chore most of the time and more like just a part of things for now. It helps that I tend to eat a lot of the same things, but I'm glad to have something I can do that makes my life easier yet still help me with working out. Thanks!! We are right now. Short version: we grew up together, started dating about 5 yrs ago when he was just starting community college locally and I was a junior in high school. I left for college 3 years ago and aside from summer after my first year of college where I went home, we've been long distance ever since. It's a 3 hr drive and I didn't have a car until a month ago: I either had to have my parents pick me up or he came to see me when his work and finances allowed. He's got an interview for a job transfer to my city coming up in a couple of weeks and he'll hopefully be moving nearby within 2 months or so. I'm still sort of building back up from a lot of lost progress after a disaster wherein I lost my job and started taking an asthma medicine that RUINED my state of mind for about 3 months. Unfortunately, it seems to be storming. Oh well, I'm still within my 500 cal deficit. Well within, really. So I'm going to do measurements a little later before my shower to see where I'm starting at. Today I also found out that every attempt to test me for the allergies I obviously have has failed. According to the tests I don't have any, according to my allergist I do but he can't prove it. So instead of actually fixing my allergies, I have to symptom treat and keep an eye on my asthma to make sure I don't start having breathing problem again. And there are many days when it doesn't feel quite real, despite the ring I wear every day. TheGreyJedi-Ranger Posted July 20, 2016 Author Report Share Posted July 20, 2016 So.. Yesterday. Whoops. I am giving myself a break in regards to the workout because that was a bad situation. Leaving my contacts at home was dumb, but by the time I actually got home after work there was no way I was going to make it. Since I screwed up in regards to the starting date, I'm giving myself a break on the workout. I'll keep to my schedule to make my life a little easier. And my contacts are already in my gym bag. With food though... That was the most epic fail that ever epic failed. No reason behind that aside from stress and being dumb. I could've stopped and I didn't. Today will be better. I have a little bit of give in my MFP recording (though that's more for things like dinner out with my friends or when navarone comes and we go out to eat) so I haven't failed the challenge goal.
