You're doing great! I'm sure you'll be able to improve your LG score in no time. Maybe you were tired and that's why you didn't do as well as you expected?

That spreadsheet is awesome! Keep it up!

It's possible. I find it interesting that my two highest prep tests to date have both been at night. The rest of them I've done at the crack of dawn with little sleep and next to no food. I'm going to try to optimize conditions as best as I can on Saturday when I do my next prep test.

I love a spread sheet.  When I die and they go through my laptop, it will be file after file of spreadsheets.  Most of them pointless.

They're the best. I'm a data analyst by trade, so it's my life. Maybe I'll get fancy at the end of this challenge and make some data visualizations with Tableau.... hmmmm.... (*wheels turning*)

Good day yesterday, logged 11.2 miles during the commute to put me ahead of my target, which is good, because I didn't ride today. My wife needed to get her morning run in before I left for work, so I would have been late if I rode. All's well, though. If missing a day here and there helps my wife meet her fitness goals, 'tis a noble deed. Nailed the fruits/veggies goal yesterday too, maybe a little heavy on the fruit. Redid all the LGs from the PT yesterday, untimed. Went -1 through all of them, so it's not a matter of lacking the skills, just not feeling rushed so I can work through them more carefully. Practice, practice, practice.

Yesterday was a winner. I woke up too late for yoga, but early enough to ride longer than usual. I did close to 11 miles in the morning, and my usual 5.5 heading home. Helps make up for the mileage I missed Wednesday. Got my full 7 servings of veggies too. Yay salad!

Week 1 Recap:

Cycling: 42.7 miles for the week, just short of being on pace for 180.

Fruits/Veggies: 41 servings, again just short of pace.

Weight: -2 lbs. Boom.

LSAT: prep test 61; scored 171, BR'd to 177. Did at least 30 min of prep each day.

Feeling good.

Alright, alright, back to posting:

Sunday 7/24/16

Rest day on the bike. I took full advantage of my fruits and veggies, 8 servings. Then I took another prep test, scored a 169, little lower than I'd have liked, but still an improvement over where I was a few months ago.

Monday 7/25/16

Rode in the morning, wife picked me up in the afternoon thanks to a crazy air pollution advisory. Got 6 servings of f/v, and did a little LSAT review.

Tuesday 7/26/16

No bike on Tuesday, again thanks to air. Oh, also, it was my birthday. I went of the rails food-wise, cuz, birthday, but I somehow snuck in 4 servings of fruits and veggies. A bit of LSAT review at night before watching Stranger Thing. Holy Crap, that show. THAT SHOW.

Wednesday 7/27/16

Back in the saddle, a little longer ride in the morning. Racked up close to 15 miles total. Good day for veggies too, 10 servings. Finished doing LR and LG blind review.

Plan today: bike ride, finish BR for PT73, and practice my weaker areas tonight, plus salads all day.

Ok, losing ground on the updates, but keeping a daily spreadsheet has really kept me honest this challenge.

The weekend was mixed: indulged a bit much on the food side, but then on Sunday took my longest ride to date on the bike. It was unseasonably cool in the morning (read: 85 degrees), so I took the local canals for about 18 miles. It was glorious!

Here's where I am so far:

1. Mileage: 114/180

2a. Fruits/Veggies: 111/180

2b. -3 lbs

3. 2/4 tests so far. BR'd the second test to a 171, which was a little disappointing. I've done a good amount of strategic studying since, so I'm hopeful that I'll see some improvements.

Again, haven't been up to snuff on the updates, but here's where I am:

1. Mileage: 136.5/180. We had some weird weather last week that messed up my progress. But, if I can get a couple of extra miles 1 or 2 mornings this week, I can for sure hit the target.

2a. Fruits/Veggies: 154/180. So close I can taste this one. Food is finally happening for me. Something clicked over the past few days, and it's easier to make better decisions. My wife and I also made a friendly wager, losing which would make us donate $20 to a particular unsavory presidential campaign. How's that for motivation?!

2b. -3.5 lbs from the start of week 0, -2.5 from the start of week 1. Slowed down progress a bit the weekend before last, but I'm still feeling great about where I'm standing.

3. 3/4 tests so far. 169 again on test 3 this weekend. Will BR the test today. I saw good progress on the areas I studied intently last week, but let other areas slip. Going for a more balanced approach this week.

One more week, Scouts. Finish strong!

I'm feeling really pumped right now. I've had a lot of false starts this year, but managed to finish this challenge though. Here's how I finished and some reflections on the challenge.

1. 186.96 miles logged: A

2a. 186 servings of fruits and vegetables: A

2b. Lost 3.5 lbs: B

3. Took three prep tests: B

Final point average: 3.5 + .1 for the week zero bonus = 3.6

Random Reflections:

Getting into the habit of riding everyday has been so nice. I can't not exercise now. I even pushed myself to do some longer rides from time to time. I do miss running, though. I think I'll try to incorporate both into my routine somehow moving forward.

I did much better by not making it "all or nothing" like I usually do. When I fail at all or nothing, I tend to throw in the towel. Ironically, having different levels of success helped me push harder to attain the ultimate goals.

Likewise, I focused on what I could do, not what I couldn't. Instead of "no fast food," it was "eat lots of veggies." That was a much better approach for me, psychologically-speaking. And, interestingly enough, when the focus is on eating lots of good food, you find you don't have time/room for the crap.

Thank you all for following along and the words of encouragement. Next challenge will be a bit different for me. I'll keep the LSAT prep focus for the side quest, but I'll need to revamp the fitness stuff. See, I'm going in for a heart procedure on Thursday that will sideline me for a week and then I'll have to take things easy for a bit. But I'll still be here, just with some milder goals.
