Agnarr: Dovahkiin

Hello everyone!

This challenge shall be themed after one of my favourite games evah, The Elder Scrolls V - Skyrim. I’ll be channeling 3 in-game groups of characters: The companions, The Restoration Mages at the College of Winterhold and the Graybeards.

The Companions: Tamriel's Fighters Guild has no presence in Skyrim. Instead, warriors seeking adventure and kinship may join the Companions, in Whiterun. The members of this brotherhood favour honor and physical prowess. The Companions represent training, 2 Crossfit classes and 2 Bodyweight sessions a week.

864671-1342983491.jpg

The Restoration Mages: Restoration is a rather unpopular specialization among the wizards of Skyrim, especially novice ones, since the harnessing and conquer of nature’s destructive powers seems more appealing to them. Until they need a healing spell to save their lives, that is.

Restoration represents nutrition, the most unpopular element of body recomposition. Sure, exercise is all nice and fun; harnessing and conquering the destructive powers of fitness. But no amount of exercise will recompose your sorry arse if you keep stuffing your face with pizza and cake. Eat paleo with a weekly variance allowed, making daily posts of macros and caloric intake as shown by MyFitnessPal

The Greybeards: Masters of the Thu’um, the Way of the Voice. The Greybeards live in silent isolation atop Skyrim’s largest mountain called The Throat of the World. The Greybeards represent study. They study words of power to develop(in the course of a lifetime) a deep understanding of the words in Dovah-Zul, the language of dragons. Hopefully it will not take me that long to achieve sufficient understanding of the psychology textbooks to get my degree. I'll study for at least 2 pomodoros every day

Got good news from the surgeon after a complete check, which I absolutely hated BTW

TMI ALERT!

Spoiler

The only way to check the inguinal rings is to feel them with the tips of the fingers through the scrotum. A.K.A shoving a whole finger length against the nutsack in order to reach the damn rings, way up said sack.

He confirmed that the hernia was A-ok and the pain was caused by a swelling in the blood vessels around the area which would mimic the symptoms(pain, dissconfort, etc), probably due to a physical effort done with improper technique, causing to much preasure inside the abdomen while bracing.

I descibed in detail to him what CF is and he cleared me to do it but sad to give it the rest of the week to rest, so I'm starting again just in time for week 1!

Watch the sky travellers!

It's great to have you on board! But I've got a question: why wouldn't you play Skyrim?

Macros for today

Protein 137g

Carbs 30g

Fats 69g

Total calories according to MFP : 1318cal. I've put every piece of food through the scale and MyFitnessPal, so I'm confident that the calorie count is accurate enough. I haven't been hungry although I'm supposed to eat about 1800cal/day.

I'll write a proper post in the morning

Just a lack of time.  Pokémon Go has consumed a lot of my free time, plus I bought Undertale a couple of months ago and still haven't finished, and am midway through watching Legend of Korra. Lots of competing things means I can't afford to add yet another activity!  But I do love me some Skyrim - I'll definitely get back to it one of these days.

Love the way you described the restoration magic as pretty unpopular. Diet goals are not particularly fun, but important all the same. And super glad everything is ok with the hernia. Great that you will be cleared for crossfit.

Thanks!, Yes I was soooo happy when the doc told me I could  keep on doing CF

Ain't 1300 a bit on the low side? I think i would gnaw someones head off if i only got 1300 kcal in. I should be doing around 1800 a day just like you. But actually i just stopped tracking. I have been tracking for several months and have a very strict challenge this time around, so i'm confident everything will work out fine.

It is! But I'm not purpousedly undereating. I just happen not to be hungry. I might have to force feed myself a little bit

Wow, you are a busy nerd indeed :P

Since I've been feeling much better, yesterday I did something I've been aching to do all week: finally got to play around with my new gymnastic rings! They were an aniversary gift from the Girlfriend. Ain't she wonderful?
This Argentina made metal rings have a black paint coating and feel pleasantly hefty in the hand, unlike the plastic ones I've used at the box, although less grippy.
The straps are of the same material and weave as seatbelts and the buckles are sturdy AF. I'm not a ring expert at all, but they seem like good beginner level rings.
Of course, having only used rings for ring rows and the occational asisted dips, I had no idea what to do with them. Internet to the rescue! I searched for a GMB ring n00b rutine and wasn't disappointed. After trying some of the exercises (the ones I could do with the rings hanging from the pullup bar), realized I was trying to run before I learned to walk.
What I ended up doing was supporting myself in an upright position, with my scapulas as depressed as possible (there was some shrugging still) until the wobble was so intense I had to rest. Man, I felt the burn! Just supporting myself there proved to be a challenging exercise. I even tryied to do a lil' tuck sit like I used to do on the parallettes and I almost fell on my face. Rings are awesome! I'll try to wedge them in my bodyweight routine in any way I can.

As far as nutrition goes, today's macros were

Protein 150g

Carbs 86g

Fats 76g

For a total of 1597cal.

Rings are awesome! I've never tried metal rings, mine are plastic, I'd love some wooden ones. Supporting yourself on them with is a great exercise. Try and turn your elbow pits forward, with your thumbs to the side (called rings turned out) Doing that will help condition the tendons in your elbows. I bought mine last year, and just played around with them some, then this summer I bought GMB Rings 1 and am loving it.

Sounds like you had a blast on those rings, I bet they bring you much fitness in the years to come.

I was reading really fast to catch up and I mixed up the workout rings with the medically-mentioned rings for a second and OMG
