Walk to Mordor and Back Again

All who dare step outside The Shire will likely encounter many nasty adventures.

The journey is not for the faint of heart, as the typical traveler must endure years of commitment.

There will be other brave souls making the trek, providing much welcomed support and company, but only you can put one foot in front of the other.

The fate of Middle-Earth hangs in the balance... are you prepared to walk to Mordor to destroy the One Ring?

Open the spreadsheet, click on the 'Sign Up' tab at the bottom of the page, fill in all fields labeled in yellow, and begin tracking and logging your distance in the appropriate monthly tab.

This is right up my alley. I'm training for a half marathon in October so I need some motivation to get out there. :-)

Also, I'm going by CheekyNando for this challenge. Because why not have some fun?

I've been trying to do this challenge for 10 years and always fall down on the tracking and then start over again later XD But the elves have given this hobbit a magic bracelet (aka my FitBit) that tracks it for me... so I'll give it another go as long-distance walking/hiking is my current challenge. Maybe with a Fellowship will be the time it sticks!

I totally forgot about this and don't really do much in the way of "distance" cardio anymore. But I'm going to try get this back on my radar. I'm only hiking/walking like 1-2 week anymore. But I can try to estimate distance based on time spent. Also, I used to be fitjulia, so you can change my name in the spreadsheet to Taddea Zhaan. Thank you!

It was really weird to see that February was when I was tracking this last. I can't believe how time flies!

I do probably need to start making walking a thing again.... #lifting #gainz

Yes the magic bracelet [emoji6] is VERY helpful with this. I just did a month and a half of updates at once and it was super easy thanks to the fitbit app.

Welcome!! I certainly hope our Fellowship can keep this going for the years to come!

Even if you take some time off, my hope is that the spreadsheet will always be here to start up again. No more starting over, just side adventures on the way to destroying the One Ring!

Walking being a thing is always a good thing!! It is always said that slow and steady wins the race right?

Name change complete. If you did ever need to make any changes, you can do so by going to the 'Sign Up' tab at the bottom of the spreadsheet. Anything labeled in yellow is editable.

Welcome back!

Haha! Glad you like it. I spend WAY too much time obsessing over spreadsheets. An odd guilty pleasure/time waster lol.

The Loco Half Marathon, which starts and finishes in my hometown (Newmarket, NH).

I'm also doing a race called Vino and the Beasts in Connecticut in September and a Spartan Sprint at Fenway Park in November. I try not to race in the summer because it's too hot.

Sounds Crazy!! Yeah, this is likely to be the last summer that I will schedule races. It is just plum wearing me out.

Hi all, I'm new here but have started my own trek some months ago.  Sad to see that I haven't even reached Rivendell yet, but I must have passed Bree!

Welcome!! Glad that you can join us! Keep at it and you will be in Rivendell in no time. One of these days I will add additional destinations along the way, that way the distances do not seem quite so overwhelming.
