theOtherRedQueen
Welcome to the adventures of the Queen of Diamonds, otherwise known as the Other Red Queen! Don't worry, I'm the good one ;-) I'm full of love and enthusiasm, with just a hint of snark. None of that "off with her head" garbage from me! Unless you deserve it.... Anyway! My journey brought me to live in Bavaria, Germany this year. While I've been here I've refocused on creating a shiny new and exciting life for myself, which involves losing 60lbs or so and developing some cool hobbies. Status: I'm 30 lbs down, and have been adventuring around central Europe! Primary Goal: Lose Weight This challenge I want to focus on getting from 195 to 185 before I leave for my 2,000km cycle tour on August 10th. Dropping that will make the ride easier! To get there: 1. Continue "Keto-Primal" 90% of the time. I started a "primal" diet in January, but have been very inconsistent. I dropped from 225 to 210 in one bout of seriousness, and from 210 to 205 in another....but they were months apart and involved gaining much of the lost weight back inbetween. All I felt was tired and unsuccessful. Its been a couple weeks on the Keto version of that real-food primal diet, and I finally feel great! I also started crossfit at that time. I finally fit into some smaller clothes! Note: The 10% is the odd day with 30-50 total carbs not a carbtastic extravaganza! 2. Track all the food! 3. Crossfit 3x a week (okay okay this isn't really for weight loss....It just makes me happy and feel strong! I'd rather drag muscle around the North Sea than Fat!) 4. Walk every day Goal 2: Learn some more German: I live here for another year...I need to take advantage of it 1. Enroll in classes (check) 2. ATTEND classes (follow through!) 3. Use Duolingo and Memrise daily 4. Set Rosetta Stone up. Use it. 4x a week. 5. Suck it up and actually speak to people. In German. 6 Quote Level 1 Amazon Adventurer STR 2 | DEX 1 | STA 2 | CON 3 | WIS 2 | CHA 1 All that is gold does not glitter, Not all those who wander are lost; The old that is strong does not wither, Deep roots are not reached by the frost. Ann of Owlshire
Happy travels! Love, enthusiasm and snark are the best qualities We almost moved to Germany this year (husband had a job opportunity), and one of my pros for it was that I'd have practical reason to learn another language XD I enjoyed my visit while we were checking it out, and there were so many bicycles! 1 Quote Druid and Adventurer The Wye/Dean, UK Current Storyline: Tales of Owlshire | 0 | 1 Previous Storyline: The Entwife’s Heart | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 Link to post

There are almost always designated bike paths, and drivers are so much more courteous than New England (only American region I've ridden a bike on the road in). Where were you, and do you ever come back to visit?? I had an account associated with this one too though it seems....so here I am! This is the name for my nerd fitness academy character too...so it makes sense to me! In the last 12 months I've been to: Ireland Czech Croatia (twice, I loved it) Italy (4 times, all short trips) Austria (3 times) Switzerland Lichtenstein Netherlands USA Only one of those trips was a cycle tour (Germany/Austria/Switzerland on a 200km trip around a lake). Can't wait for more of that! I've been doing shorter day tours around Bavaria (from Munich to Garmisch Partenkirchen has been the best) I know I'm spoiled now for travel...Most of those were road trips! So many countries in such a small area (said the girl who grew up in the American West...haha) 2 Quote Level 1 Amazon Adventurer STR 2 | DEX 1 | STA 2 | CON 3 | WIS 2 | CHA 1 All that is gold does not glitter, Not all those who wander are lost; The old that is strong does not wither, Deep roots are not reached by the frost. I know I'll miss some things about this place I lived in a place called Pfaffenhofen - it was north of Munich (I think...) and a great place - biking is definitely not the same back in the states - over there I felt great about riding on the street, but here not so much, even in bike lanes. I haven't been back, but I'll be headed over next summer, which I'm pretty excited about! Lots I still miss so I'm excited to head back! Quote Link to post
theOtherRedQueen
I know Oberpfaffenhoffen...I bet they're right next to each other! That word is my coworkers favorite to say, so it sticks with me haha It's pretty close to me. I've driven through a number of times =D Sent from my SM-G903F using Tapatalk Quote Level 1 Amazon Adventurer STR 2 | DEX 1 | STA 2 | CON 3 | WIS 2 | CHA 1 All that is gold does not glitter, Not all those who wander are lost; The old that is strong does not wither, Deep roots are not reached by the frost.
