WritingWeaver, We Will Always Save The Day! (Go Forth, Episode 5)

SU_zpsxxwdg6t1.jpg

Hey friends, Jen here with episode 5 with a Steven Universe themed challenge! I really need to catch up with the series, only beginning season 2! Looking forward to kicking some butt this challenge with some awesome workouts, great food and amazing friends!

Working Out (with Coach Steven)

10c844c5-4451-4507-8bbd-c35bc0378166_zps

I am going to continue the same workout and clean eating goals as my last challenge. Strength training and Zombies, Run! Got to be prepared when the homeworld gems arrive!

I will be aiming to up my current 25lb dumbbells to 30 by the end of this challenge (will aim for 35), and will be tracked with workout tracking charts (come with the guide). The lame excuse for not adding weight or trying the moves that I couldn't do before ("because it's hard") will not be uttered this challenge!! I will try pistol squats and hang power clean and press with no weight and low weight until I can do them :) Clean eating will be tracked by making all my meals, everyday (meal plans will be made on Sunday).

-          Training will include:

o   MWF – Rebel Strength Guide lvl 2

o   T, TH –Zombie Run

Story for Steven!

For the love of writing, I cannot focus on one project. I had most of the plot and characters fleshed out of one, but I’m finding myself already coming up with another new plot and characters! I really want to finish one before I start another, so I will spend at least 30 minutes every day and focus on one story this challenge. This one is mostly just for focus, though I will aim for the end result of at least 30 pages.

-          30 minutes, no distractions

-          I will allow music (no lyrics) for creative inspiration

Practice Driving!

I’m a nervous person and haven’t driven for a few months (and even then was just around the block stuff). I realize that if I want the freedom to do things I can’t normally do, such as go to the lake for a day, job hunt slightly farther than usual and not be limited by other people’s schedule, I have to learn to drive..

This one is going to be tough, as I still only have a learners and need someone to be in the vehicle with me, but I will do this! My friend has offered to teach me when she has some time off, so I am grateful for this.

*Just realized I need to go back and re-read the drivers manual for a refresher. This will be done in week 1. Had to adjust goals to be realistic.

-          Get behind the wheel 3-4 times a week (Starting week 2):

o   2 days light practice / getting comfortable

o  1 or 2  days longer drives

Oh I've dealt with this so often...

you do Zombies, Run! too?  man, when it first came out, I was nigh addicted.  then I stopped running for a while.  I'm finally getting back into it.  I moved to a place where I can run outside seasonally, and I hate the dreadmill.  but if it means playing Zombies, Run!, I manage to deal with it, lol.

when I do my writing (which does not occur often enough), I have several Pandora stations that I use, which restricts lyrics.  do you have a playlist or station in mind?

RE driving:  do you think you'll need to make a schedule with your friend?  or should she be typically free for this?  (I used to bribe people with food to be my fully licensed passenger while I was learning, lol.)

I very much enjoy Zombies, Run, and I don't mind the treadmill so much, mainly because I haven't ran outside yet, but I find that I have proper form on one (and when I tested outdoors, I don't). Still, story is amazing and I am loving it!

Usually for music, I just use whatever is on my phone, but I am curious to know what stations you have for Pandora. I don't have it yet, but I know I'll need to find some new music eventually :)

Also, the driving is very difficult. My friend works a different schedule than I do, but she did say she will help me when she can. We get our work schedules half a week in advance, so planning is slightly limited, but we are trying. Even though that sounds too random to track, I still have my family to come with me.

Workouts going well, though today I did not give 100% with the weights. Exhaustion caught up with me and I napped for an hour after, feeling better and will extend my run slightly tomorrow.

Writing is finally taking off, currently at 4 pages, which was all written last night/ early morning. Wrote a summary of the villains and individual events. Currently working on summaries of the characters. Outline should be done by Thursday so I can start writing the rough copy.

Found my driving manual and have gotten through half of it so far, it's nerve wracking x_x

haha, and I'm the opposite.  when I run on the dreadmill, I have to do an incline of 4.0 or so, because my body is broken and I land too hard on it.  outside is more natural to me, so I think I run more naturally.  weird how our bodies will change its form depending on where it's working.

oh man, I have every station under the sun on my Pandora.  you can see my list here.  my station names make little sense, so you may need to read their bio or just look at the artists featured to get a feel of it, lol.

awesome on the writing!  do you do NaNoWriMo at all?

I have to start studying tonight, too.  I'm in a new state from where I got my first license, and the test up here is apparently really hard as compared to what I'm used to.  eek!

I hope that outdoor running will also become more natural to me. I started on the treadmill mostly due to being waaaay too self conscious to run outside. In public. Where someone might see me. I may start going outside to run in late fall, little by little, and I do want to try running in winter this year, though I can already see that will lead to my face having multiple meetings with the ground xD

Also, I didn't realize Pandora was country restrictive, unfortunately it is not available in Canada.

Yes, I have been for... four years now?  About that. It's slightly difficult, especially with my current school schedule as exams tend to fall the last week in November, or first few days of December. Last year wasn't too bad as I took courses I knew I would do well in, but this fall I am taking a financial management course and I suck at math. Never understood it, so I want to focus all my attention on this course to keep my gpa up. Even though I wanted to only take one class, I may actually end up taking two, though I am very undecided.

I do love Nanowrimo, and even though I don't do much of the community events, there is still a huge sense of community both here among those that participate and those that I see on the Nano site. Plus, with the weather turning colder, it's always nice to curl up with a hot drink and the laptop to work on a project ^_^

Last weeks results (a bit late)

Workouts - All around average this week, other than Thursdays little dip in drive. No workouts missed, though assisted pistol squats were very difficult. Going slowly though and I know I will be able to get stronger.

Clean Eating - This one... wasn't the greatest this week. I only ate my planned meals five out of seven days plus I ate a lot of junk food (cheesecake, one of my bigger weaknesses). However, I did manage to get in quite a few veggies and avoided all bread! Not the greatest, but could have been worse. Can do better this week!

Writing - Finally out of summary mode and onto the story! Eight pages finished last week (5 world/character building, 3 story), so this goal is on track!

Driving -  Finished reading the drivers ed manual, terrified of getting behind the wheel. Also, my brother recommended a driving instructor that, coincidentally, one of my friends went to and he was just as nervous as me. You never would have known though as he loves driving now! I think that after this 4 challenge is over, I am going to sign up for this instructors course.

So... two weeks of updated coming up!

Week of August  29

Workouts - Workouts went well once again, did everything and pushed myself, especially in both running days! Pistol squats still super difficult, but still working on doing them with an assist. I can feel some areas are ready for the heavier weight, and one clearly still not ready even for the current weight Push press... I do it anyway, just takes longer. I did have to move Monday's workout to Saturday as I had zero energy. I mean it, I could barely do one set of anything. *More below.

Clean Eating - Ate clean this week, made my own food and managed to avoid all the junk food. Take that, cheesecake! Mostly ate chicken stir-fry for dinner and eggs for first meal

Writing - Still on track, wrote six pages this week, and still focused on the one project! Woot!

Driving - This is a fail. I didn't get behind the wheel at all this week! Between nervousness and not wanting to go out with the parents (they all have their own flaws I don't want to pick up), I couldn't push myself to do it.

Week of September 4

Workouts - I only got in both run days this (last) week. *I had so much trouble sleeping this last week, it was horrible. I would toss and turn until about 5 or 6am then finally get to sleep, and one day (of three) I didn't even get to sleep before work.  No idea what was wrong, but Saturday seems to be going better. Went to bed early, woke up rested and energized. Anyway, with the lack of sleep, I had no energy to complete any of my weight training, though I did give each one a fair shot.

Clean Eating - This one... nope. Didn't eat clean most of the week and I didn't even make my own food most of the time. My brother, bless him, was nice enough to make some food for me, sometimes, when he was having meals. Muffins didn't help either.  Slipped a lot this week, but I made chili and soup in batches with a plan. As soon as I get home from work (10:30am), I throw one of them into a pot, set on low and workout while it thaws and warms up. Yay, time management skills are leveling up!

Writing - Still on track! Woot!! Nine pages this week and still focused on one project! Up to 23 pages in total!

Driving - I did it you guys. It may only have been once, and it may have only been for ten minutes, but I forced myself to drive! My bro drove me to renew my license and when we got back into our development, I asked him if I could drive. He helped direct me and gave me some pointers as we drove around (still just in the quiet development). There was only one point that was very stressful for me when I was going to turn onto our street, there was another driver turning too. I did freeze and let them by, I didn't want to hit them or anything. Just turning though. I managed to pass another car on the same street without any panic. ^_^

Don't tell anyone, but I did enjoy driving

Quick update: Workouts are on track, tried 30lb weights yesterday and could do a small part of the workout! Woot!! Eating is nearly clean now, got rid of all the junk in my room and bought healthy snacks (nuts, coconut and fruit).

Also, so excited as I just applied for a job at a credit union right near my house (a position opened up), so crossing my fingers that I get an interview! I applied as a general position last time (half a year ago), and though they called and said there were no positions open where I was looking, I was floored that HR called me at all, and within two days! That is a company I want to work for!
