Yasha92 Posted August 15, 2016 Report Share Posted August 15, 2016 We’re back to the challenge and I am HYPED to start upping the difficulty (just a little) after last challenge’s successes. I also am adding a list of ‘one offs’ so that I can keep track of them as well – although they are not compulsory to complete the challenge. Again I will choose a task each from food, exercise and self/world improvement. I’ll be introducing prizes as well, in a fashion similar to what @Ensi did in her challenge. Food challenge: 5-and-2. Continue 5-a-day-freggies, introduce 2-a-day water. Freggies are coming along well, I need to start upping my water intake as the weather begins to warm up. Measured daily /5 and /2. Exercise Challenge: ROAR and more. I’ve signed up for a 12week roar30 class at a local gym as well as signing on for a membership. There will be three roar days a week in the morning, a challenge every second Saturday and two additional classes a week to access. My goal will be to attend every roar session (6.30am Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays), two classes per week (any day) and the Saturday sessions. I have a friend who has gone through this program and done really well, she’s doing it again this time so I won’t be alone. So far this is already going well and I’ve been to the gym two days in a row. As the roar starts on the 27th between now and then I will sub out zombie running on the treadmill for the morning classes. Self-Improvement Challenge: Before bed routine. If I’m getting up this early in the mornings I need to get my bedtime routine down- teeth and skincare, dishwasher loaded and clothes set out for the next day, I’d also like to start journaling for a few minutes before sleep – either on here or on paper. One-offs: These are things I’d like to get done but are a one time thing and don’t need to be a challenge goal. By completing one-offs I get to gain an additional prize (see ‘prizes’ below). -Get passports for me and Mr organised -Get standing desk at work -Go to the dentist -Organise trip to America details and book flights -Serious think about eloping -Donate blood -Beach-bash (can be claimed multiple times) Prizes: I like the idea I saw in Ensi’s challenge of someone else deciding on the prizes for achieving the goals, people who want to dish out prizes volunteered themselves to choose the prize for that week. If no-one ends up choosing a prize I’ll roll for it randomly. -Massage -Haircut (&colour if RANGERED!) -Pamper session 1 (eyebrows) -Pamper session 2 (nails) -Matching towels -Steampunk goggles -Deck of many things -Rubbish grabber/T-rex arm. 6 Quote Mini | | Jan 16 || Feb 16 || Mar 16 || April 16 || July-Aug 16 || Aug-Sep 16 . || Sep-Oct 16 || Oct-Nov 16 || Dec 16 || Jan 17 || March 17 || April 17 || May 17 || August 17 || Sep 17 || Oct 17 || Grind it out || Jan 18 || Feb 18 || April 18 || May June 18 || Nov 18 || Oct 19 || Early 2020 || Halfway thru 2020 || Yasha High-5s herself || Jan 2023 || Feb-Mar 2023 Current Challenge: Yasha Revives (Oct-Nov 2023) Link to comment

I turned up at the gym today at the same time as the group that is currently doing it to suss things out and it turns out they run before they start. I'm not much of a runner, so I'm hoping in this bit of prep-time I'll be able to increase my cardio a bit to take the edge of that initial class. 1 Quote Mini | | Jan 16 || Feb 16 || Mar 16 || April 16 || July-Aug 16 || Aug-Sep 16 . || Sep-Oct 16 || Oct-Nov 16 || Dec 16 || Jan 17 || March 17 || April 17 || May 17 || August 17 || Sep 17 || Oct 17 || Grind it out || Jan 18 || Feb 18 || April 18 || May June 18 || Nov 18 || Oct 19 || Early 2020 || Halfway thru 2020 || Yasha High-5s herself || Jan 2023 || Feb-Mar 2023 Current Challenge: Yasha Revives (Oct-Nov 2023) Link to comment
Yasha92 Posted August 15, 2016 Author Report Share Posted August 15, 2016 5-and-2: Banana berry smoothie, apple and berries, salad 5/5, water 2/2. ROAR and more: Got to the gym at 6am, ran (walked briskly) on the treadmill for an hour doing zombies run. Before bed routine: Teeth brushed, face washed, took multi vitamin, chose clothes for tomorrow, dishwasher mostly sacked, clothes dryer running. Journal: Today was my first Monday off to start chipping away at my accrued leave. I suspect even if I have Mondays off for the rest of the year I won't use it all up. I have to take at least 15 days leave, which would take me through to 21st November. I guess I'll see then whether I want to keep taking Mondays off, or whether I want to start saving the days for America trip. I got up at 5am to get ready and go to thegym- it seem that the 6.30am class starts from 6 and they go for arun. I walked for an hour on the treadmill but I didn't hit a run, honestly because I'm afraid to run and hurt myself. I'm hoping that I can work my way up to it, because even from the fast walking my legs are tired and a little sore (plus the sole of one foot keeps cramping). I rode my bike to the gym and my tushy is killing me- another thing that I will hopefully break in over this challenge. Helped Mr with a bunch of filming and generally enjoyed my day off. tweaked my back towards the end of the night, but I've put some cream on it to hopefully settle that right down. We didn't end up hosting DnD as teh DM cancelled. In bed ready to sleep by 9pm. 1 Quote Mini | | Jan 16 || Feb 16 || Mar 16 || April 16 || July-Aug 16 || Aug-Sep 16 . || Sep-Oct 16 || Oct-Nov 16 || Dec 16 || Jan 17 || March 17 || April 17 || May 17 || August 17 || Sep 17 || Oct 17 || Grind it out || Jan 18 || Feb 18 || April 18 || May June 18 || Nov 18 || Oct 19 || Early 2020 || Halfway thru 2020 || Yasha High-5s herself || Jan 2023 || Feb-Mar 2023 Current Challenge: Yasha Revives (Oct-Nov 2023) Link to comment

Yasha92 Posted August 16, 2016 Author Report Share Posted August 16, 2016 5-and-2. Hit my freggie goal despite not getting to eat my sweet potato (see sad, burnt photo below). Smoothie, carrots (2.5), apple, blueberries. Water was a smash hit - I donated blood today (hark, is that the chime of a prize earned?) so I was super attentive to getting enough water in the lead up - then they gave me juice and advised me to keep drinking. I drank a bunch more water, also a powerade. 6.5/5, 4/2.ROAR and more. Rest day today and I've been nursing the sole of my left foot which has a tweaky feeling. I've been putting cream on it and trying to find the spikey ball to foam roller it, still a bit tender. Tomorrow will be my first gym-before-work day, so before bed routine is very important today. Before bed routine. Face, teeth, vitamins, set out clothes, put out garbage, stacked the dishwasher. One-offs: Today I donated blood, it went well and they booked me in for the next one as well so I don't leave it so long between donations (my last one was 3 years ago). They had good juice and a wide selection of snacks as a thanks. By completing a one-off I have earned a prize. Whoever get in first gets to choose first. (I think in the other challenge there was some kind of system, but I like to live a little dangerously). A reminder of the prizes up for grabs (or feel free to suggest others within a $20-$50 price range):-Massage -Haircut (&colour if RANGERED!)-Pamper session 1 (eyebrows)-Pamper session 2 (nails)-Matching towels-Steampunk goggles-Deck of many things-Rubbish grabber/T-rex arm. Journaling: Woke up without an alarm this morning, which was great, but at 4am, which was less great, I've pushed tonight's bedtime back a bit to hopefully push the wakeup forward a bit too. I wonder if waking without an alarm will become a regular thing. Helped Mr with more filming and editing this morning before work. Was feeling pretty good all round until I got to work and realised there was an 8am meeting that I didn't know about. I caught the very end of the meeting and it was announced that someone from another team will be coming to fill the managers role while he is on maternity leave. This means the team leader holds his current place and I remain a minion. I had been hoping the TL would move up to manager, and I would move up to TL for the seven weeks of leave organised. I felt very shaken by this news and it took me a fair chunk of the morning to get over it, thankfully I had the blood bank to take my mind off it. I'm still considering taking leave at the same time as the manager so that the Team Leader and the acting Manager from another team will flounder without me and realise that I'm an asset- however that really seems a little nasty and I want to take my leave as a time of relaxation, not retaliation. In the afternoon an old friend came back to the roleplaying site I sometimes play on. It was excellent to see her again and to do a little writing with her, I hope she is back for a good chunk of time so we can write together more. All in all it was an OK day and I'm in bed by 9.30 ready to sleep (once I get my photos off my phone). Surprisingly keen for the gym tomorrow (perhaps because Zombiesrun?). 2 Quote Mini | | Jan 16 || Feb 16 || Mar 16 || April 16 || July-Aug 16 || Aug-Sep 16 . || Sep-Oct 16 || Oct-Nov 16 || Dec 16 || Jan 17 || March 17 || April 17 || May 17 || August 17 || Sep 17 || Oct 17 || Grind it out || Jan 18 || Feb 18 || April 18 || May June 18 || Nov 18 || Oct 19 || Early 2020 || Halfway thru 2020 || Yasha High-5s herself || Jan 2023 || Feb-Mar 2023 Current Challenge: Yasha Revives (Oct-Nov 2023) Link to comment

Yasha92 Posted August 17, 2016 Author Report Share Posted August 17, 2016 5-and-2. Freggies Rangered today, with bonus of Mr cooking before he went to work tonight. Smoothie, apple, blueberries, carrots, salad, capsicum, figs. Mr's cooking is amazing and outshines anything I could put in text, so the picture and description will be at the bottom so you guys can read what I did before dying of envy. Water- yes, although it is hard to remember where I am up to with drinking the water, I tried making a little note as I finished each bottle, but it didn't seem to work so great,... I'll think of something. 9/5, 2.5/2.ROAR and more. Went to the gym in the morning for a go on the treadmill and I feel like I did well,I was keeping the highest walking pace I could without actually crossing over to running for most of the hour. I did up it to running at one stage but everything from my knees down felt like it was on fire even from a few steps into it, so I may need to work on my form. Five minutes before the end of the treadmill run I knocked my phone off the holder onto the floor and hit the 'instant stop' to save it from getting crushed, which meant that I lost all my data :'( Went again to the gym in the afternoon to do yoga. I poured with sweat the first half (maybe because I rode my bike down, maybe because Yoga is harder than I remember) and at one stage the instructor suggested we put our knees beside our ears while I hadn't even been able to get them above my hips. Lots of room for improvement there. I also used their spikey ball to roll the sole of my foot and so far it seems a little better, they have a foam roller as well that looks very tempting and I might ask someone there to show me how to use it as I haven't been immensely successful in the past (I always end up running over my own hair, no matter how I do it up). Before bed routine. Face, teeth, vitamins, set out half my clothes, stacked the dishwasher (didn't do hand dishes,even though there was heaps of them, will need to rectify this tomorrow. In bed, journaling by 9.30, I expect to fall asleep shortly after. Journaling: I was really proud of myself for going to the gym in the morning as well as in the afternoon. I woke up again before my alarm this morning and puttered about in the morning. It makes the day feel longer having something on in the morning, but also more rewarding somehow - I wonder if before I'd stay up late and scroll aimlessly through Facebook then be too tired to get up on time, but by doing something productive in the morning I've set the day off to the right start. I'm working on having a helpful attitude at work - there is nothing wrong with being a level 3/4 and being really good at it, plus it gives me time and energy to focus on getting fit. I'll keep my ear to the ground for any lvl 5 positions that open up, but otherwise I will dedicate my energy into my own self-improvement instead of channeling it all into work. To start this good attitude off I left exactly on leaving time (generally I would stay 10mins to an hour to make sure everything was finalised), because this mood is coming from a place of peace I hope that I can stick with it, and not be so bothered by the current Team Leader. Now *drumroll* the foodporn you've all been waiting for, the reason I always think that I can't cook, lovingly prepared by Mr before his nightshift, get your drool bibs ready (and @Rurik Harrgath you better sit down so you don't pass out): Tah-Dah~! Fillet steak on baby rocket, capscicum (bell pepper), fig and pistachio salad with goats cheese - stuffed baby capscicum, followed by honey roasted figs with hazelnut. 5 Quote Mini | | Jan 16 || Feb 16 || Mar 16 || April 16 || July-Aug 16 || Aug-Sep 16 . || Sep-Oct 16 || Oct-Nov 16 || Dec 16 || Jan 17 || March 17 || April 17 || May 17 || August 17 || Sep 17 || Oct 17 || Grind it out || Jan 18 || Feb 18 || April 18 || May June 18 || Nov 18 || Oct 19 || Early 2020 || Halfway thru 2020 || Yasha High-5s herself || Jan 2023 || Feb-Mar 2023 Current Challenge: Yasha Revives (Oct-Nov 2023) Link to comment

Yasha92 Posted August 18, 2016 Author Report Share Posted August 18, 2016 5-and-2. Freggies yes. Smoothie, blueberries, carrots, leftover salad, started a 'water challenge' with my sister where we text each other how much water we've had that day. 6/5, 2.5/2 ROAR and more. Rest day today, glad I saved my energy because work was a doosey and I needed my strength for that. Before bed routine. Teeth and vitamins yes, everything else no, still awake at 10.30pm. Journaling: another day frustrated by the team leader- he ignored me when I explained it's against the rules to enrol students in subjects after the cut off date in week 4 as we have a duty of care and the students are bound to fail after missing that much class, he decided it was fine since the faculty said it was fine (they really don't have the power to make that call) and he made our casuals do it for 4 or so students- I got them to write very detailed history notes on the records so that when this comes around to bite us in the bum my casuals are covered. I spent most of the day just focusing on my work and not causing any issues, but by the end of the day I'd had it. I came home with the full intentions of getting straight into bed but my Mum called and I ended up talking to her about it then taking a hot bath. On her advice I've texted my old manager (she resigned to take a different job 3months ago, so I've been training the manager and the team leader for 3months) and organised to meet her Friday of next week. I hope she can give me some solid advice... (Or maybe a job wherever she's working now?- only partly joking)... Not looking forward to tomorrow but I plan to gym in the morning so I'm too tired to get frustrated by his shenanigans.
