Jonesy Posted August 16, 2016 Report Share Posted August 16, 2016 Breaking from my DragonAge Challenges to refocus and find a little of what I’ve lost. I used to have a nice foundation and starting point but those have scurried away from me. I also want to find some way to incorporate some of the NF Academy quests into a challenge. I’m sure I can add in some of the mindful stuff in. I contemplated joining the druids this go around but I love the assassins. Going back to basics with quests revolving around the 5 senses. Using some of the information from www.chopra.com/. Plan is to focus on the 5 senses and use them to help me refocus. I have no real idea what I’m doing, so this will be a whole new experience for me. I will make a list of the things I want to accomplish and throughout the challenge I want to complete at least 3 from each sense category. I’ll most likely add more items to the list as the challenge goes on. Wish me Luck! Jonesy Posted August 16, 2016 Author Report Share Posted August 16, 2016 Week 1 Review Not sure how I’m liking this challenge structure but it’s much more interesting and laid back. Sight - Remodel HQ Worked on my bathmat and I hope to have it finished by the end of the challenge. Added a few more cars to my potential car list. Touch - Body Had 2 meditation sessions this week. They went well but wondered if it’s normal to feel heavy after a session. 2.75/10 miles Hearing - Music Made 3 playlists, 2 for workouts, 1 for cleaning and then listened to 3 podcasts. Taste - Balanced Nutrition I don’t have any money right now to try new teas and I struck out with the local tea shop. I did get in my order of Pero and that was sort of tasty. Did some prepping and planning for my Whole30 next challenge. Smell - Aromatherapy Cleaned some spots on my carpet but should probably do an all over clean eventually. Scrubbed the entry way and started working on cleaning the grout. Looked into diffusers and essential oils. Gave Eepha a bath and she smells so much better! Also took out 2 garbage bags. My DA challenges will come back eventually, still need to save the Arl Eamon and Ferelden. I really want to do another Whole30 but cold turkey isn't something I want to do again. The next challenge dates seem to be a good enough time to get it done. Literally just sitting there for 5 mins breathing in and out thinking about nothing and almost falling asleep. I have no idea if that is how I should do it but it was something. I can recommend both the Headspace and Stop Breathe & Think apps if you are interested in guided meditation. I think a lot of people, myself included, tend to not think about our senses unless something goes wrong. I want to use what I have to help build better good habits! You set how long you want the session to be and how many seconds you want to inhale, exhale, hold the inhale and hold the exhale. Then it has a visualization to indicate where in the breath you should be. So you just sit there, watching your phone and breathing along with the visualization until it says you're done. It makes it very easy to concentrate on your breathing and nothing else. Although she feels like we should have done it faster but it was hard.
