It has been a fun return so far!  Returning to working out and Muay Thai has been great.  Tracking is...well it's tracking and I do need to figure out tweaks to my diet, but having that habit again is great! Also doing art again!  My muse has returned!!  The last challenge just kicked so much ass so I wanted to make sure I kept the awesome train going!

As most of you may remembered, I first sought out my NerdFitness training about...one over a year and half ago and brought myself to this gym in my introductory From Lurker to (Newb) Rebel! thread before moving onwards in detailing more of my training for various boughts and challenges I would do in BlackTezca's Daily Battle Towards Feline Greatness. In there I have logged my many victories over my honorable challenges (as well as one crushing defeating) include my comeback fight with my latest challenge BlackTezca's 12(.5)th Trial: An Artsy Geeky Amazon Must Choose Between Mercy...or GENOCIDE!.  And now it's time to face my NEXT CHALLENGER!!!

For this challenge I have chosen a long running anime for my theme.  A boxing anime called Hajime no Ippo that seems well suited to my chosen martial art (we went over Boxing Techniques and movement Wednesday) and a very awesome character study.  Though gifs maybe hard to come by, I'll do my best to show this show off with this challenge!  Not only does this show match up with my main goal, but so do my quests!  My quest to get my strength back, my Muay Thai and kickboxing going, my artistic muse kicking, and also to honor those who may have returned from the battlefront but did not fully come back home...this quest is...

 

My Main Quest to be as POWERFUL and BATTLE READY as Wonder Woman

Lets' move onward to the quests!  This is gonna be a bit of a hard challenge than last time, mostly cause I'm trying to set stricter ground rules on what I had built up before.  Gonna be a bit of a pain, but hey...a challenge isn't suppose to be easy!  It's suppose to LEVEL ME UP!

Ichiro Miyata has the technique and the diligence but needs to work on that glass jaw!

Details: Miyata is an awesome boxer with great technique on footwork and famous for his counters, however he is not the strongest puncher (thus why he utilizes his opponents strength against them through counters) and is infamous for his glaw jaw.  A trait inherited from his dad.  I myself need to get stronger like he does and thus will be doing strength training 3 times a week.  This could be a leg day and arm day then a combo, or combo all three times (squats, deadlifts, benchpress, overhead press for at least 2 sets of 8).  We'll see.

Contingencies: Sickness and travel pretty much.  However considering the flexibility here, I should be able to do something!  Walking, yoga, etc!
Tracking: I'll be tracking the workouts using MyFitnessPal ( username BlackTezca ) and this lovely thread will be updated as well.
Grading: 
A for strength training 3 times a week - 25 pts ( 2 Sta 2 Str )
B for strength training 2 times a week - 20 pts ( 1 Sta 2 Str )

C for strength training 1 times a week 15 pts ( 1 Str )
F for all else

Ippo Makunouchi keeps up his passion and training for boxing!

Details: Let's up the ante and train more like Ippo!  Twice a week for kickboxing and/or Muay Thai!  I have an Shirt Promotion ceremony Sunday which will help dictate which classes I can go to (all of them should be the answer.  Except for sparring and NOT because of the shirt but for...other reasons).

Contingencies: Sickness, vacation and any nausea from clone habitat building.  Should be all right though now that the first trimester is over!  We'll see!
Tracking: I'll be tracking the workouts using MyFitnessPal ( username BlackTezca ) and this lovely thread will be updated as well.
Grading: 
A for Kickboxing/Muay Thai twice a week! - 15 pt ( 1 Sta 1 Dex)

B for Kickboxing/Muay Thai once a week! - 10 pt ( 1 Dex)
F for all else

Masaru Aoki is a great chef who makes great food which I need to eat!

Details: So Aoki is an...interesting boxer, but a very good cook who also makes delicious food.  While I don't make delicious foods, I eat a lot of delicious foods and now I need to go back to getting my protein game on!  So hoping to eat over 100 grams of protein again for the added strength training!

Contingencies: Phone does like my myfitnesspal anymore.  However, I can still track with a tablet and my computer.  As well trust my trust memory!
Tracking:  I'll be tracking the workouts using MyFitnessPal ( username BlackTezca ) and this lovely thread will be updated as well (with total calories and some food descriptions.  Good and bad).
Grading: 

A > 100 grams of protein goodness 6 to 7 days a week - 20 exp ( 1 Cha 2 Con )
B > 100 grams of protein goodness 4 to 5 days a week - 15 exp ( 1 Cha 1 Con )

C > 100 grams of protein goodness 2 to 3 days a week  10 exp ( 1 Cha )

Masahiko Umezawa is finding his own identity and making art his dream!

Details: Umezawa grew up A LOT since his high school days; going from bullying Ippo to being his biggest fan, to his best friend, and finally finding his own dream of being a manga artist.  I need to keep my own art up and it's almost NaNoWriMo, so I need to get back to working on my story!  Expect not just art but also more character descriptions coming up too!

Contingencies: Busy weeks and weekends and friends visiting during labor day.  However I have been making time for both model painting and my drawing so this should not be an issue :D.
Tracking: I have an art Tumblr and I also have DeviantArt (WATCH ME FOR ACCOUNTABILITY). I shall use those and this thread to keep track. 
Grading: 
A for at least 30 minutes 4 to 5 days a week - 20 exp ( 2 Wis 1 Cha )
B for at least 30 minutes 2 to 3 days a week - 15 exp ( 1 Wis 1 Cha)

F for all else

Ryo Mashiba has the longest arms in Japan and has grown up too hard and too fast...

Details: One of my friends nominated me for the 22 push ups for 22 days challenge.  This challenge is known as 22Kill and is to honor our veterans and raise awareness of veteran suicide.  I am a proud military brat and my father, brother, uncles, and grandfather are all veterans and each one has had their challenges from the wars they each served in.  Sadly our veterans don't get the support they need once they return home; some of them come home with demons that they sometimes don't escape from and battles they don't win against.  I'm doing this challenge not just for my family who I am grateful to still have in my life, but for those families who have lost their loved ones and honoring those who still serve in hopes they finally can get the support they need and that they deserve.  I'm not gonna 'tag' or challenge anyone for this, but if someone else wanted to join in, that would be awesome :D.

Contingencies: Need to remember to do this.  22 push ups is not a lot, but ugh pregnancy brain and tiredness.  Also illness.  Hope not to get sick.
Tracking: Tracking to be done here mostly as well as MyFitnessPal ( username BlackTezca ) under individual exercise reps!
Grading: 
A  for 22 push ups 20 to 22 days of challenge - 20 exp ( 1 Wis 2 Str )
B  for 22 push ups 18 to 19 days of challenge 15 exp ( 2 Str )

C  for 22 push ups 15 to 17 days of challenge 10 exp ( 1 Str )

F for all else

 

The challenge is set up and I'm ready to go SMASH MY FIST INTO IT!  Below is a 'fitness' photo; though some things are getting a bit bigger, I like to point out my arms are one of those things :D.

Got a photo up and I'm planning on making it slideshow...in fact I may post it as a slideshow gif once I have the preferred photo. It show my state as I get into the ring with this challenge.  I'm quite excited to still be here and get my ass into gear and beating this challenge will definitely show that I am here to stay...for now.  Until later in the third trimester maybe.

Dunno if anyone has heard the new single by Green Days' Bang Bang (came out last week and is an awesome song), but I was a wee bit inspired by it and started this nifty little image:

Good ole Tez and Connor again and I really like how both came out!  Definitely had to use a reference for Connors' revolver and hand position but overall it's turning out great!  Will be cleaning this up and hopefully once I have Connor cleaned up I can start some inking!  That's gonna be fun!  Hoping to test dynamic line work.

Day 01 Details: 00/03 total this week.  I need to do some strength training today.  Planning on doing a upper body workout that includes push ups for my 22kill challenge. Gonna be painful, but worth it!

 

Ippo Makunouchi keeps up his passion and training for boxing!

Day 01 Details: 01/02 total this week.  Yesterday was the shirt promotion (ugh...orange shirt.  Ah well, just need to work up to green...I don't even look that good in orange!) and they actually had a lesson for the first hour.  So surprise Muay Thai!  Yay!  Planning on going to Wednesday nights' class and maybe even Saturday as well.

 

Masaru Aoki is a great chef who makes great food which I need to eat!

Day 01 Details: 01/07 total this week.  Lots of protein yesterday!  About 139g protein!  Wow!  Really good start and planning on keeping that up!

 

Masahiko Umezawa is finding his own identity and making art his dream!

Day 01 Details: 00/04 total this week. Need to do some art tonight, especially since I want to start inking the above picture!  Hopefully I can finish the clean up sketch and then start with the kind of inking I want to do.  I would like to work on my inking with this one to have more dynamic style lines.  We'll see how it goes.

 

Ryo Mashiba has the longest arms in Japan and has grown too hard and too fast...

Day 01 Details: 01/22 total so far.  I had to do 10 push ups normal and then the rest on my knees (ugh, weak, so weak).  It wasn't easy doing 22 in one set.  I may spread it out on some days if I feel I can't do them in one sitting, but I can definitely do this challenge overall.

 

Todays' Plan: Upperbody workout once I get home a long with my 22 pushups in the same workout.  After that I shall work on art BEFORE playing No Mans Sky.  Definitely will need to do that or else I may stay up late or not draw at all :/.  Hoping to get off work early enough for that too.

Day 01 Details: 00/03 total this week.  Warhammer 40k game right after work so had no time.  Planning on doing my combo leg and arm workout tonight with some kickboxing cardio.

Day 02 Details: 01/02 total this week.  Gonna go tomorrow night for Muay Thai.

 

Masaru Aoki is a great chef who makes great food which I need to eat!

Day 02 Details: 02/07 total this week.  About 179g protein yesterday.  A lot!  But I have been eating a lot, so...understandable!

 

Masahiko Umezawa is finding his own identity and making art his dream!

Day 02 Details: 00/04 total this week. Not yet still.  Yesterday was a Warhammer game and it took until 11 pm to complete.  I needed to sleep first!  Hoping for some art tonight!

 

Ryo Mashiba has the longest arms in Japan and has grown too hard and too fast...

Day 02 Details: 02/22 total so far. Did 12 full push ups and 10 half push ups.  Hoping to up the full push ups today.

 

Todays' Plan: Pretty much make up what I missed for yesterday due to Warhammer 40k gaming!  Art, workout and pushups!

IPPO! I've actually taught a few drills I picked up from the first season in my Boxing classes, particularly the Dempsey Roll. (It might be a reflection on me as a teacher, but the concept seems quite difficult to grasp for someone who doesn't understand the concept of the midline weight transfer yet.)

 

* It always takes me a lot longer than expected to read your posts, since I am very prone to being distracted and mesmerized by GIFs.

That is true!  It was quite a bit of fun at least!

Ippo is an awesome anime; the boxing scenes are great and I love the amount of work the author had put into the character development of Ippo as well as making most of his opponents three dimensional (and even really nice opponents too!  There have been some points where I wanted someone other than Ippo to win cause I liked the opponent that much).  Dempsey Roll looks like a lot of fun to learn.

Squats @ 32 lb per hand @ 2 * 8

Straight-leg Deadlifts @ 40 lb per hand @ 2 * 8

Day 03 Details: 01/04 total this week. Did some work on the detailed sketch (almost done, just need to finish the clean up of the gun) and started inking!

Day 03 Details: 03/22 total so far.  Did push ups in between some of my weight sets.

 

Todays' Plan: Planning on going to Muay Thai tonight for some Holland Drills and practice goodness and then returning home for some arting!  Most likely will be painting models, but hopefully I'll have sometime to work on my art before needing to go to bed a bit early.  I have an 8 am meeting tomorrow and I may bring doughnuts...or bagels.  Unsure.  Maybe I won't bring anything.  I will need sleep though.

Yeah, I like the characters. Didn't like Sendo though, I thought he was a chode. Probably because he got the hometown decision against the Russian guy, which I liked because he was the most technically skilled boxer--I was always hoping he would eventually face Miyata. (There's actually real-life Ukranian boxer with a similar background, Vasyl Lomachenko, 396 wins and 1 loss as an amateur, fought for a belt on his pro debut and won world championships in two different weight classes in his first 7 bouts. Guy is a machine.)

I admit, I wasn't a big fan of the Naniwa Tiger either.  He was an okay guy, definitely not a jerk or anything, but not very memorable.  Also didn't like that hometown decision either since Alexander (the adorable redheaded russian guy) is, as you said,a  great technical boxer and much nicer guy with a bit more dimension.  It would be awesome if he did face Miyata considering the different personalities with a similar boxing style.

 

Never head of Vasyl but he sounds like a badass :D.

Day 05 Details: 02/03 total this week.  Did upper body workout yesterday a long with yoga.  Here are the numbers:

 

Bicep Curls @ 20 lb per hand @ 2 * 8

Tricep Extension @ 20 lb per hand @ 2 * 8

Overhead Press @ 22 lb per hand @ 2 * 8

Dumbell Pullover @ 30 lb total @ 2 * 8

Bench Press @ 32 lb per hand @ 2 * 8

Bentover Fly @ 10 lb per hand @ 2 * 8

 

Planning on doing a leg workout either tonight or tomorrow.  May need to see how I feel or whether I need more rest.

Day 05 Details: 02/02 total this week. May go to Muay Thai on Saturday just to do more Holland drills.  We'll see; there is a lot I need to clean up before my friends arrive and I may give myself a rest day today.  We'll see how I feel and how busy today is.

Day 05 Details: 02/04 total this week. Didn't work on the picture, but I worked on some new logos for the Warhammer 40k channel and also did some painting on models!  Plan on doing more painting models and hopefully work on the image since it's Friday.

Day 05 Details: 05/22 total so far. More push ups!  Getting a little stronger again each day.

 

Todays' Plan: May do some lower body strength training today or take a rest day.  Not sure.  What I need to do is my push ups, which becoming more of a habit, and then I need to get some arting done.  I'd like to focus on my artwork, but my MIL will be in for helping clean up the house before my friends arrive next week and we may do some maternity stuff shopping.  Oof.

Day 06 & 07 & 08 Details: 02/03 total last week and 01/03 total this week.  So for week 1 that will be a B.  Which I can live with as a long as I keep it up this week!  Which I did yesterday so that is very good!  Leg workout last night and here are some numbers:

Long Lunges @ 24 lb per hand @ 2 * 8

Curtsy Lunges @ 24 lb per hand @ 2 * 8

Straight-leg Deadlifts @ 40 lb per hand @ 2 * 8, 37 lb per hand @ 1 * 8

Sky Squats @ 34 lb per hand @ 1 * 8, 32 lb per hand @ 2 * 8

Weighted Bridges @ 50 lb total @ 2 * 8

 

A bit on the rough side but I lived!  This one usually has jump squats but considering my belly and jumping lately, I just did regular squats.  Probably for the best.

Day 06 & 07 & 08 Details: 00/0200/02 for this week.  I may go tonight instead of doing an upper body strength routine.  Since I have friends staying with us from Wednesday night till next week, I need to get in my kickboxing/Muay Thai on sooner than later.  So let's see what I do!

Day 06 & 07 & 08 Details: 06/07 total last week,  01/07 total for this week.  So far not bad!  Not gonna look up what I had eaten for Saturday, but for yesterday I had 121 grams of protein!  Nom nom!

Day 06 & 07 & 08 Details: 04/04 total last week, 00/04 for yesterday.  Will need to do some art when I can tonight!

Day 06 & 07 & 08 Details: 07.5/22 total so far. I actually missed Friday but I did 44 push ups on Saturday to make up.  So definitely counting that as a half point for that missed day and yet immediately making it up!  Also did 22 push ups yesterday as well.

 

Todays' Plan: Planning on either doing strength training or kickboxing later on.  Not sure which just yet, depends on timing and work as well.  Afterwards (and after I am finally done with work cause it may be a late night), I'll be doing some art as well as keeping up my pushups!  I should be able to make the 22 days completely, though as I have shown, I can make up 22 push ups.  

 

I have to admit...I'm getting a little frustrated with myself.  I want to get back to working out more and aiming to firm up, but...at the same time, I feel too tired or too hungry all the time to try.  Which makes sense cause I'm working on building the suitable habitat for the clone as well as making sure said clone grows correctly and within healthy human parameters and that takes a lot out of me.  It's just rough looking in the mirror and not seeing the shape I had or want.  So it's all vanity I guess.  

 

Good news is that the other more experience scientists and mad doctors have confirmed that clone is growing within healthy human parameters.  Hurray!

I for one think you are doing great with the amount of plates you are spinning.  Especially considering the weight and importance of one of the plates.     A lot of adjustment and listening to the body is in order, and for go-getter types, that can be even harder than pushing through a brutal work out.     And, voila! Excellent news on the status of said juggled plate!

 

In short, don't be frustrated.   You are rocking it.

Week 1 Summary!!!

We have completed the first week for this challenge!  Very awesome and while I had some slips along the way (due to a lot of cleaning and late nights), for the most part it has been fantastic!  Let's tally up!

 

Ichiro Miyata has the technique and the diligence but needs to work on that glass jaw!

Results: 02/03 last week!  Missed one day of strength training last week unfortunately.  Need to keep going strong and being strong!

Week 1 Grade:  B

 

Ippo Makunouchi keeps up his passion and training for boxing!

Results: 02/02 last week!  Made it to Muay Thai last week!  Hope to do the same this week!

Results: 06/07 last week! This is so far within acceptable challenge parameters!  Making up my yummy yummy protein!

Results: 06.5/22 last week!  Missed one day but made up the missed 22 push ups the day after.  So counting half points for that and hoping to keep it up!  These have been going well though some days are more painful than others!

Decently stroing Week 1!  Though I missed a quest this week (blah), I still managed to pull out some great successes and with that challenge I missed, I notice that I am still maintaining my strength, which is awesome!  This leaves me with a grade of...!!!

 

Week 1 Final Grade: A

 

So far it has been going all right.  Over the weekend I was really busy with a lot of things and it feels while I used to have a lot of spoons to give, the number has slowly, slowly been decreasing over time.  Which is unfortunate.  Even more unfortunate is that the spoons have been stolen by work stuff and crap and that's really annoying.

 

However, even with the stolen spoons from my drawer, I'm doing a pretty good job!  I just need to go bit more at the pace I like and I'm used to.  We'll see how that goes.  This weekend cleaning has inspired a future quest for next challenge, which is setting aside 15 minutes per day doing some kind of chore.  Dusting a room, putting dishes away, laundry, etc.  I rather not spend 4 hours a day cleaning again.  Oof.  However even with all that I still get a lot done!  Exciting!

Hehe thanks!  I think I'm doing a good job overall.  Just venting at times and trying not to get too down.  One of those plates is in fact THE plate to balance above all plates and all the other plates are far below it.  I wonder if anyone else has felt this way.  Another thing I have been fighting is the feeling of whether I'm excited enough or taking things for granted that has been a challenge for other women.  Blah!  Complicated thoughts!

 

Thank you for the excitement, I am very happy about that plate and in four weeks I get to find out more about the plate (particular biological sex so I can give it a damn name finally).  trying to keep my expectations realistic!  As well as relax too.

Day 09 Details: 0/02 for this week. Planning on going to Intro to Muay Thai since the Advanced Muay Thai topic is Clinch which usually comes with ripping and knees to gut and I wanna avoid that.  Into to Muay Thai tonight and some Kickboxing action tomorrow planned!

Day 10 Details: 01/02 for this week. I was late!  Grr!  But I made it for most of it (only missed 5 minutes) so not too upset.  Was a lot of fun too!  Planning on doing some kickboxing later on today to get my kick ass on!

Day 10 Details: 08.5/22 total so far.  I forgot about it last night.  Was a little frustrated last night so forgot.  Blah.  Need to make it up again tonight!  On a good note, I am noticing my chest press is getting a bit stronger each time I do it thanks to push ups every day.  So hurray there!

 

Todays' Plan: Push ups!  All the push ups!  ...Well...44 push ups!  So need to do that to get that done, ugh!  But after that (sneaking some at work and maybe having Coach Gigi force them on me during kickboxing), I'll need to go...back to work ugh, but then focusing on some art to finish the gun and inking and start some colors dammit!  My friend will be in town from California so I may get busy, but I'm sure I'll have time this week for strength training (probably do that tomorrow morning) to get that finished.  We'll see!

Todays' Plan: Well!  Friends are in town so most likely we'll be doing a few things with them.  Since I have vacation tomorrow, hoping to work on my damn art work and not losing a day to do it (though at this rate I'll be making a B).  Also will need to do push ups as well!  Debating on whether I should take today to rest or...if I should do my short combo weight lifting routine when I get home.  Maybe I'll just need to wake up tomorrow and do it...or do it late tonight!  We'll see.

 

I'll probably do my 22 push ups here at work in a little bit as well.
