Owlet
Stayed up late again doh. At least I was being productive though, finished off a baby mobile I've been working on for my soon-to-be niece. Really hoping this weekend will be a good distraction, seeing family, because this week has been so lack lustre. I don't feel as anxious today, just grey, which I guess is better but still not ideal. I need something to look forward to and get excited about. 2 Quote Current Challenge Link to comment

Bee
I've been absent for a few days! I know you don't feel as though you're perfect with using your voice and speaking up for yourself, but you don't have to be. You really did inspire me to start using my voice in the smallest ways and it feels great, even though there are still many situations where I stay quiet. 1 Quote Moon Bee // Druid // Level 4 Challenges // DBL 1 2 3 4 5: Bee is Everything Link to comment

Owlet
Well, on the train now with mum and feeling very sleepy but better than I was. Told the boyfriend yesterday that I was feeling blah and he kind of assumed it's cause of him and got upset. Probably doesn't help that he's already depressed. Didn't really talk much after that because from experience that just upsets is both more. So, meh. But cooking dinner for mum and doing some craft stuff stopped me dwelling on it like I normally would and I even managed to get to bed on time ( and sleep on time!) now I just have to relax for the weekend and try to enjoy family times. Not sure when I'll get a chance to meditate but I'll try to snatch a few minutes somewhere. 3 Quote Current Challenge Link to comment

Lara
So great to come back and see you've found a serious place to help you with your posture and aches. Well, THAT looks like a pro place. About the other guy, this says everything: I may've slightly exaggerated how much better it feels...=P he was a bit surprised that I said it was as good as I did, and he said it was still a bit stiff but there's not really a whole lot more he could do anyway A good practitioner would have seen through your "lie". Because they can feel what's in there when they touch. You may be not feeling much pain but still you can be injured, and it's their work to notice that. Anyway, it's great you've found this new place. Sorry about your "comparing" feelings and so. I had a big problem with comparison to more successful college mates, and I wrote a special affirmation for it a few years ago: To compare myself with people that has had other circumstances in life is unfair and unrealistic. To compare the outside of other people to my inside is unfair and unrealistic (translation sounds weird, but I guess it's understandable). To reflect on this helped me a lot. 3 Quote The battle must be fought anew every day Link to comment
Owlet
I think this has turned into more of a battle log than a challenge lol. Time for week one round up but to be honest I kind of forgot most of my goals during the week. Here goes nothing... Fitness: Walking: 1/3 I think it rained a bit last week? But mostly I was just busy trying to get my meditation in since I kept sleeping in. Or just going home for casual break downs before returning to work. Neck Rehab: Didn't do anything last week because I was kind of confused about whether I should trust first physio or just wait for new physio's program. Limited bodyweight exercises: lol no, oops. Diet: Paleo-ish: more -ish than paleo. Should probably crack down on this (she said, finishing off a a mini apple pie with custard) Balanced meals (nutrients etc) I guess? Weekend not so much but that was out of my control. This goal is kinda vague tbh. Life Stuff: Bedtime: in bed by 10:30, lights out by 11:30. so-so. I made it a couple of nights, but mostly it was around midnight by the time I turned the lights out, and didn't always get to sleep quickly. Meditation: (continue with 100 day challenge) pretty good until weekend, when I totally forgot two days running. Art: life drawing each monday, or at least 2 hours of art at home done Ha, so it doesn't look that good does it. But then it wasn't a great week in general, so I think some of my goals suffered because I was in too much of a state to focus on them, and I think I'm ok with that to be honest. The overall aim is to feel better, both mentally and physically, and I do feel better mentally now (and no worse, physically) Admittedly, I think mostly I feel better because I had lots of distraction and company over the weekend. I find it so hard not to dwell on things and get more and more upset, but being forced to interact with other people can help. And it was a really nice weekend - lots of time with mum and my brother and his wife, and her family and friends. I stopped feeling anxious almost straight away, yay, but then of course felt sooo tired. I slept in on sunday and pretty much napped all day. Even this morning, I still felt so tired and lightheaded. Better now but it made me realise I only truly relax when I leave town, so all my holidays end up being 'Sleep Camp' oops. Maybe I should book random solo holidays every now and then so I can just catch up on sleep. Anyway, I saw the new physio today and got a great program of stretches and exercises to do 3 times a week for 6 weeks, before progressing to a harder program. So I will see how long it takes to run through and maybe add a couple of bodyweight exercises to it so I can start getting back into shape. In other news, I AM SO BORED AT WORK. Ugh. The task I've been working on the last couple of weeks is very manual and very tedious. Not helping with my state of mind. Will probably take another couple of weeks to finish too :/ Need to plan fun times. 4 Quote Current Challenge Link to comment

If you're feeling better without working on your goals, maybe it is that your goals are not as accurate as you need or aren't what you need right now? Just saying. 1 hour ago, Owlet said: I saw the new physio today and got a great program of stretches and exercises to do 3 times a week for 6 weeks, before progressing to a harder program This looks good. 2 Quote The battle must be fought anew every day Link to comment

I do think they are all things that will improve my life state though, just maybe I wasn't quite ready for the challenge last week. I think I will make an effort to see friends more for the next few weeks as that seems to be helping. 2 hours ago, fleaball said: High five for the new physio program. Yeah I am excited about the program! I think the structure will help me too - he printed off charts for me so I can log weights, reps, date etc. Plus, having to answer to him will keep me motivated to do it 3X/week I think. Oh yeah and apparently if you work at a desk job, the recommended daily minimum for standing is 2 hours, preferably 4. So he wants me to try and get 2 hours standing a day gah. I've had a standing desk for a while now but slipped into bad habits - mostly because I am lazy and always feel too tired to stand. Using the stopwatch on my phone to time how much I can bear to stand today. 2 hours ago, fleaball said: I fully support taking the occasional weekend away just to get yourself back on track. fleaball
So much standing holy shit! Well. I guess you could break it up into chunks? Like when I worked at a bank I set alarms in Outlook so that every half hour it would yell at me to get up and walk around for 15 minutes. (It was a really slow branch.) If you find a remote cabin I'm crashing it. 2 Quote Level 69 Battle Kitten Battle Log | Current Challenge MyFitnessPal | Fitbit | Duolingo Ici je vis la vie que j'ai choisie Je suis partie pour reconstruire ma vie C'est dit, c'est ainsi Link to comment

I'm standing now and it's actually quite nice but I also seem incapable of standing with equal weight on both legs for more than a second lol, always leaning or slouching or whatever. Then again, apparently fidgeting and changing position is better than being totally static anyway, so maybe it's not so bad Have you looked at cabinporn.com? 2 Quote Current Challenge Link to comment

Not allowed? Booo. We have to provide a doctors note proving we need one, but after that it's easy enough. Getting up and moving regularly is really good though (I need to start doing more of that) 1 hour ago, NeverThatBored said: I read this and immediately stood at my computer instead of sitting. Thanks for the reminder! Haha, good! Glad to be of service I managed 1hour 20minutes this morning, surprisingly easy. So maybe it won't be quite so bad. Will see how much I can clock up this arvo. I also managed to go for a run at lunchtime! Was just planning a walk but I got really grumpy because (here comes the rant...) our washing machine broke last week and everyone's being a bit useless about it, so thought a run might help with the rage a bit. I started feeling a bit anxious thinking about finding a tradesman and then all the back-and-forth organising with him and landlady, and then annoyed that such a simple thing could even affect me, and annoyed that flatmates and landlord were being useless, etc... until it dawned on me that there is literally no reason for me to be organising it anyway, since the washing machine isn't even inside the house so it's not like we have to meet the guy or leave out a key. Texted landlady to ask if she can find someone, so fingers crossed lol. I mean sure, I could just do it myself, but I feel like it's her job to do this kind of thing - that's why I give her 30% of my income every week (grumble grumble) ok rant over. I also remembered, while I was running, the new physio gave me a free swiss ball! How cool is that! He said they had a giveaway going, so he just gave it to me (don't you normally have to do something to qualify for giveaways? lol) 5 Quote Current Challenge Link to comment
