Ouch to the pulled hamstring.  Glad to hear it is recovering quickly.

Words to live by.

If we could only live by our own words more often.

@MiddleAgeMutantNinjaPanda, looks a little like French wushu.  If you ever want to get into serious combat canne let me know.  I have a buch of resources I can share and depending on the area you're in I could probably point you towards a decent instructor.

It is a bit like a French Wushu.  For me this falls under a minor mixed movement, like dancing or diving or free running or double nunchuks. I'm not going to take it seriously enough to take lessons. If I really wanted to practice stick fighting I'd probably go with Dog Brothers or SCA. Or swing nerf swords with my son. Stick on Stick is about striking the hands. As soon as you glove up it's unrealistic.

In many ways yes, once you glove up it does detract as the primary targets are the hands and temples.  However, you run through practice partners pretty quickly when you break their fingers.

Even African stick fighters (Engolo) who go after each other almost completely nude still often have whicker gauntlets over their hands.

It's less about covering your hands in training and more about scoring hits on hands in practice.

For example, European Single Stick assumes a Basket Hilt of some sort (cudgel or sabre). So does SCA heavy fighting, all the blocs/redirects assume a basket hilt or gauntlet, so a hit to the hands does not score, allowing blocks that would not work bare handed.

In Kendo, hits to the wrist count (but I don't think they allow leg hits). So they work hard to get their hands out of the way when striking.

For my purposes, I think just getting some nerf swords and allowing hits anywhere is as good as any other training. I could be wrong. But I'm not super serious when it comes to sticks and swords.

Ah, here's where multiple scoring systems come in.  In ISF, hits to the hand count, hits to the wrist count, etc...  In most HEMA type tournaments, the entire body is a target (although groin strikes are discouraged for safety reasons).  That why I like it.  However, I will never object to use of NERF swords as a training tool, I have a stash for when kids visit my HEMA club.

Friday and Monday full Strength and Conditioning (+2). Friday Parkour 1 minute intervals x 5. Monday 30 seconds kicking, 30 seconds ground agility, 11 rounds each. (Mixed Movement +2) Still not getting off the center line for switch kicks until I realize the problem. It's funny how proper arm strikes start with the lower body and proper kicks start with the upper body.

Never done HEMA. The army looked to HEMA and FMA based Dog Brothers for their hand weapons program (which they have since canceled, unfortunately).

And Dog Brothers and HEMA got glossed over because HEMA is all reconstructed, and Dog Brothers is fairly new.  I've heard that tirade for quite some time ;-)  Still, If you're ever interested in getting some study material on the older stuff, just let me know.

Wed; recovery. Thur: striking was canceled and I couldn't cross train because work started early. Friday: Mental break this morning, not S&C.

I'm doing Gracie Combatives online with a friend, it's helping my rolling because I miss classes due to work. So I decided to also sign up for Krav Maga Worldwide online course. They have a daily curriculum, which I will probably start doing whenever I miss a Combatives day.
