Real life adventure stories:

We went to a small town in the mountains over the weekend. I had picked out a few hikes to go on, but then I was worried that Mr. Incredible wouldn't want to go on them as it was super hot. He suggested getting up and going early (8 am is our weekend early) before it was hot. We chose a hike called Lookout Mt, an old fire tower.  Directions said to follow the highway, then turn off unto the fire service road and go for 8 miles.  Off we went.  Started down the fire service road, it was gravel, one way, but pretty smooth. Then after a bit, there were trees that had fallen in the middle of the road that Mr. I had to drive around. Then the road got narrower, and windier. Then a bit steeper. Then there were some big ruts. We don't have 4-wheel drive, so that was fun;). Then it started getting steeper. Then it got even steeper, and the road rougher. I thought about asking him if we should turn back, but looking around, the road was so narrow there really was no way to turn around. I didn't want to suggest we pull a u-turn on the side of a cliff.  Pretty soon it was even steeper, and the ruts bigger. I looked out my window, and could see a huge cliff. By this time I was super nervous. I usually like to chatter when I'm nervous, but I didn't want to distract Mr. I. I told him I completely trusted his driving, and the views were great, but I was going to close my eyes and take a few deep breaths;) Our trusty car and Mr I.'s great driving skills, we didn't plunge down the cliff, and I am here to tell the story.

The hike was gorgeous, one of the prettiest I've ever done. A lot of times we go geocaching, but I told my husband that I really wanted to hike. He used to not like hikes, but he really enjoyed this, and he is now getting into it more. It was a short hike, under 3 miles round trip, with an elevation gain of about 1,500 feet. SInce  we drove up so much, by the time we hiked, we were pretty much on top of the world. We could look down into the valley, and had a 360 degree view, and were surrounded by mountains. We were even able to climb up into the fire tower to get an even better view. We were all by ourselves on the mountain. On the hike back down, we did see another couple and chatted with them a bit. They lived in the area, and made the hike frequently.

Driving back down was somewhat easier, though we did meet a couple of cars on the super narrow cliffside road. The car pulled over, and my husband threaded the needle between the cliff and the car, so we didn't hit the car or plunge down the cliff.

My other story is not quite as exciting, but just as important to me. Back in the ancient days, when hubby was a teenager he went swimming in lakes all the time. We live in an area that has tons of gorgeous lakes. I liked swimming in pools, but lakes scared me. So, after hubby and I started dating he pretty much quit swimming in lakes. When we had our son, we would maybe go wading in the lakes but never swimming. Mr Incredible would tell me of stories of how he went swimming in such and such lake, and I always thought it sounded kind of fun, but we never went. Mr. Incredible lost all interest in it, and really rarely even waded.  Then last year we were at our church family camp, and it is on a lake. Roped off area, nice lake, not even super cold. We both went swimming and had fun. This year our church didn't have the camp, so I said we need to go to a lake and swim. Mr. I sort of grunted, but didn't really seem excited about it.  I decided this trip was the perfect time to do more lake swimming.  We found a lake that didn't have any motor boats, and was not very busy. I waded in, and after a bit of getting my courage up, swam in the cold water. Not super far, as it was deep, and I didn't want to go further than I could swim back, but enough to swim. Mr Incredible hesitated and didn't follow. After a bit, he admitted that after not going swimming for so long,  it was hard for him now. But, he wasn't going to leave until he did.  After a while, he stepped  to where the lake got deeper and he could no longer stand, and then swam. It was a mountain lake , so it was super cold. We had a nice time, and decided to do more lake swimming in the future.

Yip! Haven't tried googling it yet, I shall tread carefully. I was thinking maybe a Lord of the Rings theme to go with, because that is what came to my mind. Maybe I'll just stick with that instead of doing a random google search.:)

Went on my walk/run today. While I can't say I like running, I do like the fact that on hot days I can go out in the morning before it gets too hot, spend 25 minutes, and get 2 miles worth of steps in. That and a later walk put my steps at over 14,000. Also, my fitbit tracker shows a good amount of orange for hitting the cardio zone, which makes me happy.

Did the leg routine for GMB today. Which included roll into pistol squats. I'm improving with those. Also did some fun ring play practicing the hang to tuck to hang. Kind of nice to do it as play while I'm fresh instead of during a workout when I'm tired. I don't do so much that I'm too tired for workout the next day (well I hope I didn't anyway) just a bit of playing around in the sunshine while taking a break from gardening. Maybe I should put a Kb out in the garden too, so I can do some GTG swings.

Also spent some time planning my challenge today. I have some ideas!!! I know several of you plan yours before the next one is done. My problem with doing that is that then I lose focus on the current one. If I start planning for the next one, then I just want to do that stuff. I'm glad we have week zero back so I can do some planning

Yup.  Totally that ^^^.  I can at least vaguely consider what I might like to do for the next challenge, but I can't really go beyond that.  If I try to fully flesh out a theme or goals while still in the middle of a challenge, it pretty much means that I'm mentally abandoning the current challenge.  I hated having the challenges back-to-back, because it felt like I had no time to plan anything or shift gears from one challenge to the next.

I can't wait to see what you come up with.  Rings are so much fun!  And I'm glad that the jogging is working out pretty well for you. :)

Good day today.

I had my friends coming over for prayer, and then we were going to pizza afterwards. Yesterday I was thinking about the idea of doing my ring skill work after a pizza lunch and in the heat of the day, and decided that wasn't the best plan. So, I went to bed earlier than normal, got up at 7, did my workout, showered, had breakfast, read Bible, did kitchen chores, put the roast in the crockpot, and even had time to read a chapter in the biography I'm reading before my friends showed up at 10! BAM! That's the way to Ranger a morning.:)

Tomorrow I'm going on a hike with friends. Looking forward to that.

I've been following along and I thought I'd already commented but apparently not.

Awesome hiking story! I'm with LadyShello. The fact that you're wondering if it was a mistake means it's definitely an adventure! And it means that you're going outside your comfort zone, which is excellent. Congratulations on your Rangered morning! I feel awesome on days like that.

I like your challenge. I've said before that I'm going to borrow/steal the points idea, but this time I actually doing it. I was just saying in your old thread that I need to change something because the challenge structure is making me too "all or nothing" and I think that might be the change I need.
