deathbyshiny's Death to Laziness: Level 1 replay

So, I did pretty well for my first full challenge, or at least as well as I could being on vacation and dealing with family medical issues. I lost steam near the end because of everything, so I'm going to hit reset and restart the level. :) It's not cheating. It's being strategic.

So here it goes! Starting on the 21st!

Diet:

  1. Eat breakfast within 30 minutes of waking up. (More proteins than carbs.)
  2. Eat vegetables with at least one meal a day.

Fitness:

  1. Do the Darebee Foundation Light program every day. (http://darebee.com/programs/foundation-light-program.html)
  2. Some sort of endurance exercise 3x a week. (Walking, Biking, Etc.)

Life:

  1. Do some sort of me-time activity each day. (Watch an episode of a show, listen to a podcast, read a chapter in a book).
  2. Lower my stress by limiting myself to 3 hours MAX of work after school hours or at home on weekends. (Grading, planning, etc.)

Making a spread in my bullet journal so I can keep track of this, especially the Darebee program. :D I can do better this time and progress to level 2!

@deathbyshiny: Great goals! And thank you for sharing the link to the Darabee program: I had never heard of it. It seems perfect for the "truly beginners" (like me!) and I'll keep it in mind if my new fitness program is to hard for me.

Good luck in your challenge and keep us posted!

Thanks! I came across it a few months ago when clicking through pinterest, and I had it bookmarked, but never really looked at it. I wish I looked at it sooner, it looks great! They have a ton of other programs too, but I decided to start simple.

Love your challenge - what are you planning to eat for your high protein breakfasts?

I'm just about to create a spread in my bullet journal for my challenge too :)

Omg I love it! <3 Bullet journals are the best! <3

I'm going to focus on eggs first and build from there. I just need to remember eggs and stuff over cereal.

Eggs and stuff over cereal sounds terrible! :P

Just kidding, I know what you meant. Good for you for giving yourself another chance to really integrate those habits into your life, instead of checking them off the list and moving on to something else. You've got great solid goals that will pay off big time. Following along!

Maybe it's something like corn flakes, so the eggs give it flavor! haha!

Thanks! So far day one is a win! ;D

I am having a stressful week, so I'm so bad at posting! Haha.

So far so good! I only did one endurance day so far this week, so I have to do some today and tomorrow, but I will have the time and energy to do that, so I should be able to call that a win! The Darebee workout is kicking my butt in a good way. My shoulders and arms are so sore. :D

I do have fasting bloodwork today, so no breakfast for me. Sucks for missing a day because right now this within 30 minutes of waking up thing is my biggest challenge, but it is what it is. I can't exactly eat when I've been told not to. :D

School officially starts Monday, so here's to hoping I don't stay this stressed.

Keeping my fingers crossed for a non stressful school semester!!!

With thy working out and eating breakfast you'll find to be a lot less stressed.

Greek yogurt is really high in protien (if you want to put the over your cereal instead of your eggs) :)

Thanks! Haha. I actually don't like eating yogurt of any kind in the morning because when I was doing that every day, I was getting hungrier sooner (moreso on the greek than on the regular...it was weird.) I might try again, but eggs seem to be the best thing right now!

Week 1 complete!

  1. Eat breakfast within 30 minutes of waking up. (More proteins than carbs.) 6/7 days due to the fasting (that I ended up not needing to do!) 87%
  2. Eat vegetables with at least one meal a day. 6/7 days. I totally dropped the ball on this one yesterday: 87%
  3. Do the Darebee Foundation Light program every day. (http://darebee.com/programs/foundation-light-program.html) 7/7 done! 100%
  4. Some sort of endurance exercise 3x a week. (Walking, Biking, Etc.) 4 days: Weds-Saturday: 114%
  5. Do some sort of me-time activity each day. (Watch an episode of a show, listen to a podcast, read a chapter in a book). 7/7 done! 100%
  6. Lower my stress by limiting myself to 3 hours MAX of work after school hours or at home on weekends. (Grading, planning, etc.) 7/7 done! This will be harder when school starts tomorrow, though. 100%

Week 1 average grade: 98%

Now I just have to kick it into gear and make sure I follow the diet goals once I go back to work tomorrow!

I'll do a full update tomorrow, but the first week of school has kicked my butt, and trying to wake up early, eat breakfast, and leave within a certain amount of time is SO challenging!

I will have to do better next week. The first week of school is no excuse to slack. I need to make sure I'm not so exhausted. I want to get 100% at least one week!

Regarding breakfast; I'd never be able to really eat breakfast M-F. I get up at 4:15am to be out the door by 4:45am and in the gym by 5:30am. Something that works for me are the Premier Protein shakes that Costco sells. They aren't an ideal solution, but they have 30g of protein and only a couple grams of sugar and I can drink them in the car.

Maybe keep a box on hand so that you've got something you can grab on the way out the door on those busy days.

I've tried protein shakes before with no such luck. I wish they worked though! I end up being super hungry after drinking them :(!

I'm thinking quick breakfast muffins (made with eggs and bacon) or something quick I can grab and eat in the car.
