Jedi vs School and Wedding Planning

Recommended Posts

I might measure myself a day early or so. I am not sure if I'm eating the calories I should be and I just haven't been getting enough or if I'm eating far too much. I have no idea what my body is doing. I need to figure it out so that I can decide if my plan is working or if I've botched the eating okay thing. It's so frustrating honestly, I don't know if I'm gaining weight or if the muscle that I'm doubtlessly putting on is nomming the fat cells and extra calories. Even if I haven't lost anything I can work with that, but I was doing really well until the past couple weeks :/

I know this feeling far too well. And I can't really offer you anything but the hand of friendship on this one, since I'm struggling with my own eating and nutrition confusion. But measuring yourself early to get a sense of where you are might help. Good Luck :)

I measured myself this morning and I actually am starting to gain some inches back. But on the up side, all the muscle I'm gaining is keeping the worst of it off! So if I just cut down a little bit, I should be okay to manage.

I sat down and thought about it and realized that the problem was lack of planning. My last grocery run was very uncoordinated and just grab what I think I need. However, I'm much better off when I plan what I'm going to eat in advance so that I have it. I bought preprepped stuff: not great but also not terrible considering my time constraints. I can also add healthier stuff to it when I'm not being dumb about it like I have been -_-

So for next week, I've got a plan! I'll implement the changes as it's possible. Here are the basics:

- Add the berries back into my yoghurt and granola breakfast when I go to the store

- Make sure that when I eat my less healthy things for lunch (Lean pockets, a couple of taquitos, basically microwave/toaster oven food) with something like a bit of fruit or some veggies

- No more than 1 granola bar each day, any other snacks should be fruit of some kind or maybe hummus

- Drink a protein shake at some point in the morning to keep me from needing snacks in the morning (maybe the muscle milk ones like my Fiance swears by that help him eat less?)

- Plan out dinner each week, this week will be chicken alfredo with peas. I wish I could afford to cook bacon to mix in, but oh well. Maybe I'll swap the chicken for shrimp?

- Find something I can have for a sweet treat that I either can't eat much of b/c it's too rich or won't be terrible for me (Ex: I can't eat many Lindt Truffles, but pudding has less calories. Maybe pudding and graham crackers?)

- Start a food log journal again so that I can feel accountable for what I'm eating

I think the biggest thing that derailed me was a combination of a ruined weekly meal (consisting of a ruined meatloaf and inedible potatoes) and a last minute visit of the Fiance, and we still haven't broken the 'being together is a holiday' mentality. It's better than it was usually, but sometimes if we don't plan we end up eating a lot of fast food. Which kinda happened this time, whoops. We will do better next time.

Yeah I know that feeling all too well. I have a very broken relationship with food and honestly the only thing that I have found that works is to pre-plan every single meal and snack I'm having for the whole week, of course things happen and plans change and you need to roll with that, but it helps especially if you are working on a budget (calorie, financial or temporal).

Wish you the best of luck with it!

I've got a pretty broken relationship with food too. It's gotten slowly better over the past couple of years, but I still need to have things vaguely planned out at least. I don't plan out exactly everything, but it's more like I have 4 choices for lunch/dinner and each choice is a specific meal like (3 taquitos and an orange) or (2 pcs of chicken, some veggies, and some mashed potatoes) or (can of turkey chili and some fruit). That way I don't get too tired of the same thing over and over.

I build that into my meal plans :) by being adventurous with what I plan. Often going with new things I've never made or had before but I'm not on a tight budget so it makes things easier, at least in regards to choice.  I would love to get to point where I can be intuitive about things but I really just don't trust myself with it yet. So I encourage you to keep up with that! Honestly though during the week when I have no time I just find it easier already knowing that I am cooking X tonight, or having such and such leftovers.

That is really hard while you guys aren't living together but enjoy it while it lasts! Although it would be better without the fast food!

I've got a fairly limited budget for now unfortunately :/

And it kinda is, I'll be glad when we're living at least near each other in a few months

Well I had to take a break from running today, but it was necessary b/c I was exhausted and sore and a million other unpleasant things. So my running goal gets an A

+3STA +2DEX

My stretching and flexibility have improved, I've usually gotten 6-7 days in every week. Another A.

+3DEX +2CON

Food goal was an epic fail. I was doing so well at the beginning, but not so much right now. I don't know if it's stress or weird adjustments in calories or hormonal issues or what on earth is causing this mess, but I would love for it to go away. Unfortunately, it's not. And I have failed my pass/fail goal for intuitive eating.
