theodinspire Posted August 21, 2016 Report Share Posted August 21, 2016 Alright. I'm kinda miffed at myself for only half-assing the past two challenges. Fitness: A: Physical Activity 3+ times a week. Pass/Fail. I've got two and a half weeks of summer break before grad school kicks back up again. Though I'll be out of state for a good five days in that period. But for the next week and a half, I can definitely go to all four swords classes. I need to get back into my body weight routine. Once school starts, I'll have class Mondays and Wednesdays, which means I'll be missing out on two of three sword classes, so I will definitely have to stick to the body weight. Also I kinda wanna get into rugby shape because I have become rugby trash/my father but with rugby instead of hockey. P: 60 pull ups a week. Grade scale. Well, I should be getting at least 45 a week from the BWF routine alone. But I really need to get in shape for that ring muscle up that is my goal for the year. That rapier class I took really got in the way there. But this should make me post each day, and keep on the rest. Life: T: At least one big home task a week. Pass/Fail. Hey, I changed the kitchen faucet today; so that's this week ;D Some projects: Finish that cardigan that I was knitting for my wife. Replace the kitchen faucet. Bag and board all the comics TBD D: Get that blasted Django server running. Grade scale for effort (C for concerted effort but no advancement. B for running. A for checked in code) I've been struggling with this OpenWorm project I've been working on for ten days now and while I can get the server to run, I can't seem to get any pages to load. I've got a feeling that the structure of it is off on my computer, so I've put the call for help to the group to see what they have to say. I gist'd my file structure and error dump to one of the engineers. He's in South Asia, so we have nearly opposite schedules. This might be a game of phone tag. And, I I kinda did a muscle up. Kinda. I got pulled up, threw my elbows on the bar, hoisted myself up, and only didn't do a dip because I was already at the ceiling. The squat rack at the sala is in a low ceiling'd room. I need to earn a couple badges on the Hodgkin-Huxley model and modeling muscles. I found out that there are pick-up rugby league games in Chicago. I'm spinning down the loo of becoming a sportsball person. My muscle-up goal and my sword training and school and family and work and getting programming experience must take precedence but I want so much to give this a go. Also, I only got 14 pull-ups in my work out (it's pretty amazing how exhausting planks and handstand practice are), so I did another six after I'd been home for a while. I'm just concerned that it's making me overly concerned about keeping it, and especially with the bairn on the way, I don't want to have that additional stress. Here's last week A: 4/3 P: 60*/60 T: 1/1 D: Didn't get a chance to remote into my home computer to give it another go. * The gym at my parents' didn't have a pull-up bar, so I had to use the lat pull down cable machine. Since I'm working on a muscle-up, I worked the exercise to throw the bar below my chest, at a fairly challenging level. 3×10, but since it was easier than a pull up, I'm taking a 1/6 penalty on them. I'm counting all the extra walking I did at the Minnesota State Fair and Minnesota Renaissance Festival as a quarter activity each. I remember the first time I tried it, I was actually doing pretty well at it, and hitting 5k on most of my times out, but now, it was a bit of jogging and a lot of walking for a half hour. But if I want to do rugby I've gotta be able to run forever. Not really a runner for joint safety reasons, but it might be good for a speedy hike of the longer sort.
