I've been spending the last couple of months trying different things to see what my body likes. (Spoiler alert: it likes food, beer, and lots of physical activity.) this month I need to get down to business - I'm not happy with my general fluffiness, and am about ready to rededicate myself to the hard work I need to do in order to lose the next 10-20 lbs.

I'm at the beach right now and didn't have a chance to set up my challenge properly, so here are my loose goals:

Do my running schedule. It is almost every other day, I'll add a pic when I'm back near my calendar.

Weeks 2-4 drop calories. I'll figure that out but it will be based on my BMR.

Add in core strength exercises too.

Keep up my mostly everyday hooping.

Went for a run today, 2miles (I think!) in 17:14. The super high heat broke on Sunday night and it's lovely out. Sunday I did what I think was 3 miles in 26:25. When I'm at a computer I need to check my distances more accurately.

Hey!  There's my twinster!

 

Your adventures are so amazing girl, I love that you do these things.    I'm so right there too on the 10-20 pounds business.  Though I think I could be solid losing just 10, and hitting the 13 mark would settle me right at the next lower decade give or take a few pounds.   

 

I also like food, milkshakes and lots of activity.   You got the better deal, one beer is way less calories than one milkshake!

Oh hi!!!

We are (were) at Assateague island state park. It's a great place with wild horses, hot showers, flush toilets, and a super fun ocean. Highly recommended!

I totally grabbed the hoop and said "TAKE MY PICTURE!!!"

We had a great time and are on our way back. I am more sunburnt than normal, my spf 45 wasn't the best (and the ocean was SO nice that I stayed in too long without reapplying). I ate a lot of snacks! Namely Oreos and cheese balls. But also I didn't have any drinks (ok just 2 -3 beers) and got huge Fitbit adjustments every day so.... Hard to care. Next week I am cutting, I'll have a weight tomorrow and Sunday to base my restricted calorie levels on. Sigh!

hello, I'm back. in the office. working. sigh.

 

vacation was wonderful! a little hectic b/c we have lots of friends with little kids who want to do things now, and that causes too many excursions off the island. next year I am going to have to say: "we aren't leaving except for 1 crab dinner trip and 1 boardwalk and lunch trip, so we will be here when you return and let us know if you want to eat dinner with us here."

 

week 2!

I reset my loseit app to drop 1 lb a week, which has never worked for me (likely because I never track every single tiny thing I eat down to the gram -- long term, I ended up losing 1/2 a lb a week on that schedule) and I'm limited to 1750ish calories per day. My weight is up today (trendweight says 187.7, which softens the over 190 lb jump overnight) because it is LADY POW and also I just got back from a salty snack vacation. sighs.

 

we got home on friday night, and sat. the regular dojo classes were off (the instructor is out of town) so I asked my regular instructor if she would meet me early to do forms. which she did, yay. then I kind of flopped around all day like a magicarp, culminating with afternoon beers and ramen for dinner. #notsorry.

 

I ran on sunday - we were supposed to do a formal 5K run, but instead went into nyc to visit my brother who just had his esophomectamy to treat his esophageal cancer. they removed his esophagus and stretched his stomach up to replace it. he is super uncomfortable but recovering very nicely. the surgery was 11 hours, omg, and the whole family was on tenterhooks as we got past hour 9. thank goodness it went so well.

 

so, I got up before we took the train to the city and ran a quick 3 miles. as per running requreiments. I was not into it! but I did it!

 

this morning I woke up very crampy and tired, so I called up the academy workouts and did the calibrate thingy at the beginning. I haven't really logged in since the program was revamped. it placed me at BW3A and after I did the test squats and push-ups and planks I also threw in an easy set of ab exercises from darebee, stretched my legs out a little, and made breakfast.

 

yo guys, after the incredible numbers of squats and lunges I was doing just a year ago, I have lost so much strength in my legs. I am seriously needing this re-dedication to bodyweight exercises. running gets to be so *easy.* ugh. so, I'm adding that in to my calendar. I'll schedule it on a week-to-week basis, as opposed to the running schedule which is pretty well set through the challenge (because of the number of 10Ks I'm doing through October). my husband is getting totally back into running too, which I am so happy about.

 

on the sleep side - I haven't been getting great sleep since returning from the beach. the electricity! it makes staying up so easy! I love camping for a week when my circadian rhythms get all normalized again! I wish I was better at re-entry and not letting electronics mess that up for me. I have a work dinner tonight but will go straight to bed when I get home, so as not to wreck myself even more.

Oh, I could have guessed you were there!  As a horse lover, I have of course read Misty several times, and of course, Stormy, the foal of Misty.  And had all the Breyer Horses to match.   >.>   I really should get there some day!

Girl, I feel like you and I could run identical challenges sometimes.  Except, I'd be putting hockey in place of ninja stuff.   I also have not checked out the academy since they revamped, (and really, bought it and havent' used it hardly at all, ugh) so you've started a bit of a spark to get me to looking into that.

 

I also am changing MFP to have me lose 1lb/week (and also has not worked for me in the past, and who knows why) so....

LOL well by easy I mean I go outside and head out in one direction and I can't stop until I get back home again. when I do squats or lunges I can stop anytime I want! the mental work is hard!

he is on clear liquids today and happier than ever before to eat jello. probably will be discharged tomorrow, yay!

he will have the feeding tube for a few weeks while his new stomachy esophagus heals up, but at least he will be at home and not in a hospital.

week 2 day 5?

 

wow this week even.

 

So, I did my 2 miles of running on tuesday, but did not do any bw on wednesday or thursday. I have 3 miles of running for tomorrow morning. I'll be working at home, though, so it will work.

 

I had a super hectic week. Monday night my supervisor, her supervisor, and some other people arrived in NJ for meetings. we had a big late dinner with our big boss and I didn't get home until midnight. so the running on tuesday felt herculean. also dinner was HUGE, and I had some wine, and also a 10 oz steak. we had a full day meeting on tuesday and then I stayed late for dinner again with the out-of-towners. but! I participated in some high level meetings and I'm being put in a position that will be very good for my career, like, within 2 months. my supervisor is REALLY good at hearing me, and at putting me in positions that will lead to growth.

 

I've been doing really good on the calories - with the exception of monday - I've been right on my new reduced calorie budget. there's been a weight drop too but! my ladypow was FIERCE on monday and tuesday, and my precipitous drop on scale weight drop from 191.7 to 184.3 is probably entirely due to that. trended, I've lost 0.7 lbs so far this week. this is why the trended weight is better. it's not such a rollercoaster.

 

sleep, though, that's the pits. I got less than 5 hours of sleep on monday night. my average for the week is just at 5 hours 59 minutes per night, which is SO LOW and I will never recover (this week).

 

tomorrow I will run, and then there's birthday party for thirteen at his mom's house, so I'll need to manage my work-from-home calories reasonably well. there's a block party that I need to volunteer at in NYC on sat., so I will drive or take the train down and spend most of the day. I might miss black belt class because of that. And then sunday is my long run - 5 miles. monday, so excite, nothing planned for monday. I am looking forward to the 3 day weekend.

Awesome! Will you be getting some kind of promotion?

 

Also glad that your brother is recovering well AND at home. Because hospitals... ugh.
