I missed this earlier - did you end up deciding to keep swimming? Are you at an outdoor pool, or just don't like cold air on your way home? What is this waterproof MP3 player you speak of? Darn lazy kids vamp.. people. In my day, if we wanted music while swimming we darn well hummed or sang songs (in our heads of course - let me tell you, multiple 500s are boring as hell). Anywho - If you're liking the swimming, I'd keep at it, and switch to yoga when it's too cold for your tastes. You know, you could pick a mantra to recite while doing your laps, since your player is kaput. I've found that when I'm mentally tired for any reason, I can't control my thoughts well, and swimming isn't an environment that lets me distract myself from what I'm thinking. Some sorts of exercise shut down the brain, but swimming just seems to make my thoughts louder. sarakingdom
For future reference, I must vork on these little steps towards mastering the v-vord: Not vun drop of v-vord after midnight. A vorkout before bed each night. Move my vorkout back to start at 11pm, and then 10:30pm, so I can spend more time reading in bed. Schedule fun things like read und vatching documentaries for an hour in bed. Measure "enough vork" as accomplishing at least the three most important tasks on ze list. Schedule those things first. Schedule a small rest for the brain in the day vith nothing planned to do. Schedule vun hour (vorking up to four) of my most thinking-intensive vork first thing in my vorking day. Implement a firm vork shutdown time to stop vorking at a specific time each day, so my brain stops vorking several hours before bedtime. I vill talk in my daily post about my daily accomplishments und how much rest for the brain I have had. Und maybe take a thermos of herbal tea to bed, so vhen I vake at 4am, I can have a nice soothing varm drink of tea und some podcast, und get back to sleep in half an hour. I cannot take cocoa, of course, but varm tea should address most of the possible causes of vakefulness at 4am. 3 Quote I felt like I could run forever, like I could smell the wind and feel the grass under my feet, and just run forever.
