Yasha's ROAR gets stronger

Yasha92

Recommended Posts

Ahoy-hoy friends! A challenge similar to the last as I'm trying to stick with what works and adding little bits and pieces throughout the challenge rather than all at the start and succumbing to RangerBrain(TM) and falling off the forums.

5-and-2, Pal: Food tracking on MFP plus photos. Aim for 8160 kJ, not focusing on macros just yet, just choosing real food whenever I can. 5 Freggies. Continue increased water.

ROAR and more: Continuing on the 12wkch I started at the gym, week 0 of this NF challenge will be week 4 in the 12wkch so it will be weeks 4-8, there’s potentially going to be a check in on week 6 (NF challenge wk 2) I’m keen to get some feedback on my progress, but I know even if I don’t see any change in numbers I’ve gained some serious strength and stamina compared to when I started, but it would be nice to see some numbers changing too.

Adulting: Before bed routine and I am adding something like Tank’s domestic Rangering to keep the new place all pretty and presentable for myself just as much as it is for entertaining friends. I like it when the house is clean, but I don’t bother unless there are people coming over. Hosting DnD on Mondays is helping, but I don’t want to do a big clean on Sunday, but rather exist in a mostly-clean state and just touch up little things here and there before the game. I will figure out a way to do this, but I’m not yet sure…

Forums: I tend to lurk!follow, rather than being forthcoming with my comments/encouragements. I will try to comment at least once/day on multiple threads since I like it when people comment on mine.

Here's a bear doing burpees to get the challenge started!

5-and-2, Pal: 6924/ 8160. I felt like I ate a lot today, so I'm surprised I didn't hit the 8k mark... I'm keeping a log as well so if I don't see results I can check in with the trainer. Freggies: banana, blueberries, half a tomato, capsicum, cucumber, beans and carrot sticks. 6/5. Water 2/2.

555b5cfe83fea97706ffee970d006c3e.jpg

ROAR and more: Attended the morning session and pushed through even though my feet were burning again. Found out later when I spoke to the chiropractor that one of the exercises (the inchworm, going from standing to hands flat on the floor, walking hands out to beyond plank then walking feet in to hands with straight legs) was pinching the nerve that runs through L5 (my damaged disc), I will speak to the trainer about subbing it for something else. Good news: Mr has signed up for the next 4week ROAR round, starting next week but he will be coming to the next 2 this week to try them out. We both need to get sneakers and will hopefully do that tomorrow afternoon.

46ce0c4092f4be754bd088d9ac3d855d.jpg

Adulting: Before bed routine- teeth, vitamins, dishwasher, set out clothes for tomorrow. Other adulting: folded a basket of laundry, draino'ed the shower drain and scrubbed as much of the pipe as I could reach (still not draining properly, will need to repeat), prepped chicken meatballs to take as lunches for the next 2 days.

Forums: commented on Wolfie's thread, liked a bunch of posts (needs work).

Journaling: an ok day today and a strong start to the challenge. Had some issues with communication with Mr (I though we were going to the gym to sign him up in the morning when I got back from the chiropractor, he thought we were going in the afternoon), but once we sorted that out it was a good day. Cleaned up a bit for DnD and had an epic end-of-campaign fight against the God-Dragon. We won and saved the world from her tyranny!

Polar bear burpees is one of the best things ever in the history of ever.

I wonder if it's possible for a human to do in-the-water-burpees... I may have to try this once the weather heats up!

Love the challenge, Yasha! I'm excited to team up with you some more these next couple weeks [emoji6]

Welcome welcome Wolfie! Together we shall Hax all the things! *dramatic fist pump to the air*

Following! That video is awesome!

Welcome aboard Elastigirl, glad to have you! There are a set of rings at the gym and every time I notice them I think of you and am tempted to play on them XP (I haven't found your challenge thread for this round yet, is it not up or am I not looking hard enough?)

That vid is at the St Louis Zoo! Probably one of my favourite zoos in the world (the others being Wichita Kansas Zoo and Chester Zoo here in the UK). Good luck with your challenges!

Hello hello! Thanks for the well-wishes, I'm keen to start smashing these goals (while somehow keeping rangerbrain in check). I love the zoo! I should try and get there more often.

Following along. [emoji4]

Glad to have you! I shall try to find your challenge and follow you back!

Following along. Seems like you are already making strides towards you goals [emoji4]

Also, that fish and side dish look delicious!

Thanks! I'm happy with my choice of goals this challenge, a stretch but all achievable. Glad to have you! Yes it was homemade fried rice that Mr made, it was more flavour bits than rice (egg, peas, bacon etc) and it was indeed delicious ^_^

omg burpie bear! Thats amazing.

I'm enjoying your adulting/domestic rangering. I really need to get some of that into my life!

Me too! He looks so happy! Definitely not the look on my face when I'm doing burpees XP I too am in need of the domestic rangering, I've downloaded the unfuck your habitat app and am keen to follow along on some of the mini cleaning missions rather than one big marathon clean :)

I'm not ashamed to admit I've watched that video about a dozen times tonight :D I agree, definately not how I look when I'm doing a burpie! I've got to checkout this unfuck your habitat app!

You should play on the rings some. So much fun.You can just practice swinging, or see if you can do a skin the cat. My challenge should go up soon.

5-and-2, Pal: 7364/ 8160. Again I didn't hit the 8k mark... After dinner I made a solid effort to catch up to the goal with almonds, yoghurt, honey and a mug of milk, but still 700 or so under. Freggies: banana, blueberries, a tomato, half a capsicum, a cucumber, an apple 6/5. Water 2/2.

ROAR and more: Bought Mr a cheap pair of sneakers to use in the interim before payday when we will get proper sneakers. My back was very sore today (unsure if from the inch worms or from the chiro readjustment) so lots of heat and a bit of gentle stretching.

Adulting: Before bed routine- teeth, vitamins, dishwasher, set out clothes for tomorrow. Other adulting: set out Mr's gym clothes, water bottles and towels for tomorrow's session.

Forums: commented on Wolfie's thread, Ranger 5's thread, still room for improvement.

Journaling: an ok day today, had one bonkas visitor that we ended up calling security for (he was a time traveler, which was fine, and he demanded that we give him paperwork to prove he's a doctor since his name starts with D, which was not fine) I don't care how crazy you are, you don't get to bully my teammates. Still really struggling with motivation at work, wasn't helped today by how tired I was (didn't get to bed until 2am post DnD). Rolled up a character in the evening ready for the next campaign- a gnome ranger.

5-and-2, Pal: 6873/ 8160. Again I didn't hit the 8k mark... I realised I did hit the total yesterday as I had an additional iced coffee I forgot to add. Freggies: banana, blueberries, a tomato and a half, half a capsicum, a cucumber, zucchini, beans 7/5. Water 2/2.

ROAR and more: massive one today, not much running but heaps of strength based stuff. I used a slightly stronger resistance band than normally and SMASHED out 30chinups, I was super impressed with myself! Got most of the way down the list (only got 4star push-ups in, didn't get to the burpees) in the 25mins allocated.

Adulting: Before bed routine- teeth, vitamins, dishwasher, set out clothes for tomorrow (50%). Other adulting: swept the kitchen, went to bed in gym gear and on time ready for tomorrow's session.

Forums: all the threads seemed relatively quiet today, I don't think I commented at all.

Journaling: morning gym was amaze and I'm so proud of my Mr and his effort, came along and gave it everything (to the point of up-chuck, so maybe a little more than he should have). I spoke to the trainer about not doing the inch worms which have been more like pinch worms on my sciatic nerve he said to remind him when they next come up an we'll sub them for something else.

1: your food porn is pretty fantastic and I was super envious of the steak and tomatoes. Soooooo gooooood

2: that list is intense, and burpees are the devil (but I love them, so I guess they can't be all evil?)

3: ADULTING! YEeeaaAAAAAH!

4: how did you go about making the forum goals? I want to get better at replying to forum replies and posting regularly but now that I'm not at my desk a lot I don't know how to go about it. Suggestions?

Curious...what are "Rhino Beetles"?!? The name just kinda makes it sound like they would be tiring.

In the morning when my alarm first goes off I read over all the new replies to the threads I'm following and if there's anything I think of to say at that point I do (plus reading from a backlit phone help me not to fall back asleep). Then if I think of something extra trough the day i make an effort to get on and reply.

They are! You go down on the ground with hands and toes on the ground and knees under the body (like being on hands and knees in a table position except with the knees held off the floor) then lift one arm up and push the opposite knee diagonal under the body so you sort of open to the side of the raised arm. Does that make sense? If not I'll try to make a video later...

Ah OK yes that does make sense! I have done those in a workout before...didn't call them that...but if my memory serves me right they were pretty exhausting!

Decided to check out your challenge after the D12 reference in Sparrow's thread.  Glad I did.  God-dragons and gnome rangers and delicious looking food?!?  My kind of challenge.

Are you playing 5e?  If so you'll have to let me know how you like Ranger.  I've heard mixed reviews.

Welcome welcome :) we have been playing 5e in the campaign which just ended (with the death of the god dragon) and this new campaign will be 5e the Ravenloft setting/campaign. I'll keep you updated on how I enjoy the ranger class, I've played a thief when we were playing basic 2-3years ago and I'm keen to get back on the archery train~

I've never been much of a ranged player. Always melee until this year when I started venturing into casters. My last 5e character was actually my first bard and I had a blast playing him. Excited to see how it goes for you.
