They're little cakes about the size of a cookie, they have a sweet orange jelly topping with dark chocolate over the top. Might not be something you can find over there, but a common British treat. I'm starting to think I should mail everyone a packet so they can try them!

I think it's illegal to leave a packet half eaten. Sighing! I forgot the sighing! That's shameful, I should have my passport revoked. ;)

 

Day 5 part 2

 

I actually managed to talk myself out of my run last night. Naughty me. I felt tired when I got home and I really really wanted to try a new bench PB and film it. I told myself if I went for a run, I'd be in no state to bench. Who knows if I was right or not, but now I need to run on Saturday morning to make up for it. 

 

Here's my bench video, cross posted from Wild Wolf's challenge. This is my first set at 37kg (even though I say 38 at the start). I did another set at this weight after this.

I'm happy with the PB as I know I can do more than that if I'm not exhausted. Bench press and OHP have been a bit slow in progressing, I think it's because I haven't been doing those lifts much over the summer due to all the races. I always avoided these lifts in the week before an event as I was afraid of getting noodle arms on race day! Now the season is coming to an end, I can start focusing on these again and hopefully my numbers will start to go up a bit faster.

There is a special place for people like you! Unfortunately it happens to be the same place where they put people who occasionally call their trousers pants :(  Still I hear they have the BEST OCRs there so it should be fine.

Grrr, just went down to go for a swim, only to find that the pool is closed for use today as they've got school swimming lessons this afternoon. Which is really annoying as they told me they don't use the pool for lessons between 12-2pm. So that's my swim goal fucked for this week. They've promised me that it's only Friday's so I need to rejig my plans for the following weeks.

 

At least I'm climbing tonight so it's not a completely wasted day.

Yeah, it's just irritating that I'll have an incomplete goal this week. Maybe I'll try swimming twice next week instead

Thanks! Actually that holder doesnt have the bobble hats you get from dirty dozen races, I've got 4 bobble hats that are all the same! Hope you'll be sharing a picture of your medal after Sunday.

Climbing went OK tonight, I was a bit rusty after not climbing for a few weeks, so had to drop back to some of the easier tiger routes. Need to start going more regularly as my grip went faster than I expected. Got a few videos of me climbing, I'll post tomorrow once they're uploaded. Right now I need to go to sleep! Nighty night!

That doesn't matter. I think you should still out them on display, It's a great motivator. And I'm sure they wont be the only medals you get.

I finally looked up DryRobe, and I kinda want one just for walking around in daily life, they look super cozy!

 

My legs are OK (apart from the usual bruising) but my arms are dead! I keep dropping things as my grip is completely worn out. It's been a long time since they've felt this sore after a race.

 

We've brought my friend a Dryrobe for her birthday and she plans on using it for winter dog walks!

I'm more nervous than I look in that video, and it wasn't the first take. I stopped and started the recording a few times and rehearsed what to say on the way back from the race! Preparation = fake confidence!

This was another event that didn't have changing facilities or showers! There were a few girls struggling to get changed in the bag drop tent afterwards. You should definitely look at some of the smaller events if you have some in your area. They always seem a bit "low rent" compared to the big ticket events, but the OCR spirit is still there and it's a great way to get your OCR fix without it costing the earth.

Week One Wrap Up

Would have hit all my goals this week if the pool hadn't been closed on Friday. But on the plus side, I had to do 4 swims across a lake yesterday so that counts, right? Nope, happened on Sunday so not part of week 1. 

 

Looking forward to week 2, I'm counting yesterdays OCR as my long run. I was only 10k, but I won't get a chance to go a longer run this week so it's going to have to count. My arms are currently screwed so lifting is going to have to wait till much later in the week. Ditto for climbing. If my arms still hate me by Wednesday, I'll sub in a yoga session for lifting.

Was thinking about your thread this weekend because I remembered another "un-sexy" thing about running. I have long fine hair. If I have it in a ponytail during certain kinds of weather, it forms a crazy, ridiculous dreadlock-y snarl on itself (I know you have short hair and are spared this particular one).

 

I went for a long run this weekend. Took a shower and washed my hair, but didn't have time to deal with the crazy medusa mess. Threw it into a knotty bun, rushed off to do something at work, and rushed over to my friend's house to watch the football game on tv. Had to spend a good 10 minutes in the bathroom combing it out during half-time. Fortunately they are very good friends and didn't think it was too weird :-)

 

Just thought I would add another one to the list
