Not much going on this challenge in terms of nerd content and games. Sorry no zombies or neighbors to be saved. I took last challenge off and hit kind of a meh period, had a lovely bike wreck and luckily did not break anything(going 18 MPH and the wheel snapped all the way to the left suddenly) but suffered some nice road rash and some general poopy attitude about being so sore and missing workouts. 2 weeks afterwards I was pretty much pain free. I am now only 2 weeks out from my IRONMAN so number one focus is training/diet. I am going to continue my old method of posting daily habits and chores and just marking off what I do and grading myself based on the progress made. After 10/1 I am unsure where my challenge will head but there will be a recomp of goals and sort of a new challenge inside this challenge. I originally thought I was going to continue this long distance thing and go even further(double or triple IRONMAN next October) but recently I am deciding it is not really for me. I am likely going to do sprint Tri's and get much more back into lifting/rucking, I may even pick up rollerblading(tricks on rails and jumping stairs) again.

 

One other big thing recently is I am down 25lbs just about. I have started bagging up my current clothing(style would be best described as Hobo) for donation and have purchased some really nice clothing that fits properly. First day at work I was asked where my interview is so I know I am looking good. I am starting to feel strongly about dressing nicely as a part of feeling good.

Oh mannnn, that crash does not sound fun! I'm so glad it was mostly superficial injuries and that you were able to hop right back into training. You're so close to this thing!

Workout for today is a 1:15 bike ride. Then I need to drop the bikes off at the shop for a final service. I am getting a full race setup with a disc in the rear(hoping for low winds). Lots of other small chores to do and tons of dailies, I likely won't finish everything but that is ok. Valiant efforts will be made!

whoot! good luck on the ironman! I'm mad jealous of your dedication. 

 

Also sorry about the wreck, I've done that too. Glad nothing too serious happened. Is your bike carbon? I just ride alloy so I can toss it down the mountainside without fear of cracking :)

It is carbon, talking with the shop after it happened they seemed to think and wreck will not crack or damage the carbon, it needs an outside force like a car, large animal/person, or another bike. I'll post a picture of it later this week when I get my race wheels on it.

I love gifs

 

Missed a few things but worked hard up until bed time. I did have to cut my bike short since I had to leave it at the shop to get race wheels and they were closing. Bed early but didn't read, I'll ease back into this slowly. Calories and carbs were great, calories slightly below my goal at 2,400 and no booze.

Tons to do today and I have video games from 8-10. Got to work super early so I can leave at 2:30 and attempt to get as much done as possible. 90 minute run today, going to take it very slow.

I love gifs

 

Missed a large amount of stuff but I was running around with errands and picked up both bikes. I also biked instead of running but meh, wanted to try the disc and rode with the shop owner. Calories were slightly over at 3k due to pizza, but no booze again. I can do better especially with completing my push ups and sit ups and stretching.

9 days

 

Going to be a long day, work then swim then meeting with coaches at 6PM. Wife did get a half day and was going to knock out the dishes build up! All in all going to be hectic again and tomorrow I need to work 10 hours. Swimming today!

Swam but cut it a little short due to my arm feeling funny. Worked 10 hours then had a 2 hour meeting with the coaches, I got home at 8 and went to bed at 9 so a lot of stuff did not get done but I was not being lazy about it.

O man, this weekend was great, only did a 3 hour 45 mile ride Saturday. Afterwards we had so much free time we had no clue what to do. Sunday was a 50 minute continuous pool swim, I covered just over 2k meters.

 

This week is race/taper week so I am taking it easy and not going to be doing daily stuff, only packing/prepping and working some extra hours!

 

We are driving out to the eastern shore of Maryland on Thursday morning and doing race packet pick up and all the fun stuff. I'll likely post more then since we will be sitting around the hotel room trying to stay off our feet.

Woke up this morning nice and early after an entertaining evening of television and tea. I drove straight to the gym, swam 400M and ran a mile. This is big because after the IRONMAN I need to get in the habit of morning workouts to maximize free time(workouts will be shorter and more manageable).

 

Added a few more carbs into my diet today and working extra so I can try not to burn as much vacation time for the race. I'll post my bib number and the tracking link closer to race day so those interested can live track me all day!

 

Also planned post race dinner since every place could potentially be closed and we are having family get us take out from a very legit looking NY style pizza place so we are guaranteed NOMS. Racing from 7AM to potentially 11-12PM is going to be rough. I estimate I may burn around 400-500 calories an hour.

 

Large all meats pizza

20 wings

Jalapeno poppers

Veal parm sub, double meat double cheese

2 Five guys cheeseburgers.

 

I'll likely make it through just over half the pizza/wings stuff and then wake up around 4 AM and finish it off then for breakfast immediately those burgers. I may have a beer post race after some heavy hydration as well as I have a 500 calorie bag of pork rinds at finish.

 

I mean this is really the most important part right?

Worked 13 hours yesterday so I am good to take off Thursday and Friday. Stopping at grocery for last minute supplies and then going home and putting a hitch receiver on my car for the bike rack, loading bikes for the morning and packing packing packing.

I am an IRONMAN!

 

I'll summarize more when I have a chance, going to the beach to walk around the boardwalk. Coastal flooding made at least a mile worth of the marathon a hike through knee deep puddles. The town and spectators were amazing!
