It was awesome running into you guys at the waterfall.  Made for a really pleasant afternoon!

I still think we should have drowned the Rheno up there though.  ;)

I see how it is.  No appreciation for the Log Parkour guy, just the photographer.  How typical!  :P

GRUB

1.0: Post-airport-food-day, a little low, lots of days to bring it up.

1.1: 97g

1.2: Ate With Sense today, mostly

1.3: Close, but I didn't feel right counting it with that sugary Tazo tea in there, so I did not.

1.4: This has gotten easier than expected, but I'll continue to be accountable this challenge. If it doesn't get tough again these 4 weeks, it will drop back off.

Foods: My Fit Foods Farmhouse Steak & Eggs (medium size). Needed a big breakfast because I Did The Squats. Sweet tea, then wasn't really hungry, lunch was a protein shake. Snacked on cheese. Dinner was a wonderful pork roast and potatoes. The house smelled amazing all day. Should really stop buying SO much from My Fit Foods, because expensive. So easy though :S

MOVEMENT

2.0: Squat day!

Squats

1x5 52 lbs

1x5 65 lbs

1x3 78 lbs

1x3 91 lbs

1x3 104 lbs

1x7 117 lbs

1x5 123.5 lbs

1x4 130 lbs

1x3 136.5 lbs

The last four sets were all rep PRs, which is my goal this week. Rep PRs everywhere. Great success. I love the little blue trophies in FitNotes. They make me feel so good. I filmed the 117 lb set, but the angle was really awful (I was experimenting), and the lens got partially obscured on top of that, so, oh well.

Deadlifts

1x5 75 lbs

1x3 95 lbs

5x3 138 lbs

There are four platforms, and a break between the middle two, so there were two platforms this guy could have picked where we didn't have to alternate sets. He chose poorly. That's ok, I wasn't in a rush, since I took a day off work for additional camp decompression.

Seated Leg Curlz

1x8 55 lbs

4x9 55 lbs

Forgot to increase reps the first time.

Filmed some chin ups this afternoon, and glad I did. LEG KIPPING WHAT?!

Also, my shoulder has a pain in it. It is joint-feeling. I swapped my mixed grip on deadlifts today because it hurt more when my left hand was supinated than when it wasn't (it actually barely hurt at all when not). I think it is built up from when I struggled to get plates off of a deadlift bar without the jack last Friday, and it seems I keep irritating it any time I pull outward from center. Chin ups did not hurt at all, so I'm hopeful for OHP day.

2.1: N/A because it is not Wednesday

MOBILITY

3.0: Went over time actually, so I got this and then some. Worked mostly hips and hamstrings.

ADULTING, THE GAME

4.0: Earned 14, spent 0. Napped a lot. Wrote/brainstormed for 20 minutes, staved off point degradation for today. Almost forgot!

4.1: This week's to do list

 - Research and purchase study materials for MS 70-462

 - Devise a training plan for MS 70-462

 - Clean the bathroom countertop

 - Clean the bathroom floor

Scoring format:

1.0: 0/1, 0/1, 0/1, 0/1

1.1: 1/7, 0/7, 0/7, 0/7

1.2: 1/4, 0/4, 0/4, 0/4

1.3: 0/1, 0/1, 0/1, 0/1

1.4: 0/0, 0/0, 0/0, 0/0

2.0: 1/4, 0/4, 0/4, 0/4

2.1: 0/1, 0/1, 0/1, 0/1

3.0: 1/7, 0/7, 0/7, 0/7

4.1: 0/1, 0/1, 0/1, 0/1

Point Balance: 14

That log, though! Very sneakily slippery in the middle. You too! Next time I will try very hard to hide less :)

I think they give you negative gems for drowning other campers! It wasn't exactly in the rulebook, though, was it... HMMM

That log was trickier than it looked, for sure.

That is a lot of squat volume with a lot of rep PRs to go with it--good days at the gym are the best.

How much coffee have you had?

Sooooo

It's funny you ask! I decided to try out a pre-workout (just caffeine and something, creatine maybe? got it from Sprouts) and before using it tomorrow I wanted to make sure it wouldn't kill me, so I had a half dose.

btw, that is totally enough pre-workout I don't think I'll be wanting more than half a scoop ... like ever

well, maybe if I've got to stay up 48 hours or something, then I might go whole hog.

Likewise. I used to dread them but am loving them of late.

Thanks for the camp writeup. I'm in the "maybe someday I'll go" boat, so it's good to get some first-hand reporting.

I totally have it in my head that pre workout is like cocaine or something, and that if I try it once I'll want to drink it all day long everyday just to get anything done :P Have you noticed any crash effects when it wears off?

I was pretty sleepy already when I tried it, and now I'm about that sleepy again, so I'm not sure if that counts as a crash. Probably! Not as bad as eating a pile of sugar would be, for dang sure.

I think I'll just crush up caffeine pills and mix them into my coffee then. This feeling sounds marvelous. ;)

Crap. I'm totally gonna end up trying it LOL. Although I wonder if anyone can weigh in on the creatine, I understand it's cumulative and doesn't really do much until you've been taking it everyday for several weeks... Is that right?

I understand most supplements operate on this principle, except caffeine. It's a special snowflake.

I've been on creatine now for 3 months.  It has some benefits.  I find that it lets you get a couple more reps once you're starting to fatigue.  There is some research to indicate that it might improve muscle satellite cells and myonuclei count, but that would be a bonus.  If you take creatine at normal dosing for a week, you should saturate.  You'll pull more water into the muscle (probably gain a couple pounds of water weight, but that weight is in the muscle giving a slightly more pumped look).  It's fairly cheap and the dosing is pretty low.  I haven't really thoroughly experimented with stopping taking it and seeing if my volume decreases and then going back on.
