Re-Surviving The Zombie Apocalypse :: LolaVictrola

Hi everyone,
I was, once upon a time, a regular fixture on this site. I have a faded and peeling NF bumper sticker on my car. But I fell off the wagon, hard. I'm about 50 pounds over where I was when I was last here. Sigh. BUT I'M BACK. Let's do this.
I was once an assassin, but with some thought, I've realized that the Adventurer clan is a much better fit to what I actually do/who I am.
I love zombie movies, video games, etc. Right now, I would die IMMEDIATELY. My ultimate quest is to reach a state of health where I would stand a chance!

Worthy goals! I know I will never survive the zombie apocalypse, because I am a very slow runner. My husband is fast, and he's made it clear what his survival strategy is... (you don't have to be fast, just faster than the slowest person you're with haha)

Pfft, all you have to do is be able to trip someone faster than you and you'll still be fine!

Welcome to the Adventurer's! I really like how you are focusing your goals over the next few months and tailoring them to something you love (although I might have a small concern over becoming a big sister and stealing stuff in the same goal... :panda:).

I'll be checking in with you to see how you are doing and noting the lovely progress you make!

Hahaha. For me, personally, charisma means building relationships. For me, NF/zombie style, it means being sneaky and cunning. Both require being social, building rapport, etc. Two sides of the same coin ;)

9/22 Update:

Somehow, I've lost 10 pounds in the 2 weeks since I last weighed myself. I'm kind of shocked. I guess just thinking about it was enough to help me make some better choices!

Goal #1: STA     Check-In

No real exercise yet (this week I finish a HUGE project and will have more time), but I completed 1 "25 something" of wall push-ups this morning.

Goal #2: CON     Check-In

Making small, but positive gains here!

Nicely done, that's some pretty amazing weight loss! And well done on your goals so far, every little bit counts!

Looks like you and I have some stuff in common.  I too fell of the band wagon and have lost ground.  I was also an Assassin but Adventurer fits me so much better.  I also love zombie-stuff and I'm pretty sure I wouldn't survive if it happened.  And just like you, I'm back.  One definite way to survive the Zombie Apocalypse is to team up with other survivors, so WELCOME BACK!  And congrats on your early weight-loss success!

9/27 Update:

Howdy all! Thanks for your words of encouragement :)

Goal #1: STA     Check-In

Did 1 "25-something" this morning! Hoping to conquer 2 more before Friday :)

Goal #2: CON     Check-In

I've been paying things down, and been about 50% successful in avoiding fast food. This is going to be my cryptonite...

Two weeks left to play!  Plenty of time to jump back into the game.

Have you tried one of those zombie run/C25K programs?  They alternative running and walking.  When I first tried it I would walk during the walk and then walk a tiny bit faster during the run :)  It took me a long time to work my way up to a jog.  still not "running" during the run but I can say that my jogging has vastly improved.

I love your 25 somethings idea!  Do you do it first thing in the morning?  It seems like it'd be a good way to start the day.  I do 2 chin ups, 5 push ups and 15 squats every morning.  That makes me sound stronger than I am.  My chin ups are jumping up over the bar and holding the chin up for a couple seconds and repeat.  push ups are elevated on a bench.  squats are good.  It's the daily practice I think that is important.  You could do something similar maybe if 25 is too hard to complete and you find yourself doing the same move every day.  mix it up maybe like 10 push ups, 5 sit ups, 10 squats or whatever equals 25 moves total.

As for the fast food the way I conquered it was to ban the drive thru.  If I wanted it I had to park and go in and eat there.  Usually it just wasn't worth the hassle if I wasn't going through the drive thru.  My second rule was no soda at a fast food place.  only food and if I was thirsty I could have water.  For me I found that it was really the soda I wanted and not so much the food so those two rules pretty much killed it for me.  I still go to fast food place sometimes but now I'm going to panera or chipotle instead of mcdonalds.  no drive thru temptation, healthier options and of course, still no soda.  Maybe one of those ideas would work for you.

Keep us posted!

I used the Zombies, Run! 5K training program to work my way up and actually did ran in 5 events.  I've given it up this year due to back issues, but I do like to break into a jog every now and then, because I know that I can. ^_^
