CJ the (Soon-to-be) Mighty Does a Little Bit More

Recap for Oct. 14

No lifting, it was a planned rest.

I had a salad with lunch so I got in my vegetables.

It wasn't a work night, so I stayed up late watching HBO's West World.  I highly recommend it.

I did get the kitchen cleaned.

Recap for Oct. 16

I got more lifting in with bench presses and overhead press being the focus.

I got my vegetables in with some Jews Mallow - not an ethnic slur, but a spinach-like green that my wife stews with rice and chicken.  It is really good, especially with vinegar.

I picked up the living area portion of the basement, so the house was taken care of.

I got to bed on time, barely.

Recap for Oct. 17

It was a cardio day, so no lifting.

There were no vegetables on Monday.

There was also no cleaning.

I did get to bed on time, so it wasn't the most productive of days.

Recap for Oct. 18

I got my lifting in Tuesday with some Overhead Presses and Barbell Rows.  It felt good.

I had my vegetables with a salad at lunch.

I got to bed early and had a pretty good night's sleep.

Sadly, no housework was done.  My wife has a really sore back and I had to go to the store to  get her some icy hot and Tylenonl as well as helping her stretch it out.

Recap for Oct. 19

I got my lifting in with some dead lifts and rows.  The rows were pretty easy, but I am really struggling with my grip on dead lifts, especially the last rep or two in each set.

I didn't really get anything else accomplished for my challenge, so I have to get back to it today.

Challenge Recap

Things that I have learned this challenge:

  • I enjoy working out 4 days per week.
  • I do not enjoy heavy squats and dead lifts in the same workout so I will have to give up on the Candito program.  I think I am going to try GZCL next.
  • I can eat salads every day and not get bored.
  • Spinach is pretty good.
  • Cutting off electronics at a certain time makes it easier to go to bed.
  • My wife likes it when I do housework every day

I do okay with this as long as one of them is treated like accessory and doesn't involve any AMRAPs or PRs. I think I would feel the same way otherwise, though. Interested to hear what you think of GZCL in the future!

YAY learning things~
