Hi, everyone! My name is QengpuBenal, but you can call me Stephanie. I am married with three kids. I work full time as a school psychologist, and part time as a package handler at FedEx (gotta make the payments on my new gaming rig somehow)! I've spent a lot of time here as a Scout, but I'm interested in adding more weight training so I'm joining the Rangers! I've been out of the game for about six months, and I'm hoping that this challenge will see me getting back on top of things!

Goal One: Utilize my Nerd Fitness Academy membership. I must go on to the Academy website at least once a day and do something (read an article, complete a quest, work on a quest, etc...).

26-28 days = A

20-25 days = B

15-19 days = C

10-14 days = D

<10 days = F

BONUS: 6 Days During Week 0 = 5 bonus points!

Goal Two: Walk every day. Even if it's just a quick walk around the block.

26-28 days = A

20-25 days = B

15-19 days = C

10-14 days = D

<10 days = F

BONUS: 6 Days During Week 0 = 5 bonus points!

Goal Three: Strength training at least 3 days a week:

4 weeks = A

3 weeks = B

2 weeks = C

1 week = D

0 weeks = F

BONUS: 0 Week = 5 bonus points!

Goal Four: Start learning German and sign language (German so I can talk to my oma and sign language so I can talk with my co-workers). I must practice each language for at least 10 minutes every day.

26-28 days = A

20-25 days = B

15-19 days = C

10-14 days = D

<10 days = F

BONUS: 6 Days During Week 0 = 5 bonus points!

Bonus Quest: Play my Sims 2 game every day and post an update on Saturday.

26-28 days + 4 updates = A

20-25 days + 3 updates = B

15-19 days + 2 updates = C

10-14 days + 1 update = D

<10 days + 0 updates = F

BONUS: 6 Days During Week 0 + 1 additional update = 5 bonus points!

Bonus points will not be happening this challenge. I have come down with a wicked head cold. Between the stuffy head, runny nose, scratchy throat, and general feeling of miserableness, I'll be lucky to drag myself into work. Hopefully it'll have run its course by the time the challenge starts for real!

If u want some help from a real german, then I can help. :D

Thanks! I may take you up on that in the future! Right now, I'm just trying to get the basics down! I have some software, but it's not as good as I had hoped it was going to be. I think I'm going to try my other program and see how that does.

Feel better. And honestly, zero week is the best time to get sick! Rest up and get strong :-)

Thank you! I\m definitely glad this happened in zero week and not during the regular challenge! Hopefully I'll have kicked it's butt by the time the challenge starts!

What software do you use? I'm curious. I learn japanese and swedish at the moment.

I was using Instant Immersion, but I'm definitely thinking about switching to Duolingo. I've used Duolingo in the past, and I really like it. For the ASL stuff, I just use what I can find for free online.

Week One, Day One

Goal One: Read a page on NF Academy and added info to my character.

Goal Two: Walked to the gas station and back.

Goal Three: Did not do strength training (scheduled for Monday, Wednesday, and Friday).

Goal Four: Did German on Duolingo. Ran through the ASL alphabet via video.

Goal Five: Played The Sims 2 for a bit.

Overall, today was a good day. I made 6 casseroles, which means that I have dinners ready for the entire week. I got all my goals done, and I relaxed in a bath with a yummy glass of wine.

Hey QengpuBenal,

Great start to your challenge. I love your goals for a couple of reasons:

1. I also need to actually start using the NF Academy I bought.

2. I am also trying to learn German, albeit with less of a plan than you, so I will be following along to see how to do it properly.

And...work blew up! Not literally, but I have had so much going on and so many extra things added to my plate. This has been absolutely insane!

On the plus side, last week my wife decided that she needs to get healthier as well. So, I now have an IRL partner to help keep me on track!

With that being said, I have redone my goals to make them more manageable for the remainder of this challenge. You can find them at the top of the thread.

That's ok...the work week can get a little out of control. Hopefully you were able to catch up and/or rest up over the weekend! Great new that your wife is willing to join in. Do you think you will exercise together?

We plan to walk together, although today we walked separately since I have to go work the volleyball game tonight.

I have not been doing so good on the walking. It's really been a combination of things. I've had a cold. I think I have an ear infection. The weather has consisted mainly of driving rain and wind recently. All of that adds up to a distinct lack of walking. I am hoping to be able to pick it back up soon. I was originally planning to take Saturdays off, but I think that will change in order to get an extra walk or two in.

So, this whole storm thing has been really kicking my butt. It's a double whammy, because I hate walking in the rain, and the gloomy weather makes me not want to do anything else either. It's a new week, though, and I'm going to try and power through the wet to make this week a perfect one!

I don't blame you for not wanting to walk in miserable weather.

Some people find it helpful to have a "placeholder" workout. Just something small you can do to help yourself keep the habit of exercising.  Even 10 minutes of stretching and bodyweight exercises (or whatever...yoga, weights, whatever you have available to you) would make you feel better...less guilty about missing the walk, plus gets your body moving, plus keeps the momentum going.
