Yeah, no. That wasn't working.

If you've been with me from ZERO WEEK! that means you probably didn't go to camp. Me neither. Don't worry, we have next year!!! Not as exciting, but what hapenned here last week included:

1. Declaration of simply keeping on with the phul program
2. Viking fish funeral
3. Massive depression as program burnout became evident

Sooooooo I'm starting over. Seeing that keeping on title just gave me the sads. Also, since this thread is TLDR already. This is the point where I switched gears AKA massively burned out last week.

This week is no training while my body recovers. (Shoulder is still wonky but getting better.) I will continue hiking with the ranger mini since it's gentle and happy making, but I do want to feel better for Saturday - I have a day of training with my Kung Fu students and brothers.

I am considering which programs to move forward with, any and all suggestions and thoughts are welcome! Do I go back to stronglifts even though I kind of hated it? Move on to 5-3-1 or Texas? Simply take a 3 day split, one day per lift plus accessories? What is sure is that I want less hours and days in the gym while still improving strength, and more energy and time for:

1. Tumbling/parkour type stuff
2. Climbing
3. Hiking
4. Kung Fu
5. Yoga

Yes, I do all of the things... there, I said it, my secret is out. (I'm probably a rebel in a warrior disguise, prepare the trebuchet!) Noooo I don't do all the stuff all the time, but one or another has been a primary focus at some point in my life - lifting since I started here. It's time to start working out how things can work together, and I guess that's what this challenge is going to have to be about now, doing the stuff while still lifting and getting stronger.

Here are things I need to accomplish:

1. Tour and try at least one of the 2 playground gyms I found

2. Mingle with cross discipline nerds, spread out. Find out how they incorporate their stuff

3. Play. Do some of the activities I've been jonesing for, see what feels like a priority

4. Go back and lift on Monday, shoulder permitting. See how it feels.

5. All the things from my original challenge (below)

I skipped the points system the last few challenges because it was getting annoying and cumbersome, but I've decided to reintroduce a revised version for the sake of incentives! (Read: I wants the swag :P

STUDY

h3YF6OYm.jpg

This is my top priority. It's been going well with some passes on show days. The show closes this coming Saturday so that's the end of that crazy schedule! One of the things I'm concerned about is the exercise science sections which will require a lot of memorization and understanding of movement and anatomy. I'm planning on combining fine art stuff with my study to help cement it into my head (I'm a visual learner for sure), and hopefully get a neat art series out of it! I've done stuff like that before, mostly for dance, but I think it will be both helpful and interesting. I will post for accountability once I get to that.

10 points for every aced test

5 points for every finished chapter

1 point for every day of solid 2+ hours of concentrated study

EAT

gSnMyOB.png?1

Continue the program with caveat: try not to track as much. See if I can get to a point where I'm eating enough without going crazy, and actually not tracking! At some point I want to be more lax about tracking, but priority is def getting enough. It's a balancing act, work towards it.

1 point for every day successfully retroactively tracked (AKA - where I'm not tracking all day and still eating responsibly,  tracked at end of day for confirmation.)

WATER

7YjRDyDm.png?1

Back to basics! I'm down on my consumption. Drink the damn water, track it on plant nanny. Don't let the plants die.

1 point for every pint consumed before 10am

FLIP THE SCRIPT

3xf3jmvm.png

Several folks from the theater expressed interest in a climbing party, so that would be a great way to stay in touch and explore the climbey gym nearby. (This is different from the playground gyms that are not nearby, but also have parkour gear and ninja type obstacle courses.)

5 points for pulling off a climbing party.

LIVE IN A GROWNUP HOUSE

2HeiRD5m.jpg

I have 3 main areas that need work.

1: My studio has gone to shambles. It's been a terrible mess for at least 6 months and a lot of it has to do with the materials I have lying around from the old painting job that is no more. I also have a very messy area involving donation clothing (mostly my mom's from when she moved last year - don't ask me how I ended up with it!) So that needs to be handled as well.

2: The office is only half cleaned up from the last challenge! I started, I got a nice office chair, there are piles of organized papers and such that just need to be put away. I have to get this done, and a sidebar of this is to PAY MY OVERDUE MEDICAL BILLS that for some reason seem to remain tardy. There is some confusion causing the hesitation - ie: I thought these were already paid. Some investigation needs to go into this before it goes on much longer.

5 points for finalizing medical bills

1 point for every 2 hour block spent cleaning the studio

15 points for cleaning the studio

ZERO WEEEEEEEK!!!!!!!!!

Alright zero week, let's do this!

CfOOIhRl.jpg?1

So it seems appropriate that Zero Week is when the show ends. I'm told to expect a sense of loss that I already felt last week when I suddenly had several days between going to the theater rather than being there every day. It'll be nice to have a mental reset of sorts, especially since I'm in the middle of a cycle that I can't really start anew.

On top of thinking about squat details, it makes sense to let this week reflect the idea of relaxing more into my eating right. There's celebration food around every corner, what with my parents coming up over this past weekend, birfday mish, and cast party stuff this weekend. I'm not using it as an excuse to eat like an asshole, but also letting the cards fall where they may during certain events. I did not track yesterday or today, and will start again tomorrow... just trying to be a little more relaxed overall about the whole thing and enjoying the fun stuff like friends and lifting and parties and all that, while also being a responsible fitnesser.

Zero Week Mini Challenges:

1: Plant the deck stuff - Reward: a pretty deck ;)

2: Finish next section of ACE studies - Reward: Skull Latch hook

3: Finish Cleaning the office & pay off bills - Reward: Enchanted Forest coloring book

ZERO WEEK!!!

OKAY! Zero Week challenge updated and things have been lifted. I almost put it off for tomorrow cause hangover and giant birthday sammich, but I made it in and it felt pretty good despite being super late and in the thick of the post work gym crowd. Here we go:

~Bench~

5/45#

5/65#

4X5/85#

~Incline Press~

4X10/20#

~Reverse Grip Bent Rows~

4X5/75#

~Lat Pulldown~

4X10/65#

~OHP~

8/30#

2X8/45#

~DB Incline Curls~

2/15# F on 3

3X10/10#

~Dips~

3X6

~2 Hand Tri Extension~

10/15#

2X10/20#

~Leg Raises~

2X15

1X12 F on 13

So I swapped out my BB curls for DB because my left side is obviously weaker than my right. I can see it in pretty much everything, (including the mirror), so I'll keep the preacher curls on hyper days and see about working those biceps and triceps individually with DBs as well. (I actually swapped out the DB curls for preacher because I wanted to experiment with them, so this is sort of just fine tuning the switch lol)

OHP felt surprisingly solid this week, so i'm thinking all the shoulder stuff is starting to pay off (must be those 2 Arnold presses I did that one time...) either way, it's nice to feel something happening there even if it's nominal :)

In life news, super husband set up a pirate themed scavenger hunt this morning, starting with an eye patch laden Spike :D Booty recovered includes massage stuff and go out and buy some damn clothes stuff! Also dinner at the Culinary Institute next week so that's awesome! Super husband strikes again!

It sounds like your Bday is pretty sweet :D

Good job on those lifts and I hope you see some good balance with those DBs.

p.s I love this pic:

Thanks! I hope so, I'm not really sure how to approach the imbalances other than making sure there is no compensation. Hopefully that will be a good jumping off point!

And really wow, I am a terrible pirate... I know I have some eye patches somewhere, but... where?!?!
