I've always read that it's best to keep the same program and just know it's not going to go as well, but I dunno how well that takes into account proper recovery to avoid injury, so, if you figure out the best way to handle gyminess with it, I look forward to hearing! Yeah...I feel like I am being a whiny-butt about the whole thing. DOMS are okay - they just took me by surprise! 1 hour ago, Urgan said: Cutting sucks eggs. Ugh. I have the problem of having to work to eat enough to keep up with my physical activity, so from that experience if you're eating at deficit you're more in a strength maintenance/fewer exercises (i.e., accessories are not your friend right now) realm--not that I mean to discourage efforts to pursue gains, it just can be tricky unless you have nutrition dialed in for your individual needs, you know? Which would explain why the 160 squats are now giving you DOMS vs your July 210 for reps not. Your priority seems to be the cut, so I echo the (relatively) high protein sentiments of @Alanna, whenever you get to a place where that is feasible. It'll help with the DOMS (recovery) and is energy intensive to digest, so it's a win-win. As for the weird weight fluctuations, I'd check average sodium week to week to see if that doesn't align with what your weight's doing--that's the only data you might have at your disposal to explain it. If it isn't sodium, then...yeah, bodies do their own thing sometimes with the hormones and stuff, can't be helped. Otherwise, all I got is keep doing your very best to ride this cut to your body composition goals, knowing that most of the odd DOMS stuff is just part of the ride--you're doing really well, so I see nothing standing in your way~ Priority is the cut for the remainder of the year. I spent the first half of 2016 pursuing GAINZ, and the plan right now is 1780 daily calories until Nov 20, then add in 100 daily calories each week until I hit maintenance. Then reassess priorities/focus in January. This is the longest that I have stuck with tracking calories, and it is getting easier, so I am hopeful that this plan is A.) sustainable, B.) productive, and C.) gainz-saving. I had thought to add back in accessories in the next few weeks, but may do so more slowly than I had anticipated. 1 hour ago, Broba Fett said: I had to reset my squats because of a major form issue this week and my coacn only let me back up to 160. 3x3x160 slowly with good form tore me up more than my 275-315 squats ever did. Perhaps it's something similar? My immediate thought was to say, "No." But since my form is changing as the belly shrinks, it is very possible that my form is changing even more than I think and stressing muscles differently. Hmmm...may be time for some more video. 50 minutes ago, Alanna said: *Hug* I'm glad this is a safe space for you -- just want to make sure it stays that way! 6 Quote ~Emerald_Dragonfly Level 13 Warrior Link to comment

I was totally going to recommend something like this, but I'm super glad you already thought of it. It's definitely easier/healthier to cut for 1-3 months and then maintain for that same period and then cut again. I think that I picked this up after stalking reading Waldo's advice over in the weight loss section. Having an end date in mind means that the caloric restriction eases even if I haven't lost all of the necessary fat. Fingers crossed that maintenance is 7000 a reasonable amount of calories. So I pretty much just said "eff it" on the gym for today. We made tremendous progress on the Training Studio this weekend - we just need to trim the floor before putting the weights and stuff in, so I just could not motivate myself to go into the pay gym today. I need to go tomorrow, though, and OHP & DL. My bar is scheduled to arrive tomorrow, also - the temptation to just lift an empty bar in my living room is high. How many empty bar deadlifts equal 3 at 195 lbs? Probably a lot, huh. 7 Quote ~Emerald_Dragonfly Level 13 Warrior Link to comment

The cushion at the one at the pay gym was squashed down, making it closer to the floor. Mine is new, with intact cushioning, so about 2 inches taller - this made a tremendous difference.
