Myrik and the swirling mist

Myrik

Recommended Posts

Knowing the evil that has tainted his body will not give up its hold easily, Myrik decided to change his focus.  He reached into the soft bag containing the focus stones to grab the power stone.  His hand barely brushed the stone when he felt a surge of power run up his arm and into his chest.  He grabbed the stone and held it in his open hand, then watched as a red mist swirled inside the stone.  The mist formed various figures engaged in power building activities.  Myrik decided to focus on these power building techniques during the coming weeks.

Goal I

Power

This month I will be focusing on power.  I found a  website with great Plyometric exercises and will be adding 2 of the beginner ones to each workout.

Goal II

Meditation

I will continue doing the 2 a week meditation with one caveat it must be 10 minutes or longer to count.

Goal III

Body comp tracking

I will continue to track my body comp using @Hazard spread sheet formula.  The only Caveat with this is I can't do it 100% while on leave.  I have my tape so i will at at least measure my waist daily.

This challenge I will forgo the Alphabet grading in favor of points and rewards the points break down will be as follows:

Goal I

10 points per work out with 2 beginner power build exercises

5 points per work out with 1 beginner power build exercises

An extra 5 points per 2 intermediate power build exercises

An extra 10 points per 2 advanced power build exercises

Goal II

10 points per 10 minutes of meditation with no half value for anything less, this will be an all or nothing.  Anything over 10 minutes will be in 5 minute increments for 2 points per extra 5 minutes.

Goal III

All or nothing on this I will score 20 points a week for maintaining my tracking log.

Rewards:

300 points earns one nerdy reward

350 points earns one nerdy reward plus one fitness reward

400 points earns two nerdy rewards plus one fitness reward

450 points earns two nerdy rewards  plus two fitness rewards

Thursday 22SEP

Power work

Beginner

Plyo Push-Up - 5

Squat Thrusters - 5

Plyo Lateral Lunge - 10 (5 each direction)

Intermediate

Alternating Lunge Jumps - 10

Tuck Jumps - 6 (these where very hard after the lunge jumps)

Bodyweight Squat - 10/10/10

Divebomber Pushup - 5/5/5

ring rows. - 10/10/10

Hanging Leg Raise - 10/10

I did a 10 minute meditation after my workout but it wasn't the best quality because i pushed my self harder than normal and feel a little nauseous.

Points for today are only bonus points due to it being Zero week and i dont want to over inflate my points so I get 5 bonus points for the 2 advanced power exercises.  If i meditate again tomorrow that will grant me an extra 10 points for Zero week due to being 3 in a row.

Point total: 5/300

Well I'll tell you this my body is sore today. Almost as sore as when I first started working out. Which is a good thing right [emoji1]

It's not pain; it's experience points.

I can't congratulate, because you're in the wrong team...

Cool! What is it like? Do they tell you "Run a block at max effort, then walk until the next traffic light" or something like that?

The impediment to action advances action. What stands in the way becomes the way.

It depends on how you have it set up.  It is manly a story that has some zombie chases mixed into it.  During the story you will hear someone tell you zombie warning or something like that and that you need to pick up the pace or you will get caught.  I really enjoyed it.  I need to go run again tonight.

Vacation was great got to spend time with old friends from High School and it was as if no time has passed and we picked up right where we left off.

My friends, Wife and I got to go out and play pool while the Grandparents babysat, much needed time out.

Now that I am home time to get back into the daily measurements.

So I didn't get around to posting this yesterday.

Did my second Zombies, Run! mission yesterday while running on an elliptical first then a treadmill after I discovered the Ellipticals in the base gym don't show speed or distance just strides.  I took me long than I would like to admit to discover this, I was almost half way through the run.  Switch to the Treadmill and ran the remaining 25 minutes of the 37 minute mission at a average speed of 3.3 MPH due mainly to my knee acting up.  I am looking forward to the ZVR this month and hoping my knee doesn't bug me during the race.   One thing about the race I cant figure out is how to access the training missions that it mentions on the race page.

Welcome back from vacation - glad you got down time and could pick things back up with your friends. That sense of no time having passed is so cool to experience. Good luck with the 12-hour work shifts!

Did some more writing this morning.  Ill post the whole story so far with the new section italicized.

A Six foot shadow slipped through the back alleys of Neo Tokyo.  Myrik was on the hunt, his mark Akio a wealthy business man know for swindling widows of the Cyber war, out of their husband’s life insurance.  Normally Myrik doesn’t work pro bono, but for this piece of filth he made an exception.  Myrik followed him for several blocks before Akio slipped into a Tea parlor.  Myrik removes his hood before entering the Parlor.  Once inside he takes a quick stock of the people in the parlor and locates Akio slipping into a booth in the corner.  Now all he had to do was wait and find a way to slip the potent neurotoxin into the man's drink.  While developing his plan he notices the serving girl is quite clumsy and decides to use that to his advantage.  He waits for the girl to come from the back with Akio's tea and gets up heading towards the restroom and bumps into the girls but catches the tea cups and quickly slipping the toxin into the drink before handing it back to the girl, apologizing for being so clumsy.  Myrik heads into the restroom to wash his hands before returning to his seat.  While washing the toxin from his fingers tips he begins to feel an all too familiar feeling.  He knew he was about to jump again.  Who knows where or when he will wind up this time.

Myrik regains consciousness only to be assaulted by the foul smell of death and the sound of an unfamiliar bestial language.  Myrik slowly moves his hand to check for the hilt of Citipati, his dual bladed weapon of choice.  To his relief it survived the jump this time.  Slowly opening on eye to look around he is met with several black faceless figures standing around him chattering.  Myrik grips the handle of Citipati, coils his muscles and springs up lashing out with his blade cleanly severing the heads of 3 of the creatures and barely missing the last one.  After landing in a crouch and before the 4 creature could callout Myrik launches a throwing knife burying it to the hilt in head of the final creature.  After recovering his knife Myrik slips into the shadows and slowly starts exploring the creatures den.

Myrik slow crept out of the room he awoke in to discover a huge underground city, full of the black faceless creature scurrying about like ants in a hive.  Luckily for Myrik the city was well lit from torches and a large glowing stone in the center of the city.  Myrik kept to the shadows and watched looking for a way out.  As the hours passed he noticed the light coming from the stone seemed to shift as if it was drawing in light from another source above ground.  The dimmer the light from the stone got the brighter the torches got as if they responded to the ambient light.  As the last glow of the amber light disappeared from the stone, Myrik noticed a large group of the creatures heading out a tunnel carrying weapons that appeared to be made of black glass and a few small torches to light their way.  Myrik assumed this group was a hunting or raiding party and decided his best bet to get out of the city was to follow the party.

As Myrik starts to make his way into the city of the creatures he quickly learns that the city is like one big maze.  After running into his 5th dead end he decides to take to the roof tops.  Getting a running start he vaults off the 3 walls forming the dead end and grabs hold of the lip of the roof approximately 25 feet off the ground.  Once on the rooftop Myrik gets his bearings using the now dark stone in the middle of the city and finds the tunnel the creatures left through.  Making his way across the roofs was quick and easy.  Myrik soon finds himself at the mouth of the upward sloping tunnel.  About 15 steps into the tunnel and Myrik is engulfed in pitch black.

Myrik reaches into one of the hidden pockets of a leather jerkin and plus out a small vial of viscous liquid giving it a sharp shake it starts to glow a very faint red that gives Myrik’s trained eyes just enough light to navigate the smooth stone tunnel.  Starting off down the tunnel at a slow jog Myrik soon reaches a fork in the tunnel, the left side darker than the current tunnel and has a slight downwards sloop.  The right tunnel continued the upwards slop and appeared to start to lighten about 40 paces in.  Myrik starts down the right tunnel slowly only to discover it opens into a large workshop area with several of the creatures gathered around forges and benches making more of the weapons he saw the party carrying.  Making his way slowly back to the fork he goes down the left tunnel which makes a sharp turn and opens up to the night sky.

The first thing Myrik notices about the night sky is green and purple ribbons that weave their way across the sky, the second thing he notices is the distinct lack of stars.   Looking around Myrik takes note that the cave he came out of is in the side of a small hill with, no trees, bushes or even boulders nothing for at least 500 yards.  Climbing up the hill to get a better look at his surroundings he sighted the other half of the large crystal the illuminated the city below.  The crystal towering 100’s of feet into the sky its surface smooth and unmarred.  To the east of the crystal Myrik sees several dim lights coming from among the trees.  To the north he sees the outline of a castle, to the south nothing but barren lands and the west towering mountains.  Myrik decides the best course of action is to head towards the lights in the trees.
