For once, I'm keeping things short and sweet.  I need to focus a lot more on being more organized with my life and being more efficient with my time, and a lot less on chasing shiny things.  Of course, I'll still be posting about parkour and my normal stuff, and I'll still be eating right + exercising.  I just don't want to make that a huge focus.

 

Goal 1: The morning routine - Each morning, right after sending the kids to school, I will complete the following morning routine before letting myself get distracted by other things:

-Brief (or longer, if I feel like it) yoga flow

-Take care of any dishes or laundry that need to be done

-make the daily to-do list

 

Goal 2: The To-Do list: Each Monday, I will make a List of the things I'd like to accomplish that week.  Also, every day during my morning routine, I will make a list of things I want to accomplish that day.  This list will hopefully keep me focused on the important things.

 

Goal 3: Decluttering and purging:  Each day, I will declutter some area in the house and throw away as much as I possibly can.  I have too much random junk, and the only way to bring a bit of order to the house is to start throwing things away and stop decluttering by relocating things from one part of the house to another.  

 

Goal 4: Coding and piano - Each day, get at least something accomplished or spend some time with each of these.  No slacking and no excuses.

 

Goal 5: Batch cooking or complicated cooking project - At least twice/week.  This should ensure that I'll have healthy food without necessarily requiring a huge time expenditure per meal.  

 

Goal 6: Stay connected - I've been feeling a bit less connected to NF over the last many months, so I'm going to make a huge point of posting at least every day in my thread, and posting in at least 3 other people's threads each day.  I'm also going to try to stick with the mini challenge and any PVPs people post.

I'm kicking off the challenge with a fairly simple day.  My agenda simply is:

-PARKOUR!!!

-working on kids' halloween costumes

-a bit of cleaning/decluttering

 

Tomorrow, things should intensify with a full morning routine, to-do list, and all of that.

So far, things are going well.  Parkour yesterday was great.  We spent a lot of time on wall climb ups as well as cat dynos, which was great since I find both moves a lot of fun, and they're very upper body intensive!

 

Today was my first attempt at the morning routine, and it all went well.  I managed to make all of my to-do lists, which really should help guide me with efficient use of my time.  I also folded and put away laundry, finished dishes, cleaned the kitchen, and did a 10 minute yoga flow.  Often, when 9:00 am rolls around, I feel like I haven't really managed to accomplish anything at all, so it's refreshing to start the day off by completing so much!

 

Workout-wise, today will just be a very long pokemon walk.  It's supposed to rain all week, with today being the only dry day.  I need to capitalize on that when I can, and then just do a lot more yoga and strength work during the rest of the week.

I'm impressed. If I did that much in the morning I'd just be right, now I've earned my nap time. :P

Man I love this layout Nym!  

 

I've also struggled with the feeling connected part of it.    I think for me it's been one part chaotic life, and one part not putting in the effort.   When I look back at past challenges where I kicked ass, I had a lot more interaction on NF.    And!  I'm tackling it much the same way as you... get a routine (daily and weekly) so I set time aside for these things.  (And it includes a to do list.)

I was planning on replying to a bunch of people, but my afternoon plans have now been derailed. 

 

So far, the list making is really helping me stay focused and productive.  I've managed to accomplish so much in the last two days.  I did have to adjust the morning routine a little, in that on days in which I plan on doing a much longer yoga session, I can instead substitute taking a walk for the yoga in the routine.  

 

Yesterday, I made a batch of egg muffins to complete one of my batch cooking tasks for the week.  Both days, I decluttered, purged, programmed (a lot), and played the piano.  Today, I additionally did 30 minutes of yoga (including a lot of arm balances), followed by push ups, wall sits, calf raises, and pull ups.  

 

The monkey wrench in my plans was that the school sent my daughter home early with a fever.  She just seems to have a cold with a low grade fever, so I'm hopeful that this won't be too bad.  But, the last several times she's been sick, it's ended up being a 4+ day affair each time.  So, I lost out on a couple hours of productive time, and I'm unlikely to get anything else accomplished today. :(

It's a really good thing you were productive with your time before she got sent home. Imagine if you had procrastinated, intending to get stuff done during the time block when she was there with you.

I still owe a bunch of people some replies, but I'm not sure if it's going to happen.  My daughter seems to have a lingering cold with a low grade fever.  So, I sent her to school today, but I've been paranoid that they'll be calling and sending her back home.  I'm having a hard time focusing, and I've left my to-do list pretty sparse today.  If she lasts through the full day of school, I'm sure I'll be more relaxed about tomorrow.
