You're handling week 1. Good job on getting out for the run. I intentionally never look at my run times -- but I'm still at the point with running where it's just pass/fail: I RAN SOME, YAY.

it IS the most golf. I am the most golf. although - I was considering putting one of my swords into the golf bag just for fun, because what if I get bored after a few holes? oh heck, I should throw in a rubber chicken too, just in case.

normally the guilt is overwhelming for me NOT showing up! but thsi time I managed to sort it out, thank goodness, and it didn't wreck my dinner plans.

THURSDAY man. that was a busy day. I did end up at TKD, and that was good. Thirteen also wanted to quit TKD but I told him it wasn't a decision to make via text message, and recommended he go with me and then we could talk later. After class he was like: you're right, I really enjoyed it. oh, to have infinite interests. OH WAIT THAT'S ME TOO.

 

FRIDAY IS TODAY.

my hip! it hurts so bad! it's the left hip only, but I'm sure it's because of running up and down that hill. I took a bunch of naproxin and brought the heating pad to work with me today. it's feeling much better than it was, but. ow.

I did go out and run for 2 miles (slowly) today, and it didn't hurt while I was running. it's the muscle that lifts your leg up, if that makes sense.

 

tonight I'm meeting a friend for korean food and braving nyc transit after the train crash. it'll be ok, just maybe slower and more inconvenient. no big.

I totally PRed on the 10K today. 57:29 accd to my watch, and 3rd in age group!!!

it's a term that I'm realizing I've made up, to kind of summarize my impression that our bodies are so infinitely adaptable that if you do one kind of exercise all the time, your body will adapt to it, and you'll stop seeing gainz - however that looks to you, in either muscle building, or specifically for cardio - you will stop burning as many calories as you first did. I am honestly not sure if this has any science behind it, and it might just be my observation. but, I personally have never *lost weight* without frequently mixing up my activities. Now that I'm at a place where I'm kind of chasing performance but also am secretly hoping my stomach will just melt away (seriously I'm so close, but at the point where I'll need to really double down on diet to get to the next plateau, I think) - it's a really hard balance to figure out how to do the cardio things that will improve my running performance PLUS find time to mix in the muscle focus that I am pretty sure I need to do in order to simultaneously slim down.

Thanks everyone!!!

The rest of the weekend was also great. I had dojo sat, and we didn't do the demo BC of fears of slipping in a wet rainy stage so we had full boxing and the weapons class. There's two very young black belts who are now joining us so the instructor is going in to much greater detail than he did with me, ha. (I'm great at "keeping up," but you do miss some details that way.)

After class sat. Afternoon called for a bath and a book, and my thigh muscle really appreciated the rest and the soak.

Sunday was the 10k and after that I had a knitting party / tasting party. Ate a bunch of junky snacks, don't regret it. Was over on calories despite the running but eh. Sunday.

Monday I had a rest day! And ate a bunch. I was starving all day. I worked super late and missed dinner, too.

This morning I got up and reluctantly ran 3 miles. Fast, but not as fast as race day fast. Tonight at TKD was a big workout - one on one w my head instructor, so lots of fast forms, kicking practice, and sparring for the first 1/2 of class. I'm home now and starving but so tired. Ugh. Some one bring me a sandwich please.
