Yesterday's WOD...

STRENGTH

Bench Press

Build to 6RM, 3RM

1 x 6 (235#)  PR

1 x 3 (255#)  Might be a PR.

 

CONDITIONING

AMRAP in 12:00 of:

6 Dumbbell Power Snatches (70#)

9 C2B Pull-ups

12 Burpees

200m Run

* Finished 3 rounds + 12 reps at Rx level.  Gross, gross, gross... at least it's getting colder out and we'll be done running for the year soon!

Used to think the same way, man.  But I'm just an exceedingly average dude who works his ass off in the gym.  Walk in, warm-up, work hard, strut out.  We still do a lot of chitchat in a box like mine, but I always strive to be the hardest working person in the gym.  When it's lift time, it isn't talk time.  I stick fuck up and make mistakes with my lifestyle or diet, have shit days in the gym or whatever, but I always get back in there and go to work.

 

And I post too much on websites sometimes, yeah.

If you are having trouble eating enough, I have found the issue is usually a lack of planning and too little eating before mid afternoon.  For me, the key to getting my protein up was to make sure I had 50+g's of protein with breakfast.  I was consistently short at breakfast and eating 2lbs of chicken for dinner is not a reasonable solution both for the volume and the possible lost MPS from not getting a significant protein hit between 9pm and noon.

Let it be stated that I have never before had issues getting my food in.  I'm a human trash compactor.  It's just been a post-Camp emotional overload that is suppressing my appetite.  I'm having a much better day managing it so far, but I really need to figure out whether I'm sticking with this bulk or starting a lazy cut through to Christmas to lose the extra I noticed on the scale before the powerlifting meet.

As a Ranger who's succesfully infiltrated done challenges with both Druids and Monks, I'll go against the general vibe and say I'm with ya alternate self from a mirror universe brother Rurik.

After yesterday's gonzo conditioning sesh...

 

10 rounds for time of:
4 Strict Pull-ups
4 Dips
7 Strict HSPU
12 KB Snatches (55#)

 * of which I finished exactly 9 rounds in the 30:00 time cap with only one torn callus to show for it.

 

...today was straight weightlifting, and it still went terribly.

 

High Hang Snatch + Mid Hang Snatch + Low Hang Snatch

 * worked up to 155# and then wanted to deadlift, or sleep.

Clean & Jerk - build up to a heavy 1RM

 * built up to 245# (current PR 255#) and then wanted to sleep, or deadlift.

 

This Warrior Fever is seriously crippling my chances at adequate performance for the CrossFit Open in January, guys.  :P

#DoAllTheThings recently became #LiftAllTheThings and I properly lay tribute at the Golden Hall of Warriors.  Also Gainsdalf's 555# deadlift knocked my socks off.  Major inspo there!

I know!  That might be where my grandmother found the nickname.  She was an angry Norwegian woman who thought was birth name was too boring and didn't suit the 'proper Viking bastard' I was as a child.  Ergo, Rurik in honor of the medieval Varangian ruler of Novgorod.  ;)

It hurts me to confess this, but I may have admitted to someone today that I am feeling burned out on CrossFit enough to seriously consider backing off on my WOD routine to supplement my workout week with more powerlifting seshes.  2x WOD, 3x PL sounds like a freaking dream after today's dodgy Oly lifts. 

 

This is seriously unusual territory for a CrossFit gym, especially one in so small a city as mine! 

 

Now to warm up that 20 Seconds of Courage to speak with my coach this weekend...

I feel you. Muay Thai has me missing all the crazy crossfit stuff and I doubt I'll be able to perform the way I'd like in the Open too.

Not really. I know both spezzy and chammy have been down that road. There's probably more warriors I'm missing. Then there's also Tia-Clair Toomey who got 2nd place in the '15 and '16 CF Games before representing Australia in the Rio Olympics weightlifting.

Note that *everybody* around here has the tireds from being at Camp.  I woke up late this morning.  Again.  But it is Friday.  Tomorrow I can wake up whenever I feel like waking up.  Sunday I am planning and "upgraded" rest day.

Not to brag (maybe a little), but I backed off on that attempt to make sure it was successful for the photo-op. I had 575 in me. Goal is to pull 600+ next year at a sub 240 bodyweight.

False. It causes us to giggle and lose our core tightness while we watch from the squat racks doing 405 squat singles. This happened Tuesday night.
