FamilyBeer
October 11, 2016 Stronglifts: "A" Routine Warmup: Static and dynamic stretching Static stretching was added because I thought that I had significant mobility issues but while I likely do have mobility issues, I don’t think they are as severe as I had thought so I’m going to move static stretching to the end as a cool down. I added them because Alan Thrall (YouTube) recommended that they go at the front. Back Squats: 5x5@80lb - completed: 6a, 4b, 5, 5, 5 (a=forgot how many reps I was supposed to be doing, b=correction for a) Nice and slow, back a bit sore from something I did on the weekend, Otherwise, felt good, increase by 5lb next time Bench press: 5x5@80lb - completed: 5, 5, 5, 5, 5 Good weight, increase by 5lb next time Bent Over Rows: 5x5@80lb - completed: 5, 5, 5, 5, 5 Stomach a bit sore, not sure why but wife is worse and taking day off work Weight was good but slightly uncomfortable because of stomach, will increase by 5lb next time anyway Comments Recovering from too much food this Canadian Thanksgiving weekend It was good to get out to the gym and stay with the routine Other exercise Cycing, 6.7km to work in 4C/39F temps, coldest day this fall, will cycle the 6.7km home later today in much warmer temperatures. 5 Quote Challenge Logs: Current Challenge 3 2 1 Battlelog Origin of Name: FN: Julian -> Jules -> Family Jewels -> Family LN: Rickards = Canadian brand of Beer -> Beer Call me "FamilyBeer" (or just Jules) Link to comment
FamilyBeer
Cycled to work today, 6.7km, will go home the same way and then I'm leading a community bike ride of about 17km this evening and then gym workout at about 10 tonight. Oh yeah, I probably have to put in some work today. 3 Quote Challenge Logs: Current Challenge 3 2 1 Battlelog Origin of Name: FN: Julian -> Jules -> Family Jewels -> Family LN: Rickards = Canadian brand of Beer -> Beer Call me "FamilyBeer" (or just Jules) Link to comment

I would rather not ride in the rain but sometimes, you can't avoid it. At least it was relatively light rain and not too cold, I hate cold rain, even hard cycling can't overcome the chill. A couple of weeks ago, I was on a charity ride and on the third day, we rode ~130km/80mi, and about half of the day was in rain, some of it was in a downpour but it was 22-23C/72-74F so it wasn't so bad and I was wearing a wool baselayer so I felt fine. However, we agreed not to have lunch on the road by the truck (cold sandwiches) and instead, stop at a restaurant for hot food. I pity the staff who had to wipe up the wet benches after we had finished. 1 Quote Challenge Logs: Current Challenge 3 2 1 Battlelog Origin of Name: FN: Julian -> Jules -> Family Jewels -> Family LN: Rickards = Canadian brand of Beer -> Beer Call me "FamilyBeer" (or just Jules) Link to comment

FamilyBeer
Another cool morning, 4C/39F, clear and no breeze or rain so a nice 11km bike ride in to work. Actually, I said that the sky was clear but it was hard to tell at 6:30am, being dark and all. Part of today's ride was along a 1km, unlit, dirt road that is adjacent to a lake on one side and a large wooded area on the other that essentially connects with forest south of the city. It was still dark at about 7:15 as I was riding along this road when in front of me, about 100m/yd away, I saw 2 or 3 large black objects at the side of the path. I start making noises because they could be bears (there have been a lot of them in the city this year) and they slowly move off the path into the woods. As I pass by where they were, I notice 2 of them on a side trail and one of them called out to me, "Good morning", oh, dog walkers and their dog, never mind. 2 Quote Challenge Logs: Current Challenge 3 2 1 Battlelog Origin of Name: FN: Julian -> Jules -> Family Jewels -> Family LN: Rickards = Canadian brand of Beer -> Beer Call me "FamilyBeer" (or just Jules) Link to comment

FamilyBeer
October 19, 2016 Stronglifts: "A" Routine Warmup: Dynamic stretches Back Squats: 5x5@90lb - completed: 5, 5, 5, 5, 5 I’ve changed the squat routine slightly as a result of a suggestion by @Gainsdalf the Whey to do them, not slowly with a pause at the bottom but 1 sec down/no pause/1 sec up/pause because that is more like what I need for improving strength for cycling. I’m still adapting to the change but it felt good. I’m feeling the increase in weight but I will still increase by 5lb next time Bench press: 5x5@90lb - completed: 5, 5, 5, 5, 5 Good weight, feels good, increase by 5lb next time Bent Over Rows: 5x5@90lb - completed: 5, 5, 5, 5, 5 I’m feeling it in the lats, it feels good to stress them Good lifts, increase by 5lb next time Cool down: Static stretches Comments Good workout, feeling the additional weight today Other exercise I got to the gym earlier today so I had some time to play with at the end. I went to the Gravitron (LOL, yes, that’s its name) to try out some assisted dips and pullups. The Gravitron has measured plates that you can set to whatever weight you want and it offsets your body weight by that amount so if you think you can do dips or pullups or chinups with only a 70lb load, you subtract 70 from your weight and set the plates to the difference. I also tried assisted pullups on the Smith machine using the technique that NF Steve and Staci showed in a recent video. I’m liking doing those so for the next challenge, I’m going to do one day/week of bodyweight exercises. 2 Quote Challenge Logs: Current Challenge 3 2 1 Battlelog Origin of Name: FN: Julian -> Jules -> Family Jewels -> Family LN: Rickards = Canadian brand of Beer -> Beer Call me "FamilyBeer" (or just Jules) Link to comment

FamilyBeer
Hi Followers: This will be my last post in this log as the challenge is over today and I'm not going to the gym today (although I might go for a bike ride). I probably won't participate in the next challenge as I will be making changes to my routines over the next couple of weeks and I don't want that to be part of my challenge. However, I will be posting to my Battlelog until the following challenge so if you wish to see what I'm doing, you're welcome to stop by there. Best of luck to all my Warrior friends, see you in a couple of challenges (if not beforehand). 2 Quote Challenge Logs: Current Challenge 3 2 1 Battlelog Origin of Name: FN: Julian -> Jules -> Family Jewels -> Family LN: Rickards = Canadian brand of Beer -> Beer Call me "FamilyBeer" (or just Jules) Link to comment
