The World Could Always Use More Heroes

Recommended Posts

Hey All,

Daniel aka Dragonmore here.  I joined Nerd Fitness about a year ago, but I have not been a very active member.  I started focusing on my diet out the gate and going more Paleo and have cut out some of the worst offenders (soda, bread, pasta).  It has helped, but the body-weight exercise focus this month (better known as Assassin Awareness Month) has pushed me over the edge and I want to be the Hero of my own story by getting into the best shape of my life and be a Jedi.

I like Anime (and speak Japanese too), and I am a die hard video gamer, and I could talk at length about games.  Best game of all time?  It's a tie between Crono Trigger and Final Fantasy VI (both on SNES of course).  Currently playing plenty of games including Overwatch (love tracer if you can't tell from the topic title) and several Alpha / Early Access type games such as the Best Damn Space Sim Evar!: Star Citizen.  Want to know more about it?  Let me know, as I love sharing info on games.  Already own it?  Shoot me a note, as I would love playing with more super cool people.

Back to the Fitness.  At time of writing this, I am 270 lbs and ~30% body fat, and I am ready for change.  My goal is to reach 15% body fat and be able to do handstand push ups (like Goku in DBZ) and a one handed handstand (like Luke in Empire Strikes Back).  I intend to do all exercises at home with little equipment cause while I have no fear of going to the gym, I feel like going to the gym is a waste of time and money when I can get a great workout at home with minimal equipment and using body-weight exercises.

I wanted to join the forums specifically cause poking around I found the community is awesome, and I would appreciate the support and need the encouragement and coaching to follow through with my goals.

So thanks all and look forward to getting fit with you all,

Dragonmore

I think the same. If you need inspiration for workouts, search for "Darebee".

Congrats to your decision to change something and welcome :D

Hey!

We are kinda in the same boat. Been lurking around and have a head start on reaching our goals, but just now joining the forums. Neat!

Assassins Awareness Month kinda slapped me in the face. I have been working out, but not as regularly as I should. I am viewing this month as "It's so damn easy you don't need anything but your body and 15 minutes, what are you making excuses for!?" awareness month lol

For the past 10 days I haven't missed a workout and have been pushing myself really hard. Still, I spend a lot of time on Overwatch, myself. Two days ago my fiance and I went out and bought an exercise bike. I use it while I play, don't even realize I'm exercising, and still get to play hours of Overwatch...but now I don't feel guilty :P Seriously, I even found that when I'm Mercy and desperately trying to stay alive and get away, I pedal harder like it's going to help me move. Then I laugh and get distracted and die. Oops...

(Not to mention, Tracer's booty is the best kind of motivation...I want that!)

I usually play Mercy, D.Va, Junkrat, or Pharah. I'll occasionally pull a Lucio if it's Ilios and no one else bites, or Reinhart if we just can't seem to push. I've even tried offensive Symmetra before - tricky, but it can be pulled off and awesome! Who do you like to play?

@ TalkDisney, (great name btw)

I have definitely considered the exercise bike thing for gaming, but I am worried it will be too distracted and cant focus on my game.  Maybe one while watching Netflix would be good.  Reading about pedaling harder to try and get away in-game just made me die laughing.  That was awesome!  You made my day.

I am getting back into workouts, and I alternate right now between body-weight day and then walking the next.

I really enjoy Reinhart and have most time on him by far, but I play a wide variety to try them out and try to fit the team comp to pull in the role we need, but i gravitate to Rein, DVA, Pharah, Mei, and Tracer (but dont get to play her often cause everyone wants to be a flanker, damn Genji mains).

But with the Halloween event going on, will be playing quite a bit over the next few weeks.  What is your battlenet ID?  We should total kill some zombie robots together.

Walking is the best! I am trying to get a lot in while the weather holds up, because once the snow flies it's exclusively treadmill walking and there's something about the treadmill that I just hate. I would rather be outside!!

i definitely wouldn't use the bike if I'm in competitive, but for quick play it's just fine for me! My psn is fancycupcake23 (I know, I know....) we can totally team up, get an exp boost, and earn some loot!! Of course I couldn't control myself and blasted through all my low levels after prestiging... lol oh well

Let's definitely play soon!
