Greetings fair Monks! I'm joining you this challenge as a wandering Warrior and look forward to getting to know everyone :D

Me: I am a proud hater of pants and devout lover of ZERO WEEK!

I've been using zero week as a time to hit the mental reset button, evaluate what I've been doing and what I want to do... but since my last challenge pretty much imploded out of the gate, (TLDR: physical & mental breakdown after a longish period of over training) the entire month basically became one long zero week, and I am super ready to just hit the ground running already! I took some time off, am working with a new coach who makes me feel safe and looked after, and am ready to start reintroducing some of the important things that have been missing from my life. Essentially, this challenge is an attempt to balance all the things without over doing.

I'm joining my martial arts brethren here because my burnout showed me that I've been training with too much FIRE and not enough WATER, (verboten from my coach Lou! Love it! LOU!) and I think that I really need to put a spotlight on my Ving Tsun Kung Fu practice that has been on a priority back burner since I moved almost 2 years ago, with a focus on recovery and mental centering.

So in the spirit of doing all the stuff, here are my cross guild goals! :onthego:

_____

Considering that thanksgiving is in the mix, as well as one travel weekend for a Kung Fu seminar, there may be some shuffling and missed sessions here and there, specifically for lifting since everything else is pretty much mobile. I'm not going to stress about that, and roll with it as it comes.

The only incentive I have in mind is a door frame pull up bar that I'd like to have around for stuff. I am absolutely not allowed to start pull up business (outside of Rx training with Lou) until I have completed an entire round of handstand training. So I guess that's it!!!

:D :D :D Looking forward to walking the road with you all! :D :D :D

My favorite goal is the sleep marathon, I need to enter one of those

There should be a virtual meet...

Agreed, can competitive sleeping be a thing? I would go pro if I could :P

I guess I'm not that surprised...

Osu! Nice to meet you! Welcome to the Monastery! We'll have this thing more set up as the week goes on, but I just wanted to drop in, say I liked all those goals, and that I'll be rooting for you!

Let's see, you do the Chun... I can't seem to tag the relevant party, but The Shogun also does the Chun. You two would get along, I think.

Hi, friend.

Btw, I would totally win the sleep marathon.

Oh hello there! :D

Seriously. If it didn't seem more appropriate to do these things spontaneously I would totally try to set up a meet LOL

Hrm, I'll be following along, but only if you upload completed coloring pages. Kthnx.

You couldn't stop me if you tried! Unless of course you know some really good image blocking coding and tried that. Then you could probably stop me.

Thank you for the welcome Kishi! :D I guess you could say I'm a little eager to start this go around ;) Looking forward to seeing everyone's goals!

Soooo... day one? Ish? I'm not sure I count Sunday.... So maybe... Zero day? ZERO DAY!!!

Not a tremendous amount to report. Rest day, slept in, (not a marathon to speak of) yoga flow first thing and noticed some major tension in the left ham from yesterday's session so I spent some time with the foam roller. Early afternoon the man took me to the far away grocery places but it was weekend crazy so not the relaxing culinary experience I prefer, but heyo.

Once I can drive again I am going to have AN ALL OUT CULINARY ROAD TRIP because I just decided that, and frankly, it's the best idea I've had all day :D There's an epic food market in Philadelphia (Reading Terminal - it's awesome!) and I can just pretend that I'm going to see my parents... and I guess see them too :P But that's February's problem. (Anyone wanna meet up?) Until then I'll get acquainted with our new pressure cooker, Instiana Jones, which I took for his first test drive tonight! Reviews? The green beans/potato/porcini mushroom recipe sucked. What a fail. The whole chicken that cooked in 30 minutes? DAMN THAT WAS GOOD. Fall off the bone. This is going to be a very useful tool once I learn the ins and outs. :D

I'm also excited for the new schedule to start tomorrow. I've kind of quietly decided that the library room upstairs is going to be the staging grounds for this challenge, as opposed to the dedicated Kung Fu space in the basement. I think this is because it's warm and relaxing with all the books around, but doesn't have any real distractions, where the training room has my equipment and weaponry that i'm trying to stay away from right now. Photos with warrior weekend ZERO WEEK swag will probably commence.

In other news I'm getting used to eating uncomfortable amounts of chicken, starting to level out at my current cal intake, feeling myself hoping the gain train and weighing out (yuck yuck) when I can add another 100 cals to the daily goal. Early November I think :)

Alright zero week, I'm ready for you <3

I'm exercising, because I want to get my stamina and strength. I enjoy medieevil swordmanship,  Tai Chi, yoga, aikido and fire spinning. I'm also a roleplaying nerd and a book worm. Let's fight the procrastination dragon!

YUSSS! I really have the coloring bug these days :D I splurged on the Enchanted Forrest and am totally hooked LOL Which ones are you into?

I'm hoping I'm not over doing... as is my way hehehe fortunately most of it has a pretty short time commitment and I guess part of the idea is to help shape my spare time so I'm not a lazy sloth! Time will tell ;)

So that's where you're hiding!!!

A sleep marathon sounds like a competition I'd participate in btw.

Hehehe seriously, it's a pretty solid concept. Maybe we can get some of the spread sheet fairies to whip something up that we could use!

OOOH! Winter War looks fun! You're close enough to NYC that Geno might turn up to commentate!

By the way, if he does, say hello from me! :D

Of course! We'll have to discuss again when the time gets closer... I'll have some googling to do! This is a whole new world for me LOL

(Not sure what this has to do with anything, but it obviously can't be left unposted...)

I've heard that pressure cookers are pretty great, not just for meat but also for how they can break down problematic compounds in certain foods. It's good stuff. I'm glad to hear that this one worked out well for you!

I've heard the same thing! I admit some nerves with it... so much pressure! But with the chicken success last night I feel like there will be some excellent, time saving uses for it :) Very glad I sprung for it finally!!! :D

One of my post-life-stuff rewards is going to be an electric pressure cooker, and a spree through Nom Nom Paleo's pressure cooker recipes.

I felt like I could run forever, like I could smell the wind and feel the grass under my feet, and just run forever.

OMG YUSSS. No question this was a big part of the inspiration! And as I'm getting more and more tips from fellow nerds, it seems that most slow cooker recipes can be adapted too :D
